CC Sabathia makes his debut in New York Yankees loss



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida.  CC Sabathia made his spring debut and was ok but felt good and his control and velocity were good.  Mark Teixeira hit a homerun and Chris Young had a couple of hits. 

Sabathia pitched two innings giving up four hits and two runs with a couple of strikeouts.  Sabathia took the loss.  Dellin Betances pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk, Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out one and Kyle Davies pitched an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run with a couple of walks.  Domingo German pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Chris Martin pitched two innings giving up a hit and struck out three and Jared Burton pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Jonathan Galvez drew a walk, Carlos Beltran had a hit and Tyler Austin had a hit.  Teixeira had a hit and an RBI, Garrett Jones drew a walk and Young had two hits.  Stephen Drew had a hit and an RBI, Jose Pirela had a hit and drew a walk and Beltran and Austin each hit a double.  Pirela hit a triple and Teixeira hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Young was caught stealing and McCann and Burton committed an error.  Gardner had an outfield assist.  Betances had a pickoff. 

In the second Dayan Viciedo hit an RBI double to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the second Devon Travis hit an RBI single to make it 2-0 Blue Jays.  In the bottom of the second Drew hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the third Josh Donaldson hit an RBI groundout to make it 3-1 Blue Jays.  In the fourth Teixeira hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the fifth Jose Bautista hit an RBI groundout to give the Jays a 4-2 lead.  That was the final score. 

The Yankees will play the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night from Disney.  Masahiro Tanaka will make his second start of the spring.
