New York Mets win second in a row over the Cincinnati Reds and five in a row overall



The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and pitched ok, the bullpen was good.  Curtis Granderson and Michael Conforto each had two hits. 

Colon pitched five innings giving up eight hits and three runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Logan Verrett pitched two innings giving up two hits and two walks with a strikeout and he won his third game of the season, Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Jeurys Familia saved his seventh game of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Brandon Finnegan pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Tony Cingrani pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, he lost his second game of the season and Caleb Cotham pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Granderson had two hits and Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and drew a walk and David Wright had a hit and an RBI.  Conforto had two hits, Wilmer Flores drew a walk and Juan Lagares drew a walk.  Kevin Plawecki had a hit, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and three RBI and Conforto hit a double.  Granderson hit a triple and Cespedes hit a homerun.  The Mets were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Granderson was caught stealing and so was Wright.  Flores committed an error and Colon had a pickoff. 

Zack Cozart had two hits, Tyler Holt had two hits and Joey Votto had an RBI and drew two walks.  Adam Duvall had two hits, Tucker Barnhart had two hits and Ivan De Jesus Jr. had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Billy Hamilton had a hit, Barnhart, Duvall and Cozart each hit a double.  De Jesus Jr. hit a homerun and the Reds were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Duvall and Holt were each caught stealing.  Finnegan and Cingrani each had a pickoff. 

In the third Votto hit a sac fly to give the Reds a 1-0 lead.  IN the fourth De Jesus hit a two run homerun to extend the lead to 3-0.  Cespedes hit a pinch hit three run homerun in the seventh to tie the game at three.  Wright hit an RBI single in the seventh to make it 4-3 and that was the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Wednesday night.  The Mets will be looking for the three game sweep and a six game winning streak.
