The New York Yankees take their second straight against the Kansas City Royals



The New York Yankees defeated the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 10-7.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he didn't pitch very well.  Brian McCann had three hits and Didi Gregorius had three RBI to lead the offense. 

Tanaka pitched seven innings giving up seven hits and six runs with no walks and four strikeouts.  Andrew Miller blew a save but won his second game of the season.  He pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman saved his first game of the season pitching an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one. 

Kris Medlen pitched two innings giving up six hits and four runs with three walks and no strikeouts.  Brian Flynn pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts, Danny Duffy pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Luke Hochevar pitched an inning and he struck out the side.  Joakiim Soria pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs and Kelvin Herrera pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two of them earned and he lost his first game of the season. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Starlin Castro had a hit and drew a walk and McCann had three hits and two RBI.  Carlos Beltran had two hits, Dustin Ackley had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Aaron Hicks had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Gregorius had two hits and three RBI, Chase Headley had a hit and an RBI, Gregorius hit two doubles and Beltran, Hicks, Gardner and McCann each hit a double.  The Yankees were 6-15 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Hicks was caught stealng. 

Alcides Escobar had a hit and drew on a walk, Lorenzo Cain had three hits and five RBI and Alex Gordon had a hit.  Salvador Perez had a hit, Cheslor Cuthbert had two hits and two RBI and Jarrod Dyson had a hit.  Gordon hit a double, Cuthbert hit a homerun and Cain hit three homeruns.  The Royals were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Escobar committed an error and Duffy had a pickoff. 

In the first Ackley hit a sac fly to make it 1-0 Yankees.  In the second Cuthbert hit a two run homerun giving the Royals a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the second Headley hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  In the third Cain hit a solo homerun to give the Royals a 3-2 lead.  In the bottom of the third Gregorius hit a three run double to make it 5-3 Yankees.  In the fifth Cain hit a three run homerun to give the Royals a 6-5 lead.  In the seventh Ackley hit an RBI single to tie the game at six.  Hicks hit an RBI double giving the Yankees a 7-6 lead.  In the eighth Cain hit a solo homerun to tie the game at seven.  In the eighth Gardner hit an RBI double to give the Yankees back the lead at 8-7 and McCann hit a two run double making it 10-7 Yankees.  The final score was 10-7 and the Yankees have won the first two games of the series.  

The two teams will play game three of four on Wednesday night.  If the Yankees can get the win they will take the series and if not the rubber game will be on Thursday night.
