Jacob deGrom, Curtis Granderson and Travis d'Arnaud lead New York Mets to victory



The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida and the final score was 6-5 Mets.  deGrom pitched very well for the Mets and Curtis Granderson and Travis d'Arnaud led the offense. 

deGrom pitched three scoreless innings giving up a hit with no walks and three strikeouts.  Steven Matz pitched four innings giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and three strikeouts, Hansel Robles pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Sean Gilmartin pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout. 

Granderson had two hits and three RBI, T.J. Rivera had a hit and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit.  Johnny Monell had a hit and drew a walk, Wilmer Flores drew a walk and Alejandro De Aza had a hit and drew two walks.  d'Arnaud had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Eric Campbell drew a walk and Danny Muno had a hit.  d'Arnaud  hit a double and the Mets were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the third d'Arnaud hit an RBI double giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Granderson hit an RBI single to make it 2-0 Mets.  In the fourth d'Arnaud hit a two run single to push the lead to 4-0 Mets.  Granderson hit a two run single making it 6-0 Mets.  In the sixth Marcell Ozuna hit an RBI single making it 6-1 and in the seventh Jeff Mathis hit an RBI single and Austin Nola hit an RBI triple to cut the lead to 6-3.  In the bottom of the ninth Francisco Arcia hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-4 and Nola made it 6-5 on an RBI double.  The New York Mets are now 7-6 on the spring with a couple of ties and they will play at Tradition Field on Friday night against the Washington Nationals.
