The New York Yankees fall behind early and then blast the Texas Rangers

The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Globe Life Park and the final score was 21-5.  Chris Capuano started the game and couldn't even get through one inning, the bullpen was great.  The offense was on fire as everyone was hitting.

Capuano pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and five runs.  He walked five batters and didn't strike out anyone.  Diego Moreno picked up his first win of the season pitching 5 1/3 innings giving up no hits and no runs with a walk and five strikeouts, Adam Warren picked up his first save pitching a perfect three innings.

Martin Perez pitched an inning giving up seven hits and eight runs with no walks and a strikeout.  Perez lost his second game of the season.  Wandy Rodriguez pitched an inning giving up six hits and seven runs with three walks and three strikeouts, Klein pitched three innings giving up two hits and an unearned run.  He walked two and struck out two batters and Patton pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Sam Freeman pitched an inning walking two and striking out one, Scheppers pitched an inning with a walk and Adam Rosales pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out one.

Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and an RBI, Brett Gardner had three hits, three RBI and drew three walks and Alex Rodriguez had two hits, an RBI and drew three walks.  Mark Teixeira drew a walk, Chris Young had three hits, five RBI and drew a walk and Chase Headley had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  John Ryan Murphy had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Didi Gregorius had four hits and three RBI and Brendan Ryan had two hits and three RBI.  Young hit two doubles, Ryan hit two doubles and Rodriguez hit a double.  Gregorius hit a triple and Young and Gardner each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 11-21 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.

Delino DeShields had an RBI and drew two walks, Prince Fielder drew a walk and Elvis Andrus had a hit and an RBI and Mitch Moreland drew a walk.  Ryan Rua had a hit and two RBI, Shin-Soo Choo had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Robinson Chirinos drew a walk and Choo hit a double.  The Rangers were 3-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Chirinos, Andrus and Telis each committed an error.

The Yankees were down 5-0 after the first inning.  They scored 11 runs in the second and four in the third to take a 15-5 lead.  They added one in the fourth and three in the sixth and then two more in the ninth to make it 21-5.  It was the most runs scored by any team in a few years.  It was the largest unanswered comeback since 1939.  This was a crazy game and hard to imagine the Yankees were down 5-0 and their starter was knocked out in the first inning.  The two teams will play game three of four on Wednesday night.
