The New York Mets lose a tight one to the Atlanta Braves



The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Friday night.  The game took place at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 2-1.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and pitched well and Ruben Tejada, Kevin Plawecki and Michael Cuddyer each had two hits. 

deGrom pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  deGrom lost his fifth game of the season.  Sean Gilmartin gave up a hit and a walk and didn't record an out, Bobby Parnell pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Jeurys Familia struck out the only batter that he faced. 

Matt Wisler pitched eight innings giving up six hits and a run with two strikeouts.  Wisler won his first game of the season.  Jason Grilli saved his 19th game of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Tejada had two hits, Cuddyer had two hits and an RBI and Plawecki had two hits.  Tejada hit a double and the Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Granderson committed an error. 

Jace Peterson had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Cameron Maybin drew a walk and Nick Markakis had a hit.  Andrelton Simmons had two hits, Pedro Ciriaco had a hit.  Simmons and Peterson each hit a double.  The Braves were 3-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Peterson was caught stealing, Uribe committed an error. 

In the sixth Cuddyer hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Peterson hit a two run double to give the Braves a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.
