The New York Yankees even their series with the Kansas City Royals


The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals on Saturday evening.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-2.  Brandon McCarthy started and pitched well  and the bullpen was good as well.  Martin Prado led the offense with three hits and Ichiro Suzuki and John Ryan Murphy each had two hits. 
McCarthy pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Shawn Kelley pitched to one batter and retired him, Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and David Robertson pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 
Danny Duffy threw one pitch and left the game with a shoulder injury.  Liam Hendricks pitched four innings giving up seven hits and four runs with three of them being earned.  He walked none and struck out three.  Casey Coleman pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Brandon Finnegan pitched two innings with two strikeouts.  Louis Coleman pitched an inning giving up a hit. 
Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and an RBI, Derek Jeter had an RBI and Prado had three hits.  Mark Teixeira had a hit and an RBI, Carlos Beltran had a hit and an RBI and Chase Headley had a hit and drew a walk.  Suzuki had two hits and an RBI, Murphy had two hits and Prado hit two doubles.  Murphy and Beltran hit a double and Ellsbury hit a triple.  The Yankees were 5-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Wheeler committed an error and Ellsbury had an outfield assist. 
Omar Infante had a hit, Alex Gordon had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Eric Hosmer had a hit.  Josh Willingham had a hit, Mike Moustakas had a hit and an RBI and Alex Escobar had a hit.  Hosmer, Escobar and Willingham each hit a double.  The Royals were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Perez committed an error. 
In the first Teixeira hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Gordon hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the bottom of the third Ellsbury hit an RBI triple and Jeter hit a sacrifice fly to give the Yankees a 3-1 lead.  In the fourth a throwing error scored another run for the Yankees giving them a 4-1 lead.  Beltran hit an RBI double and Ichiro hit an RBI single in the fifth to make it 6-1.  The Royals would score another run in the seventh on a Moustakas sacrifice fly.  The two teams will play the rubber game on Sunday afternoon.
