The New York Yankees rally to beat the Chicago White Sox


The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night. The final score was 6-4 and the game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York. Hiroki Kuroda started and pitched well. Derek Jeter and Eduardo Nunez each had two hits.

Kuroda pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and four runs. He walked two and struck out seven. Preston Claiborne pitched to two batters and retired them both, Boone Logan won his fifth game of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout and Mariano Rivera saved his 40th game of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts.

Jeter had two hits, Robinson Cano had a hit and Alfonso Soriano had a hit and two RBI. /Alex Rodriguez had a hit and drew a walk, Vernon Wells had a hit and Curtis Granderson had a hit and an RBI. Nunez had two hits and two RBI, Nunez hit two doubles and Cano hit a double. The Yankees were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. Wells and Nunez each had a stolen base and Nunez committed an error.

Chris Sale started for the White Sox and pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with two of them being earned. He walked one and struck out six. Nate Jones lost his fifth game of the season giving up two hits and two runs without recording an out. Donnie Veal pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Matt Lindstrom pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and striking out one.

Alejandro De Aza had three hits and an RBI, Gordon Beckham had two hits and drew a walk and Alexei Ramirez had a hit and two RBI. Adam Dunn had a hit and an RBI, Paul Konerko drew a walk and Beckham hit a double. Ramirez hit a triple, De Aza hit a homerun and the White Sox were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. De Aza had a stolen base; Beckham and Gillaspie each committed an error.

Dunn hit an RBI single in the first giving the White Sox a 1-0 lead. In the second Wells stole home to tie the game at one. Ramirez hit a two run triple in the fifth to give the White Sox a 3-1 lead. In the seventh De Aza hit a solo homerun to extend the White Sox lead to 4-1. In the eighth the Yankees came back and scored five runs to make it 6-4. Soriano hit a two run single, Granderson hit an RBI single and Nunez hit a two run double. 6-4 would be the final score.

The Yankees record improved to 74-64 and the White Sox record fell to 56-81. The two teams will play the series finale on Wednesday night with the Yankees looking for a three game sweep.
