New York Mets blow 3-0 lead late and lose on a walk-off



The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Monday night.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 4-3.  Jon Niese started and pitched great, the bullpen was bad.  David Wright and Curtis Granderson each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Niese pitched seven innings giving up five hits and no runs.  He walked one and struck out six, Daisuke Matsuzaka gave up two hits and three runs without recording an out.  He walked two, Kyle Farnsworth pitched an inning giving up a walk and striking out one and Scott Rice took the loss giving up a hit and a run without recording an out.  Gonzalez Germen pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk. 

Dana Eovaldi pitched seven innings giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and ten strikeouts.  Hand pitched an inning giving up a hit and Steve Cishek picked up his second win pitching an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Eric Young Jr. had a hit, Daniel Murphy had a hit and an RBI and Wright had two hits.  Curtis Granderson had two hits and an RBI, Bobby Abreu had an RBI and Lucas Duda drew a walk.  Travis d'Arnaud drew a walk.  Wright hit a double, Murphy and Granderson each hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-1 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the first Murphy hit a solo homerun and Granderson hit a solo homerun giving the Mets a 2-0 lead.  The Mets added a run in the fourth on a Abreu sacrifice fly.  The Mets held a 3-0 lead in the eighth and then gave it up.  Stanton hit a RBI single, McGehee reached on an error and a run scored and Saltalamacchia hit an RBI double to tie the game at three.  In the ninth McGehee hit an RBI single to win the game.  The Marlins won 4-3. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night in Miami.
