The New York Yankees win second in a row in Houston



The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 6-3.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and pitched well.  Jacoby Ellsbury had three hits to lead the offense. 

Sabathia pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  He won his sixth game of the season.  Anthony Swarzak pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and three strikeouts, Dellin Betances pitched 1/3 of an inning walking two and striking out one and Andrew Miller saved his ninth game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and struck out two. 

Doug Fister pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up nine hits and six runs with three walks and three strikeouts and he lost his seventh game of the season.  Chris Devenski pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out one, Tony Sipp pitched an inning giving up two hits and struck out three and Michael Feliz pitched a perfect inning striking out the side. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Ellsbury had three hits and Carlos Beltran had two hits.  Brian McCann had a hit, Mark Teixeira had two hits and drew a walk.  Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI, Starllin Castro had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Chase Headley had a hit and two RBI.  Aaron Hicks had a hit and two RBI, Teixeira and Ellsbury each hit a double and Hicks hit a triple.  The Yankees were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Ellsbury was caught stealing. 

George Springer drew a walk, Marwin Gonzalez had two hits and two RBI and Carlos Correa drew two walks.  Evan Gattis had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Alex Bregman drew a walk and Carlos Gomez had two hits.  Preston Tucker had a hit which was a double and Gonzalez and Gattis each hit a homerun.  The Astros were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

In the first Gonzalez hit a solo homerun giving the Astros a 1-0 lead.  In the second Gregorius hit a sac fly to tie the game at one.  Headley hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 2-1.  In the third Castro hit an RBI single to push the Yankees lead to 3-1.  Headley hit a sac fly in the fifth to make it a 4-1 game, still in the fifth Hicks hit a two run triple and it was 6-1 Yankees.  In the seventh Gattis hit a solo homerun and in the eighth Gonzalez hit a solo homerun making it 6-3. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of their series on Wednesday night.  The Yankees will then be off on Thursday and head to Tampa Bay on Friday to begin a three game series.
