The New York Yankees losing streak reaches six



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers on Sunday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-2 Texas.  Chris Capuano started and pitched ok but didn't get deep into the game.  The Yankees bullpen was pretty good and Chase Headley and Garrett Jones each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Capuano pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up eight hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He lost his second game of the season.  Capuano didn't walk a batter and struck out four.  Chasen Shreve pitched 1 1/3 innings and walked one, Justin Wilson pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs and Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning.  David Carpenter pitched an inning giving up two hits and Andrew Miller pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Yovani Gallardo pitched six innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Gallardo earned his fourth win of the season.  Keone Kela pitched an inning giving up a hit, Ross Ohlendorf pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Sam Freeman pitched to one batter and retired him.  Shawn Tolleson pitched a perfect inning striking out the side. 

Headley had two hits, Alex Rodriguez had a hit and Mark Teixeira drew a walk.  Brian McCann had a hit and two RBI, Jones had two hits and drew a walk and the Yankees were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Pirela committed an error. 

Delino Deshields had two hits, Shin-Soo Choo had two hits and an RBI and Prince Fielder had three hits and two RBI.  Adrian Beltre had a hit, Mitch Moreland had a hit and Leonys Martin had a hit.  Robinson Chirinos had a hit, Adam Rosales had two hits and two RBI with a walk.  Fielder, Moreland, Choo and Martin each hit a double.  DeShields hit a triple and Rosales hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Rosales and Martin was caught stealing and Andrus and Moreland each committed an error.  Martin had an outfield assist. 

In the first Fielder hit an RBI double to give the Rangers a quick 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first McCann hit a two run single to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the second Rosales hit a two run homerun to give the Rangers a 3-2 lead.  Choo hit an RBI double in the seventh and Fielder hit an RBI single to make it a 5-2 game. 

The Yankees were swept in the three game series.  The Yankees will remain at home to face the defending American League Champion Kansas City Royals.
