The New York Mets are shutout by Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers



The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday night.  The game took place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California and the final score was 5-0.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and he didn't pitch that well, Sean Gilmartin pitched well out of the bullpen.  Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits and the rest of the team only managed one hit. 

Colon pitched five innings giving up seven hits and five runs with no walks and three strikeouts.  Gilmartin pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out three.  Colon took his second loss of the season. 

Clayton Kershaw started for the Dodgers and pitched a complete game shutout.  He gave up three hits and one walk with 13 strikeouts.  Kershaw earned his fifth win of the season. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, Cabrera had two hits and David Wright drew a walk.  Granderson hit a double and the Mets were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Chase Utley had three hits and an RBI, Cory Seager had a hit and Justin Turner had two hits and an RBI.  Adrian Gonzalez had a hit, Yasmani Grandal had a hit and three RBI and Grandal and Utley each hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 2-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

In the first Turner hit an RBI single and Grandal hit a three run homerun giving the Dodgers a 4-0 lead.  In the second Utley hit a solo homerun making it 5-0 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams split the four game series and the Mets will head to Colorado to start a three game series on Friday night.
