New York Mets blow lead and lose to the St. Louis Cardinals

 

The New York Mets were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.  The game took place at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri and the final score was 6-5.  Joey Lucchesi started for the Mets and he pitched poorly.  Pete Alonso had three hits and Kevin Pillar had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lucchesi pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and six runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Lucchesi took his second loss of the season.  Robert Gsellman pitched 2 1/3 innings with a strikeout, Sean Reid-Foley pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out three and Jacob Barnes pitched an inning with a walk. 

Adam Wainwright won his first game of the season.  He started for the Cardinals and pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs.  He walked three and struck out five.  Genesis Cabrera pitched an inning with two walks and a strikeout, Ryan Helsley pitched to one batter and got him out and Giovanny Gallegos pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Alex Reyes pitched an inning with two walks and he earned his eighth save of the season. 

Jeff McNeil had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Francisco Lindor drew a walk and Michael Conforto drew a walk.  Alonso had three hits and drew a walk, Dom Smith had an RBI and drew a walk and Pillar had two hits and two RBI.  Jonathan Villar drew a walk, Tomas Nido had a hit and an RBI and Alonso hit two doubles.  Pillar hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

Tommy Edman had two hits, Dylan Carlson had a hit and an RBI and Paul Goldschmidt had a hit and drew a walk.  Nolan Arenado had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk, Paul DeJong had two hits and Tyler O’Neill had a hit and an RBI.  Harrison Bader had a hit and an RBI, DeJong, O’Neill and Edman each hit a double and Edman hit a triple.  Bader and Arenado each hit a homerun and the Cardinals were 2-4 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

In the bottom of the first Carlson hit a sac fly to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.  In the second Nido was hit by a pitch to tie the game at one.  MeNeil drew an RBI walk and the Mets took a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the second Bader hit a solo homerun tying the game at two.  In the third Smith hit an RBI ground out to give the Mets back the lead at 3-2.  Pillar hit a two-run homerun extending the Mets lead to 5-2.  In the bottom of the third Arenado hit a three-run homerun tying the game at five.  O’Neill hit an RBI double and the Cardinals grabbed a 6-5 lead which would be the final score.

New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals play to a tie in finale of spring

 

The New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals played to a 3-3 tie in the final spring game.  The game took place at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter, Florida.  Taijuan Walker started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Pete Alonso hit a two-run double. 

Walker pitched five innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Miguel Castro pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up a hit and Jerry Blevins pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Hildenberger pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts. 

Adam Wainwright pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Jesus Cruz pitched to one batter and got him out, Carlos Martinez pitched three innings giving up a walk and he struck out two and Andrew Miller pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Ryan Helsley pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Giovanny Gallegos pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, Francisco Lindor had a hit and Luis Guillorme had a hit and drew a walk.  Mallex Smith had a hit and an RBI, Alonso had a hit and two RBI and J.D. Davis drew a walk.  Pete Crow-Armstrong had a hit, Lindor, Alonso, Guillorme and Smith each hit a double and the Mets were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Tommy Edman had a hit, Nolan Arenado had a hit and an RBI and Edmundo Sosa had two hits and an RBI.  Justin Williams drew a walk, Matt Carpenter had a hit and an RBI and Arenado and Sosa each hit a homerun.  The Cardinals were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base. 

In the first Alonso hit a two-run double to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Arenado hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the third Carpenter hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  In the eighth Smith hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 3-2 lead and in the bottom of the ninth Sosa hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three and that would be the final score. 

The Mets will head to Washington D.C. to begin the season on Thursday night against the Washington Nationals.

New York Mets outslug the St. Louis Cardinals

 

The New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday.  The game took place at Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 8-5.  Taijuan Walker started for the Mets and he pitched very well.  Francisco Lindor and Tomas Nido led the offensive charge.  Lindor had two hits and four RBI and Nido had three hits and an RBI. 

Walker pitched four innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts.  Walker picked up his first win of the spring.  Jerry Blevins pitched a perfect inning, Corey Oswalt pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up five hits and five runs with a walk and a strikeout and Trevor Hildenberger pitched to one batter and struck him out.  Daniel Zamora pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk and he earned his second save of the spring. 

Carlos Martinez started for the Cardinals and he didn’t pitch very well.  He pitched three innings giving up five hits and five runs with two walks and a strikeout.  He took his second loss of the spring.   Evan Kruczynski pitched to one batter and got him out, Thomas Parsons pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and Andrew Miller pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Giovanny Gallegos pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two, Matthew Liberatore pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and an unearned run with a walk and three strikeouts.  Jesus Cruz pitched to one batter and struck him out. 

Brandon Nimmo drew two walks, Lindor had two hits and four RBI and Michael Conforto had a hit and drew a walk.  Johneshwy Fargas had a hit, Pete Alonso had a hit and an RBI and Patrick Mazeika had a hit and drew a walk.  J.D. Davis had a hit, Nido three hits and an RBI and Brandon Drury an RBI.  Alonso and Nido each hit a double and Fargas hit a triple.  Nido and Lindor each hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Lindor was caught stealing. 

Matt Carpenter drew a walk, Dylan Carlson had a hit and Evan Mendoza had a hit and an RBI.  Delvin Perez had a hit, Edmundo Sosa had a hit and Jose Rondon drew a walk.  John Nogowski had a hit and drew a walk, Max Moroff had a hit and two RBI and Scott Hurst had a hit and two RBI.  Mendoza and Perez each hit a double and Moroff and Hurst each hit a homerun.  The Cardinals were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Mendoza committed an error. 

In the bottom of the first Alonso hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Nido hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Drury reached on a fielder’s choice and a run scored extending the Mets lead to 3-0.  Lindor hit a grand-slam and it was 7-0 Mets.  In the sixth Moroff hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 7-2.  Mendoza hit an RBI double and it was a 7-3 game.  In the eighth Hurst hit a two-run homerun to make it 7-5.  In the bottom of the eighth Tovar reached on a fielder’s choice pushing the lead to 8-5 and that was the final score. 

The Mets will be off on Saturday and take on the Nationals in West Palm Beach on Sunday.

New York Mets defeat the St. Louis Cardinals

 The New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at

Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 7-5.  David Peterson started for the Mets 

and he did not pitch very well.  Michael Conforto had three hits and two RBI to lead the offense.  

Peterson pitched four innings giving up five hits and three runs with two walks and a strikeout.  

Aaron Loup earned his first win of the spring pitching an inning and giving up two hits and a run with

a strikeout, Arodys Vizcaino pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Yennsy Diaz pitched

an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout.  

Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew a walk, Francisco Lindor had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and 

Conforto had three hits and two RBI.  Pete Alonso had a hit and two RBI, Bruce Maxwell had a hit and 

Dom Smith had a hit and an RBI.  Luis Guillorme drew two walks, Patrick Mazeika had a hit and the

Mets were 5-10 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Nimmo had a stolen base 

and Guillorme was caught stealing.  

In the first Jose Rondon hit a two-run single to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first

Conforto hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 2-1.  Smith hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  In

the third Rondon hit a sac fly giving the Cardinals a 3-2 lead.  In the fifth Matt Carpenter hit an RBI

double pushing the Cardinals lead to 4-2.  In the bottom of the fifth Lindor drew an RBI walk to cut

the lead to 4-3 and Conforto hit an RBI single tying the game at four.  Alonso hit a two-run single

making it a 6-4 game in favor of the Mets.  J.D. Davis hit into a double play but a run scored pushing

their lead to 7-4.  In the ninth Justin Toerner hit a sac fly cutting the lead to 7-5 and that would be the 

final score.

New York Mets rally late to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals

 

The New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday afternoon.  The game took place at Clover Park in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 5-3.  Tijuan Walker started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch very well.  Kevin Pillar had a hit and an RBI and James McCann had a hit. 

Walker pitched two innings giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Edwin Diaz pitched an inning with two strikeouts, Trevor May pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout.  Miguel Castro pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Tommy Hunter earned his first win of the spring pitching an inning and giving up two walks and a strikeout, Drew Smith pitched an inning with a strikeout and Sam McWilliams earned his second save of the spring pitching an inning with three walks and a strikeout. 

Pillar had a hit and an RBI, Jose Peraza had an RBI and Pete Alonso drew three walks.  McCann had a hit, Caleb Joseph drew a walk and Ronny Mauricio had a hit and two RBI.  Brandon Drury had a hit, Brett Baty drew a walk and Albert Almora Jr. had a hit.  Drew Ferguson had a hit, Johneshwy Fargas had a hit and Mallex Smith drew a walk.  Fargas hit a double and the Mets were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Smith had a stolen base. 

In the second Andrew Knizner hit an RBI single to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.  Edmundo Sosa hit a sac fly and it was 2-0.  In the fourth Justin Williams hit a solo homerun to push the Cardinals lead to 3-0.  In the bottom of the seventh Pillar hit an RBI single, Peraza reached on a fielder’s choice and a run scored and a wild pitch tied the score at three.  Mauricio hit a two-run single to break the tie and make it 5-3 Mets which was the final score. 

The Mets will have the day off on Wednesday and take on the Houston Astros on Thursday evening in West Palm Beach.

New York Mets lose a close one to the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Mets were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Jason Vargas started for the Mets and he pitched ok[GM1] .  Dom Smith and Juan Lagares each had two hits to lead the Mets offense. 

Vargas pitched four innings giving up a hit and three runs with two being earned.  He walked three and struck out four.  Wilmer Font pitched three innings giving up a walk and he struck out three, Chris Flexen pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and he lost his third game of the season.  Brooks Pounders pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Dakota Hudson pitched six innings giving up eight hits and three runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Andrew Miller pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Carlos Martinez earned his second save of the season pitching two innings and giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Smith had two hits and drew a walk, J.D. Davis had a hit and an RBI and Michael Conforto had a hit.  Pete Alonso had a hit, Robinson Cano had a hit and drew a walk and Adeiny Hechavarria had a hit and an RBI.  Lagares had two hits and an RBI, Todd Frazier had a hit and Jacob deGrom drew a walk.  Smith and Cano each hit a double and the Mets were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Lagares had a stolen base and Hechavarria committed two errors. 

Paul DeJong had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Paul Goldschmidt had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks and Jose Martinez drew a walk.  Yadier Molina had a hit, Goldschmidt and DeJong each hit a homerun and the Cardinals were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Fowler had an outfield assist. 

In the first Goldschmidt hit a two-run homerun to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Davis hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the third Hechavarria hit an RBI single to tie the game at two, Lagares hit an RBI single to make it 3-2 Mets.  In the fourth Molina hit into a double play but the score was tied at three.  In the eighth DeJong hit a solo homerun giving the Cardinals a 4-3 lead and that would be the final score.  The Cardinals won three of four in the series.  The Mets will now head to Atlanta to take on the Braves on Monday night.

New York Mets hold on for win over the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 8-7.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he was shaky.  J.D. Davis had four hits to lead the Mets offense. 

Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched six innings giving up six hits and five runs with four of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out five and he won his fifth game of the season.  Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run, Seth Lugo pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks with three strikeouts and Edwin Diaz picked up his 15th save of the season pitching an inning and giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout.   

Michael Wacha lost his third game of the season pitching four innings and giving up seven hits and six runs with five being earned.  He walked one and struck out four.  Genesis Cabrera pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts, Giovanny Gallegos pitched 1 1/3 innings and Tyler Webb pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit.  John Brebbia pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout.

Matt Carpenter had a hit and an RBI, Dexter Fowler had two hits and three RBI and Paul DeJong had three hits and an RBI.  Marcell Ozuna had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Yadier Molina had a hit and an RBI and Kolten Wong had two hits.  Paul Goldschmidt drew a walk, Yairo Munoz had a hit and Wacha had a hit.  Jose Martinez drew two walks, Carpenter and Wong each hit a double.  Fowler hit a homerun and the Cardinals were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  DeJong, Edman, Ozuna and Munoz each had a stolen base.  Wong had two stolen bases.  Wong committed an error. 

Fowler hit a solo homerun in the first to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Alonso hit a three-run homerun, Ramos hit an RBI double and Gomez hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 5-1 lead.  In the second Davis hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 6-1.  In the third Ozuna hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-2.  In the fifth Fowler hit a sac fly cutting the lead to 6-3.  In the sixth Conforto hit an RBI single and Frazier drew an RBI walk to make it an 8-3 game.  In the seventh Carpenter hit an RBI double, Fowler hit an RBI single and DeJong hit a sac fly making it an 8-6 game.  In the ninth Molina hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 8-7 but that was the final score.

New York Mets drop rubber game to the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Mets were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri and the final score was 6-4.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch very good.  Pete Alonso and Robinson Cano each led the team with two hits each. 

Syndergaard pitched five innings giving up eight hits and six runs with four being earned.  He walked two and struck out five and lost his second game of the season.  Robert Gsellman pitched three perfect innings with a strikeout. 

Dakota Hudson pitched five innings giving up five hits and three runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Hudson won his first game of the season.  John Brebbia pitched 2/3 of an inning with two strikeouts, Andrew Miller pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and John Gant pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout.  Jordan Hicks pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and recorded his fifth save of the season.

The Mets lost two out of three in the series and will head home to take on the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday night.  It will be the first of a three-game series.

New York Mets get crushed by the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Mets were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday.  The game took place at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri and the final score was 10-2.  Chris Flexen made his season debut for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  The bullpen didn’t pitch well either and the offense only managed four hits. 

Flexen pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and six runs with five being earned.  He walked four and lost his first game of the season.  Luis Avilan pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts, Jacob Rhame pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with two walks and Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run. 

Miles Mikolas pitched eight innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Mikolas won his second game of the season.  Giovanny Gallegos pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Brandon Nimmo drew a walk, Robinson Cano had a hit and Jeff McNeil had a hit and drew a walk.  Amed Rosario had a hit and an RBI, J.D. Davis had an RBI, Flexen had a hit and Rosario hit a triple.  The Mets were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Ramos had a passed ball. 

Matt Carpenter had a hit and drew two walks, Paul Goldschmidt had a hit and an RBI and Paul DeJong had two hits and an RBI.  Marcell Ozuna drew three walks, Jose Martinez had three hits and three RBI and Jose Molina had two hits and two RBI.  Kolten Wong drew two walks, Mikolas had a hit and two RBI and Martinez hit a double.  DeJong hit two doubles and Goldschmidt hit a homerun.  The Cardinals were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Ozuna had a stolen base. 

In the second a passed ball gave the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.  Mikolas hit a two-run single to push the Cardinals lead to 3-0.  In the third Martinez hit an RBI single to make it a 4-0 game.  Molina hit a sac fly and it was 5-0.  In the bottom of the fifth Molina hit an RBI single to extend the Cardinals lead to 6-0.  In the bottom of the sixth DeJong hit an RBI double and Martinez hit a two-run double and it was a 9-0 game.  In the seventh Rosario hit an RBI triple to cut the lead to 9-1 and Davis hit an RBI ground out making it a 9-2 game.  In the eighth Goldschmidt hit a solo homerun and it was 10-2 which would be the final score of the game. 

The Mets will try and salvage the final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.   

New York Mets hold off the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night.  The game took place at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri and the final score was 5-4.  Jason Vargas started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Robinson Cano led the offense with three hits and Pete Alonso, J.D. Davis and Juan Lagares each had two hits. 

Vargas pitched four innings giving up three hits and a run with three walks and three strikeouts.  Seth Lugo won his first game of the season pitching two innings giving up four hits and two runs and three strikeouts.  Jeurys Familia pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and an unearned run, Justin Wilson pitched giving up a hit and a walk and Robert Gsellman pitched 2/3 of an inning.  Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk and saved his seventh game of the season. 

Adam Wainwright pitched three innings giving up eight hits and four runs with three being earned.  He walked three and struck out three and lost his second game of the season.  Giovanny Gallegos pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts, Ryan Helsley pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Dominic Leone pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit.  Tyler Webb pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, John Brebbia pitched to one batter and got him out and John Gant pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Alonso had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Cano had three hits and an RBI and Michael Conforto drew three walks.  Wilson Ramos had a hit and two RBI, Davis had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Amed Rosario had a hit.  Lagares had two hits, Cano hit two doubles and hit a double.  Alonso hit a homerun and the Mets were 3-14 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Rosario and Davis each committed an error. 

Matt Carpenter had two hits, Paul Goldschmidt had a hit and PaulMarcell Ozuna drew a walk, Jose Martinez had three hits and an RBI and Jose Molina had a hit.  Dustin Fowler had two hits and drew two walks, Kolten Wong drew a walk and Lane Thomas had a hit and two RBI.  Carpenter, Molina and Fowler each hit a double and Thomas and Martinez each hit a homerun.  The Cardinals were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left 11 m3n on base.  DeJong had a stolen base and Martinez and DeJong each committed an error. 

In the first Ramos hit an RBI single, Davis hit an RBI double and the Mets had a 2-0 lead.  In the second Cano hit an RBI single to push the Mets lead to 3-0.  In the fourth Ramos hit an RBI ground out to extend the Mets lead to 4-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Martinez hit a solo homerun and the lead was cut to 4-1.  In the sixth Alonso hit a solo homerun to make it a 5-1 game.  In the bottom of the sixth Thomas hit a two-run homerun after an umpire review and the lead was cut to 5-3.  In the eighth Fowler hit an RBI single to make it a 5-4 game.  That would be the final score of the game. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday.

New York Yankees were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Yankees were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday.  The game took place at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter, Florida and the final score was 11-3.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he did not pitch well.  Gio Urshela had two hits and Gleyber Torres had two RBI to lead the offense. 

German pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs with four strikeouts.  Rex Brothers pitched to one batter and struck him out, Stephen Tarpley pitched a perfect inning and James Reeves pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hit and two runs with two walks.  Cale Coshow pitched an inning giving up five hits and four runs with two strikeouts and Phillip Diehl pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Torres had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Miguel Andujar had a hit and Urshela had two hits.  Ryan Lavarnway had a hit, RBI and drew a walk, Matt Lipka had a hit and drew two walks and Urshela and Torres each hit a double.  The Yankees were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Lipka and Zehner each had a stolen base.  Reeves committed an error. 

In the first Dexter Fowler hit a solo homerun giving the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.  In the second Drew Robinson hit an RBI single and Fowler hit his second homerun a two-run shot to push the Cardinals lead to 4-0.  In the third Torres hit a two-run double to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the bottom of the third Marcell Ozuna hit a solo homerun to make it 5-2.  In the fourth Lavarnway hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-3.  In the sixth Harrison Bader hit an RBI single and Robinson hit an RBI single to increase the Cardinals lead to 7-3.  In the seventh Ozuna hit an RBI double, Kolten Wong hit a sac fly and Robinson hit a two-run double to make it a 11-3 game and that would be the final score.

New York Mets lose to the St. Louis Cardinals in 13 innings


The New York Mets were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri and the final score was 4-3 in 13 innings.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Yoenis Cespedes and Jay Bruce each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Syndergaard pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked none and struck out seven.  Robert Gsellman pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Seth Lugo pitched an inning with a walk and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  AJ Ramos pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Paul Sewald lost his first game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout.   

Carlos Martinez pitched six innings giving up four hits and a run with three strikeouts, Dominic Leone pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Bud Norris pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Greg Holland pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Luke Gregerson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with two walks and Matt Bowman pitched 1/3 of an inning and retired the only batter that he faced.  John Gant pitched three perfect innings with a strikeout and he won his first game of the season. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, Cespedes had two hits and two RBI and Bruce had two hits.  Todd Frazier had a hit, Adrian Gonzalez had a hit and drew a walk and Michael Conforto had a hit.  Jose Lobaton had an RBI and drew a walk.  Amed Rosario had a hit, Cespedes hit a double and the Mets were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Rosario committed an error.

In the first Cespedes hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the seventh Cespedes hit a sac fly to push the Mets lead to 2-0.  In the bottom of the seventh Ozuna hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the eighth Pham hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  In the tenth Lobaton drew an RBI walk to give the Mets a 3-2 lead and in the bottom of the tenth Martinez hit an RBI double to tie the game at three.  In the 13th Folwer hit an RBI walk-off single to give the Cardinals a 4-3 lead.

New York Mets are blown out by the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Mets were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri and the final score was 9-1.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch very well and Corey Oswalt pitched pretty well out of the bullpen.  The Mets offense produced seven hits but no player had more than one hit. 

Matz lost his second game of the season and he pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up five hits and seven runs with three of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out three and Oswalt pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with four strikeouts. 

Michael Wacha pitched six innings giving up five hits and a run with a walk and eight strikeouts and he won his fourth game of the season.  John Brebbia pitched three innings giving up two hits and no runs with four strikeouts and got his first save of the season. 

Michael Conforto had a hit, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and Jay Bruce had a hit and an RBI.  Todd Frazier had a hit and drew a walk, Jose Lobaton had a hit and Matz had a hit.  Amed Rosario had a hit, the Mets were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Matz, Lobaton and Frazier each committed an error. 

Harrison Bader drew a walk, Dexter Fowler had two RBI and drew a walk and Jose Martinez had a hit and an RBI.  Marcell Ozuna had a hit and two RBI, Paul DeJong had two hits and Jedd Gyorko had a hit and two RBI.  Kolten Wong had two hits, Wacha had an RBI and DeJong hit a double and Gyorko hit a homerun.  The Cardinals were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Molina committed an error. 

In the third Bruce hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Fowler hit a sac fly to tie the game at one.  Ozuna hit a two-run single to give the Cardinals a 3-1 lead.  In the fourth Wacha hit a sac bunt and a run scored to push the lead to 4-1.  Fowler drew an RBI walk and Martinez grounded into a force out to make it 6-1.  Ozuna reached on a fielding error and the score was 7-1.  In the fifth Gyorko hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 9-1 and that would be the final score.

The New York Mets are shutdown by the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Mets were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-1.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched ok and the bullpen did ok.  Juan Lagares had three hits to lead the Mets offense.   

Matz took the loss pitching four innings giving up four hits and three runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Paul Sewald pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts, Jacob Rhame pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Jerry Blevins pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two walks.  A.J. Ramos pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Luke Weaver pitched five innings giving up five hits and a run with three walks and three strikeouts and he won the game.  Matt Bowman pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two, Jordan Hicks pitched an inning and he struck out one and Dominic Leone pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and Jay Bruce had a hit.  Todd Frazier drew a walk, Kevin Plawecki drew a walk and Lagares had three hits.  Adrian Gonzalez drew a walk, Amed Rosario had a hit and an RBI and Bruce hit a double.  The Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Rosario was picked off. 

Dexter Fowler drew a walk, Tommy Pham had two hits and drew two walks and Matt Carpenter drew two walks.  Marcell Ozuna had three hits and two RBI, Jose Molina had a hit and an RBI and Paul DeJong had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Jedd Gyorko had a hit and drew a walk, Ozuna hit a double and DeJong hit two homeruns.  Molina also hit a homerun and the Cardinals were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Pham and Gyorko had a stolen base.  Weaver had a pickoff. 

In the second DeJong hit a solo homerun to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.  In the second Rosario hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the third Ozuna hit an RBI double to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead.  In the fourth Molina hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 3-1.  In the fifth Ozuna hit an RBI single and the lead was pushed to 4-1.  In the eighth DeJong hit a solo homerun to make it 5-1 and that was the final score.  The Mets are scheduled to play on Monday night against the Philadelphia Phillies at home.

deGrom pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and seven strikeouts.  deGrom picked up his first win of the season.  Robert Gsellman pitched to two batters and struck out one and he gave up two hits, Anthony Swarzak pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Jeurys Familia pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out two.

In the first Frazier hit a two-run double to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Martinez hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the fourth d’Arnaud hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 3-1.  In the fifth Cespedes hit a solo homerun and the Mets lead was extended to 4-1.  In the seventh Frazier hit a sac fly and the score was 5-1 and in the eighth Carpenter hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-2.  In the bottom of the eighth Cabrera hit an RBI double and the final score was 6-2.

The New York Mets smash the St. Louis Cardinals to win on Opening Day


The New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 9-4.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Yoenis Cespedes led the offense with two hits and three RBI. 

Syndergaard pitched six innings giving up six hits and four runs with ten strikeouts.  He picked up the win, his first of the year.  Robert Gsellman pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts, Anthony Swarzak pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one. 

Carlos Martinez took the loss pitching 4 1/3 innings giving up four hits and five runs with four of them being earned.  He walked six and struck out five.  Matt Bowman pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a walk, Brett Cecil pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Mike Mayers pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one.  Jordan Hicks pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Sam Tuivailala pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks and a strikeout.

The New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and pitched well.  Michael Conforto had two hits and drew two walks. 

Lugo pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Erik Goeddel pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run and Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning and won his first game of the season. 

Lance Lynn pitched six innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Matt Bowman pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Brett Cecil pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run and Trevor Rosenthal pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and lost his fourth game of the season. 

Conforto had two hits and drew two walks, Lucas Duda had a hit and an RBI and T.J. Rivera had a hit.  Jose Reyes had a hit and an RBI and Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI.  Conforto hit a double, Duda and Flores each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.

New York Mets are shutout by the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Mets were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-0.  Rafael Montero started for the Mets and he pitched well, the bullpen was good.  Michael Conforto had two hits and the offense only managed three.   

Montero pitched six innings and gave up seven hits and four runs with two of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out five and lost his sixth game of the season.  Fernando Salas pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and an unearned run, Josh Edgin pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and Neil Ramirez retired the only two batters that he faced.  Hansel Robles pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Michael Wacha pitched a complete game three hit shutout.  He walked one and struck out eight and won his seventh game of the season.
