The New York Mets win their fifth straight



The New  York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Thursday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-5.  Dillon Gee started and didn't pitch that well, the bullpen was pretty good.  Lucas Duda had three hits and Michael Cuddyer had a couple of hits and RBI. 

Gee pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Rafael Montero pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run with a walk and a strikeout, Jerry Blevins pitched to two batters and retired them both picking up a win and Carlos Torres pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out two.  Jeurys Familia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and picked up his fourth save of the season. 

Jarred Cosart pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  A.J. Ramos pitched to two batters and retired them both, Mike Dunn pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and took his first loss and Sam Dyson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up one hit and striking out one.   

Curtis Granderson drew a walk, Duda had three hits and an RBI and Cuddyer had two hits and two RBI.  Daniel Murphy had a hit, Eric Campbell had a hit and an RBI and Juan Lagares had a hit and drew a walk.  Wilmer Flores had a hit and three RBI, John Mayberry Jr. drew a walk and Duda hit two doubles.  Flores hit a homeruns and the Mets were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Mayberry had a stolen base and Murphy committed an error. 

Dee Gordon had a hit, Christian Yelich had a hit and Giancarlo Stanton had two hits and two RBI with a walk.  Martin Prado had two hits and an RBI, Michael Morse drew a walk and Marcell Ozuna had an RBI and drew a walk.  Ichiro Suzuki had a hit, Stanton hit a double and Suzuki hit a triple and Stanton and Prado each hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  yelich had a stolen base and Gordon was caught stealing. 

Stanton hit a two run homerun in the first to give the Marlins a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Prado hit a solo homerun to push the Marlins lead to 3-0.  Flores hit a three run homerun in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at three.  Ozuna had an RBI walk in the sixth to give the Marlins a 4-3 lead and the Mets came right back in the bottom of the sixth.  Cuddyer hit an RBI single and Campbell hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 5-4 lead.  In the seventh the Marlins tied the game on a fielder's choice and an error.  Duda hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh to give the Mets a 6-5 lead and Cuddyer hit an RBI single to increase the lead to 7-5 which was the final score. 

The Mets will continue their series on Friday night against the Marlins.  Bartolo Colon will start looking for his third win of the season.
