The New York Mets defeat the Colorado Rockies with a walk-off



The New York Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Jon Niese started and pitched well for the Mets.  David Wright had a couple of hits and Wilmer Flores had the game winning RBI. 

Niese pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and a run.  He walked one and struck out seven.  Buddy Carlyle pitched to one batter and struck him out, Vic Black pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Carlos Torres won his seventh game of the season pitching a perfect inning. 

Jordan Lyles pitched six innings giving up three hits and a run.  He walked two and struck out four.  Tommy Kahnle pitched an inning with a strikeout, Brooks Brown pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Christian Friedrich pitched to one batter and struck him out.  LaTroy Hawkins pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs to blow his third save of the season and take his third loss of the season. 

Juan Lagares had a hit, Kirk Nieuwenhuis drew a walk and Wright had two hits.  Lucas Duda had a hit and an RBI, Travis d'Arnaud had a hit and Curtis Granderson had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Flores had an RBI, Duda, Lagares, Wright and d'Arnaud each hit a double.  Wright and Granderson each hit a triple and the Mets were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Niese had a pickoff. 

Corey Dickerson had a hit, Josh Rutledge had two hits and Nolan Arenado had a hit and an RBI.  Michael Cuddyer had a hit and an RBI, Drew Stubbs drew a walk and McKenry had a hit and drew a walk.  Barnes had a hit, LeMahieu had two hits including a double.  Dickerson hit a double and Cuddyer and Arenado hit a homerun.  The Rockies were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Stubbs had a stolen base and Rutledge was picked off.  Cuddyer committed an error. 

Duda hit an RBI double in the first to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Cuddyer hit a solo homerun in the second to tie the game at one.  Arenado hit a solo homerun in the eighth to give the Rockies a 2-1 lead.  In the ninth the Mets scored two runs to win the game 3-2.  Granderson hit an RBI triple and Flores hit a sacrifice fly.  The two teams will play game two of three.
