The New York Mets lose on a crazy night in Queens

The New York Mets were defeated by the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-3.  Bartolo Colon was roughed up, the bullpen was pretty good and Lucas Duda hit three homeruns.  The bigger story was the trade that became a none trade and had Wilmer Flores the Mets shortstop crying on the field.  It was definitely a crazy night.  The Mets traded for Carlos Gomez from Milwaukee but then the deal was nixed after reviewing medicals but not before it got out all over the internet.

Colon pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up ten hits and six runs with no walks and a strikeout.  Colon lost his tenth game of the season.  Alex Torres pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three walks and striking out two, Bobby Parnell pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run and Sean Gilmartin pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out five.  Hansel Robles pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out three.

Curtis Granderson drew two walks, Kelly Johnson drew a walk and Duda had three hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Wilmer Flores had a hit and Eric Campbell had a hit, Duda hit three homeruns and the Mets were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left  four men on base.  Granderson was caught stealing.

Will Venable had two hits and an RBI, Yangervis Solarte had four hits and an RBI and Matt Kemp had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Justin Upton had two hits and three RBI, Yonder Alonso had two hits and an RBI and Jedd Gyorko had two hits and drew a walk.  Austin Hedges had two hits and drew a walk, Solarte hit two doubles and Alonso hit a double.  Upton and Alonso each hit a homerun and the Padres were 4-15 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Venable, Kemp and Amarista each had a stolen base.

In the first Kemp hit an RBI single to make it 1-0 Padres.  Upton hit a sac fly and it was 2-0 Padres.  In the second Venable hit an RBI single and Solarte hit an RBI single to make it 4-0 Padres.  Duda hit a solo homerun in the second to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the third Upton hit a solo homerun to make it 5-1 Padres.  Alonso hit a solo homerun in the third and it was 6-1 Padres.  Upton hit an RBI single in the sixth to push the lead to 7-1 Padres.  Duda hit a solo homerun in the sixth and he hit a solo homerun in the ninth to make it 7-3 but that was the final score.
