Yankees lose a tight one in Game 2 of the ALCS

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros in Game 2 of the ALCS on Thursday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 3-2.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The bullpen pitched well and the offense didn’t produce much. 

Severino pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Severino took his first loss of the postseason.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk and Wandy Peralta pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits. 

Franmer Valdez won his first game of the postseason pitching seven innings and giving up four hits and two unearned runs.  He walked none and struck out nine.  Bryan Abreu pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Ryan Pressly saved his third game of the postseason pitching an inning and giving up a walk and three strikeouts. 

Harrison Bader had a hit and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and Anthony Rizzo had an RBI.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI, Josh Donaldson had a hit and drew a walk and Donaldson hit a double and the Yankees were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Peralta had a pickoff. 

Jeremy Pena had a hit, Yordan Alvarez had a hit and Alex Bregman had two hits and three RBI.  Kyle Tucker had a hit and drew a walk, Yuli Gurriel had two hits and Martin Maldonado had a hit and drew a walk.  Bregman hit a homerun and the Astros were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Alvarez was picked off first base and Valdez committed two errors. 

In the bottom of the third Bregman hit a three-run homerun giving the Astros a 3-0 lead.  In the fourth Rizzo hit an RBI groundout and Torres hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 3-2.  3-2 would be the final score of the game.  The two teams will have a travel day on Friday and then resume the series at Yankee Stadium on Saturday evening. 

New York Yankees fall in Game 1 ALCS to the Houston Astros

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros in Game 1 of the ALCS on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 4-2.  Jameson Taillon started for the Yankees and he was ok.  The bullpen wasn’t great and the offense was led by Giancarlo Stanton who had two hits. 

Taillon pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with three walks.  Clarke Schmidt lost his second game of the postseason pitching an inning and giving up two hits and two runs with two walks, Lou Trivino pitched 2/3 of an inning and had a strikeout and Frankie Montas pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout.  Miguel Castro pitched a perfect inning. 

Justin Verlander won his first game of the postseason pitching six innings and giving up three hits and a run with a walk and 11 strikeouts.  Hector Neris pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Rafael Montero pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a  walk and two strikeouts and Ryan Pressly saved his second game of the postseason pitching 1 1/3 perfect innings with three strikeouts. 

Anthony Rizzo had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Stanton had two hits and Josh Donaldson drew a walk.  Harrison Bader had a hit and an RBI, Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit and Stanton hit a double.  Bader and Rizzo each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Jose Altuve drew a walk, Jeremy Pena had three hits and an RBI and Yordan Alvarez drew two walks.  Alex Bregman drew a walk, Yuli Gurriel had a hit and an RBI and Chas McCormick had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Martin Maldonado had a hit and an RBI.  Pena hit two doubles and Maldonado hit a double.  Gurriel, McCormick and Pena each hit a homerun.  The Astros were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Altuve committed an error. 

In the second Bader hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Maldonado hit an RBI double to tie the score at one.  In the bottom of the sixth Gurriel hit a solo homerun and McCormich hit a solo homerun pushing the Astros lead to 3-1.  In the bottom of the seventh Pena hit a solo homerun making it 4-1 Astros.  In the eighth inning Rizzo hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-2 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of the series on Thursday night.

The New York Yankees shutout the Astros again in a thrilling victory

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Saturday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 1-0.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees and he was brilliant.  Aaron Judge hit a homerun to account for the only run of the game. 

Cole pitched a complete game shutout.  He gave up three hits and two walks and struck out 12 batters. 

Zack Greinke started for the Astros and he pitched four innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts.  Greinke took his third loss of the season.  Cristian Javier pitched three innings giving up a hit and a walk with five strikeouts, Ryne Stanek pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked a batter and Ryan Pressly pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, Judge had a hit and an RBI and Luke Voit had a hit and drew a walk.  Giancarlo Stanton drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Gio Urshela had a hit.  Brett Gardner had a hit, Kyle Higashioka drew a walk and Torres hit a double.  Judge hit a homerun and the Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Jose Altuve had a hit and drew a walk, Michael Brantley drew a walk and Lourdes Gurriel had a hit.  Abraham Toro had a hit.  The Astros were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Toro had a stolen base. 

In the third Judge hit a solo homerun and that would be the only scoring of the game.  The Yankees would hang on and win the ballgame 1-0.  They will go for the three-game sweep to close out the first half of the season on Sunday afternoon.   

New York Yankees shutout the Houston Astros

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Friday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 4-0.  Nestor Cortes started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen did a great job and DJ LeMahieu, Aaron Judge, Gleyber Torres and Gio Urshela each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Cortes pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up two hits and no runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Lucas Luetge won his third game of the season pitching 1 1/3 perfect innings with a strikeout, Chad Green pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Jonathan Loaisiga pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Jake Odorizzi started for the Astros and he pitched six innings giving up seven hits and two runs.  He walked none and struck out four and lost his fourth game of the season.  Bryan Abreu pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and Brandon Bielak pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and he struck out two. 

LeMahieu had two hits and two RBI, Judge had two hits and Gary Sanchez had a hit.  Torres had two hits, Roughned Odor had a hit and Urshela had two hits.  Brett Gardner had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Tyler Wade had a hit and Gardner, Wade, LeMahieu and Judge each hit a double.  The Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  LeMahieu had a stolen base. 

Yordan Alvarez had a hit, Kyle Tucker had two hits and Robel Garcia drew two walks.  Tucker hit a double and the Astros were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Toro committed an error. 

In the fourth Gardner hit a two-run double to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the seventh LeMahieu hit a two-run double to extend the lead to 4-0 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.

New York Mets take down the Houston Astros

 

The New York Mets defeated the Houston Astros on Saturday.  The game took place at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, Florida.  The final score was 6-1 in six innings.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Pete Alonso and James McCann each had a couple of hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched two innings giving up one hit and no runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  He won his first game of the spring.  Edwin Diaz pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Miguel Castro pitched an inning with a walk and Tommy Hunter pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Mike Montgomery pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Ronny Muricio had a hit and an RBI, Michael Conforto had a hit and Khalil Lee drew a walk.  Pete Alonso had two hits and an RBI, Dom Smith had a hit and two RBI and James McCann had two hits.  Kevin Pillar had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Pete Crow-Armstrong had a hit and Albert Almora Jr. had a hit and an RBI.  Alonso hit two doubles, McCann hit a double and Crow-Armstrong hit a triple.  Smith hit a homerun and the Mets were 3-12 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Davis was caught stealing and Mauricio committed an error. 

In the first Alonso hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Almora Jr. hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the fourth Smith hit a solo homerun to make the game 3-0.  Pillar hit an RBI single and the lead was up to 4-0.  In the fifth Smith reached on a fielder’s choice and a run scored making it a 5-0 game.  In the sixth Mauricio hit an RBI single making it 6-0.  In the bottom of the sixth Freudis Nova hit an RBI double to get the Astros on the board and 6-1 would be the final score. 

The Mets will take on the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon in Port St. Lucie.

New York Yankees lose in heartbreaking fashion in Game 6 as Houston Astros clinch the pennant


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Saturday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 5-3.  Chad Green was the opener for the Yankees and didn’t pitch well, most of the bullpen behind him pitched well.   Gio Urshela had three hits and Didi had two hits to lead the offense. 

Green pitched an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout.  J.A. Happ pitched two innings giving up a walk, Luis Cessa pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Adam Ottavino pitched an inning with a strikeout, Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked two and Aroldis Chapman took the loss pitching 2/3 of an inning and giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout. 

Brad Peacock started for the Astros and he pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Josh James pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks with a strikeout, Ryan Pressly pitched to one batter and got him out and Jose Urquidy pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Will Harris pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit, Joe Smith pitched an inning giving up a hit and a strikeout and Roberto Osuna pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two strikeouts.  Osuna won the game and he also blew the save. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and two RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had a hit.  Edwin Encarnacion drew a walk, Gregorius had two hits and Gary Sanchez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Urshela had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Brett Gardner had a hit.  Gregorius hit a double, Urshela and LeMahieu each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Sanchez had a passed ball. 

George Springer drew two walks, Jose Altuve had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Michael Brantley had a hit and drew a walk.  Alex Bregman had an RBI and drew a walk, Yuli Gurriel had two hits and three RBI and Carlos Correa drew a walk.  Martin Maldonado had a hit, Altuve hit a double and Gurriel and Altuve each hit a homerun.  The Astros were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Correa had a stolen base and Brantley had an outfield assist. 

In the first Gurriel hit a three-run homerun to give the Astros a 3-0 lead.  In the second Sanchez hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the fourth Urshela hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the sixth Bregman hit an RBI ground out to push the lead to 4-2.  In the ninth LeMahieu hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at four.  In the bottom of the ninth Altuve hit a walk-off two-run homerun to win the game and the series for the Astros.  The final score was 6-4.

New York Yankees win Game 5 to survive and head to Houston


The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros in Game 5 on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-1.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he pitched very well.  The Yankees offense struck all in the first inning led by Aaron Hicks three-run homerun. 

Paxton pitched six innings giving up four hits and a run with four walks and nine strikeouts.  Paxton earned the win.  Tommy Khanle pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk, Zack Britton pitched 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman earned his first save of the season pitching an inning with a strikeout. 

Justin Verlander pitched seven innings giving up five hits and four runs with no walks and nine strikeouts.  Verlander took the loss and Brad Peacock pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and Gleyber Torres had a hit.  Hicks had a hit and three RBI, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Torres hit a double.  LeMahieu and Hicks each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left one man on base.  Sanchez had a passed ball. 

George Springer had two hits, Jose Altuve drew two walks and Michael Brantley drew a walk.  Alex Bregman had a hit, Carlos Correa had a hit and drew two walks and Jake Marisnick had a hit.  The Astros were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the first a wild pitch gave the Astros a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first LeMahieu hit a solo homerun to tie the game and Hicks hit a three-run homerun giving the Yankees a 4-1 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game six on Saturday night in Houston.

New York Yankees drop Game 2 in extra innings to even the ALCS


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Sunday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 3-2 in 11 innings.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and didn’t have his control and didn’t last long.  The Yankees bullpen pitched well and Aaron Judge produced the only runs with a two run homerun. 

James Paxton pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with two walks and three strikeouts.  Chad Green pitched two innings giving up two strikeouts, Adam Ottavino pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and Tommy Khanle pitched 2 1/3 innings with two strikeouts.  Zack Britton pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout, Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with a walk and three strikeouts and CC Sabathia faced one batter and got him out.  Jonathan Loaisiga gave up two walks without recording an out and J.A. Happ took the loss pitching 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Justin Verlander pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Will Harris pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two, Roberto Osuna pitched 1 2/3 innings with two strikeouts and Joe Smith pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a walk.  Ryan Pressly pitched giving up a hit and not recording an out and Josh James won the game pitching to one batter and striking him out.

George Springer had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Michael Brantley had a hit and Jose Altuve had two hits and drew a walk.  Alex Bregman had a hit and drew two walks, Yordan Alvarez drew a walk and Carlos Correa had two hits and two RBI.  Aledmys Diaz drew a walk, Correa hit a double and Springer and Correa each hit a homerun.  The Astros were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base. 

In the second Correa hit an RBI double to give the Astros a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Judge hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the fifth Springer hit a solo homerun tying the game at two.  In the 11th inning Correa hit a solo homerun to give the Astros a 3-2 walk-off win.  The series is tied 1-1 and will head to the Bronx for the next three games beginning on Tuesday afternoon.   

New York Yankees take Game 1 of ALCS at the Houston Astros


The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Saturday night in Game 1 of the ALCS.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 7-0.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched brilliantly.  The Yankees bullpen finished the job and the offense was led by Gleyber Torres who had five RBI. 

Tanaka pitched six innings giving up one hit and no runs.  He walked one and struck out four and picked up the victory.  Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up two hits and no runs, Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and Jonathan Loaisiga pitched a perfect inning. 

Zack Greinke pitched six innings giving up seven hits and three runs.  He walked none and struck out six and took the loss.  Ryan Pressly pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and two runs with a strikeout, Josh James pitched 1 1/3 innings with three strikeouts and Bryan Abreu pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two walks.  Hector Rondon pitched to one batter and struck him out.

In the fourth Torres hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead and in the sixth a Torres solo homerun pushed the lead to 2-0.  Stanton hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 3-0.  In the seventh Torres hit a two-run single and the lead was pushed to 5-0.  In the ninth Urshela hit a solo homerun and Torres hit an RBI ground out to make it 7-0 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have a 1-0 series lead and the two teams will play game two on Sunday night.

New York Yankees fail to sweep the Houston Astros


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 9-4.  J.A. Happ started for the Yankees and he pitched very poorly.  DJ LeMahieu led their offense with three hits. 

Happ pitched four innings giving up 11 hits and eight runs with two strikeouts.  Happ lost his fourth game of the season.  Luis Cessa pitched four innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and four strikeouts and David Hale pitched an inning walking one and striking out one. 

Justin Verlander pitched seven innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and nine strikeouts.  Verlander won his 10th game of the season.  Chris Devenski pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Roberto Osuna pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

LeMahieu had three hits and three RBI, Aaron Judge had an RBI and Luke Voit drew a walk.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, Aaron Hicks had a hit and Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk.  LeMahieu hit a triple and a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Jose Altuve had two hits and an RBI, Alex Bregman drew a walk and Michael Brantley had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Yordan Alvarez had two hits and two RBI, Yuri Gurriel had two hits and an RBI and Robinson Chirinos had a hit.  Josh Reddick had two hits, Tyler White had a hit and four RBI and Jake Marisnick had two hits.  Altuve hit a double and a homerun and White, Alvarez and Gurriel each hit a homerun.  The Astros were 3-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the first Altuve hit a solo homerun to give the Astros a 1-0 lead.  In the third Brantley hit an RBI single and it was 2-0 Astros.  In the fourth White hit a grand slam to push the Astros lead to 6-0.  In the fifth Alvarez hit a two-run homerun and it was 8-0 Astros.  Gurriel hit a solo homerun and the Astros led 9-0.  In the bottom of the fifth LeMahieu hit a three-run homerun to cut the lead to 9-3.  In the eighth Judge hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 9-4 and that was the final score. 

The Yankees won three out of four in the series and will remain home to take on the Blue Jays for three on Monday night.   

New York Yankees defeat the Houston Astros in back and forth game


The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Saturday.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium and the final score was 7-5.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Giancarlo Stanton led the offense with a couple of hits and four RBI. 

Tanaka pitched six innings giving up eight hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Jonathan Holder won his fifth game of the season pitching an inning and giving up three hits and three runs, Adam Ottavino pitched an inning with two walks and two strikeouts and Zach Britton saved his third game of the season pitching an inning and walking three. 

Wade Miley pitched five innings giving up two hits and four runs with four walks and seven strikeouts.  Will Harris pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two, Ryan Pressly pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs with two of them being earned and he struck out two and Reymin Guduan pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.

In the fifth Urshela hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth Reddick hit a two-run homerun to tie the game.  In the bottom of the sixth Stanton hit a two-run single to give the Yankees a 4-2 lead.  In the seventh Alvarez hit a three-run homerun to give the Astros a 5-4 lead and in the bottom of the seventh Romine hit a solo homerun and Stanton hit a two-run single to give the Yankees a 7-5 lead which was the final score.  The Yankees have taken the first three games of the series and will try and sweep the four game series on Sunday afternoon.

New York Yankees defeat the Houston Astros


The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-1.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and pitched well although his control wasn’t great.  The Yankees bullpen was good and Gary Sanchez and Didi Gregorius each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Paxton pitched five innings giving up five hits and a run with three walks and seven strikeouts.  Paxton won his fifth game of the season.  Adam Ottavino pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out two, Tommy Khanle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up two walks.  Aroldis Chapman saved his 21st game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he walked one and struck out two. 

Brad Peacock lost his fifth game of the season pitching six innings and giving up five hits and two runs.  He walked none and struck out 11.  Hector Rondon pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs and Chris Devenski pitched an inning and struck out one. 

Sanchez had two hits and two RBI, Gregorius had two hits and Brett Gardner had a hit.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and two RBI, Gio Urshela had a hit and Cameron Maybin had a hit.  Sanchez and Gardner each hit a double and Sanchez and Torres each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-4 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Jose Altuve had three hits and drew a walk, Yordan Alvarez drew a walk and Yuli Gurriel had a hit and drew a walk.  Robinson Chirinos drew a walk, Tyler White had a hit and drew two walks and Jake Marisnick had a hit and an RBI.  Myles Straw had a hit and drew a walk, Straw hit a double and White, Marisnick and Gurriel each hit a double.  The Astros were 1-13 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Bregman committed an error. 

In the third Sanchez hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Marisnick hi an RBI double to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the seventh Torres hit a two-run homerun to push the Yankees lead to 4-1 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have taken the first two games of their series and will try to make it three in a row in the series and eight in a row on Saturday night.

New York Yankees hold off the Houston Astros


The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Thursday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 10-6.  Chad Green started as the opener and pitched well, the bullpen didn’t pitch very well.  Giancarlo Stanton had three hits and Gary Sanchez and Gleyber Torres each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Green pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out three.  Nestor Cortes Jr. won his second game of the season pitching three innings and giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts, David Hale pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman saved his 20th game of the season.  Chapman pitched to one batter and got him out.   

Framber Valdez pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up four hits and five runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Valdez lost his third game of the season.  Chris Devenski pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run, Josh James pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Hector Rondon pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts.  Rogelio Armenteros pitched two innings giving up four hits and two runs with a  walk and three strikeouts. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Luke Voit had a hit and Sanchez had two hits and an RBI.  Stanton had three hits, Edwin Encarnacion had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks and Torres had two hits and three RBI.  Cameron Maybin had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk and Stanton and Maybin each hit a double.  Sanchez, Torres and LeMahieu each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Maybin had a stolen base. 

Alex Bregman had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Michael Brantley had a hit and Jose Altuve had a hit.  Yordan Alvarez had two hits and two RBI, Yuli Gurriel had a hit and Josh Reddick had two hits and an RBI.  Robinson Chirinos had a hit, Jake Marisnick had three hits and two RBI and Alvarez hit a double.  Marisnick hit two homeruns and Bregman and Alvarez each hit a homerun.  The Astros were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the fourth Sanchez hit a solo homerun and Torres hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 4-0 lead.  LeMahieu hit a two-run homerun and it was 6-0 Yankees.  In the fifth Marisnick hit a solo homerun and Bregman hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-2.  In the fifth Maybin hit a two-run double and the lead was 8-2 Yankees.  In the sixth Alvarez hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 8-3.  In the seventh Encarnacion hit a two-run homerun to push the Yankees lead to 10-3.  In the eighth Reddick hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 10-4 and in the ninth Marisnick hit a solo homerun and Alvarez hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 10-6 which was the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of four on Friday night.

New York Yankees are swept away in Houston


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 8-6.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch very well.  Tommy Khanle wasn’t good out of the bullpen and DJ LeMahieu led the offense with three hits. 

Paxton lost his second game of the season pitching four innings giving up eight hits and five runs.  He walked three and struck out five.  Khanle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and two runs, Joe Harvey pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts in his major league debut.  Stephen Tarpley pitched to one batter and got him out and Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Colin McHugh pitched six innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and nine strikeouts.  McHugh won his second game of the season.  Chris Devenski pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one, Josh James pitched giving up two hits and four runs with two walks and Hector Rendon pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit.  Ryan Pressly pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Luke Voit had a hit and two RBI.  Gleyber Torres had two hits, Greg Bird had a hit and drew two walks and LeMahieu had three hits and two RBI.  Clint Frazier had an RBI, Tyler Wade had a hit, LeMahieu and Torres each hit a double and Voit and Gardner each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Torres committed an error. 

George Springer had a hit and an RBI, Jose Altuve had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Michael Brantley had two hits and drew a walk.  Carlos Correa had three hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Yuri Gurriel had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Tyler White had a hit.  Aledmys Diaz had two hits, Max Stassi had a hit and Jake Marisnick had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Correa and Marisnick each hit a double.  Gurriel hit a triple and Correa hit a homerun.  Altuve hit two homeruns and the Astros were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Springer had a stolen base. 

In the first Gardner hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Gurriel hit a two-run triple to give the Astros a 2-1 lead.  In the third Correa hit an RBI double and it was 3-1 Astros.  In the fourth LeMahieu hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the bottom of the fifth Altuve hit a solo homerun pushing their lead to 4-2.  Correa hit a two-run homerun and it was 6-2.  Marisnick hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 7-2.  In the eighth Voit hit a two-run homerun cutting the lead to 7-4.  LeMahieu hit an RBI double and Frazier hit a sac fly cutting the lead to 7-6.  In the eighth Springer hit an RBI single to make it 8-6 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees were swept in the three-game series and will have a day off on Thursday before beginning a three-game series with the Chicago White Sox at home on Friday night.

New York Yankees get doubled up by the Houston Astros


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 6-3.  Jonathan Loaisiga started for the Yankees and was ok, the bullpen struggled.  Gary Sanchez led the offense with a couple of hits and RBI. 

Loaisiga pitched three innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Stephen Tarpley pitched an inning giving up a hit, Luis Cessa pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts and Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Chad Green lost his second game of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two walks and Tommy Khanle pitched to two batters and struck them both out. 

Gerrit Cole pitched seven innings giving up four hits and three runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  Hector Rondon pitched an inning giving up a hit and struck out two and picked up his first win of the season.  Roberto Osuna earned his fourth save of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Luke Voit had a hit and an RBI.  Sanchez had two hits and two RBI, Gio Urshela drew a walk and Austin Romine had a hit.  Sanchez hit a double and Voit hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Gardner committed an error and Romine had a passed ball. 

George Springer had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Jose Altuve had two hits and two RBI and Alex Bregman had a hit and drew a walk.  Michael Brantley had three hits and an RBI, Carlos Correa drew a walk and Yuri Gurriel had a hit and an RBI.  Josh Reddick had two hits, Robinson Chirinos had a hit and drew a walk.  Tony Kemp drew a walk, Brantley had two doubles and Springer and Bregman each hit a double.  Altuve hit a homerun and the Astros were 3-15 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Correa and Bregman had a stolen base. 

In the first Voit hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Gurriel hit a sac fly to tie the game at one.  In the third Altuve hit a solo homerun to give the Astros a 2-1 lead.  In the sixth Sanchez hit a two-run double to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the seventh Brantley hit an RBI double tying the game at three.  In the eighth Springer hit a two-run double to give the Astros a 5-3 lead and Altuve hit a sac fly making it a 6-3 game and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series with the Yankees trying to avoid the sweep on Wednesday night.

The New York Yankees lose a tough one in Houston


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Monday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 4-3.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and pitched well, the bullpen didn’t pitch well.  Aaron Judge and Clint Frazier led the offense with two hits each. 

Tanaka pitched six innings giving up three hits and a run with two walks and three strikeouts.  Zack Britton pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and Adam Ottavino lost his first game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up two hits and a run with a walk and four strikeouts. 

Justin Verlander pitched six innings giving up seven hits and three runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Will Harris pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Ryan Pressly pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and won his first game of the season and Roberto Osuna pitched a perfect inning and picked up his third save of the season.

New York Yankees lose a close one to the Houston Astros


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, Florida and the final score was 2-1.  Jonathan Holder started for the Yankees as the opener and pitched well.  Luke Voit had two hits to lead the offense. 

Holder pitched two innings giving up no hits or runs with a walk.  Nestor Cortes Jr. pitched three innings giving up four hits and an unearned run with three strikeouts, Joe Harvey pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts and Rex Brothers pitched an inning with three walks and two strikeouts. 

Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew two walks, Voit had two hits and Greg Bird drew a walk.  Zack Zehner drew a walk, Gary Sanchez had a hit and an RBI and Thairo Estrada drew a walk.  Sanchez hit a double and the Yankees were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Voit had a stolen base.  Clint Frazier and Miguel Andujar each committed an error. 

In the first Sanchez hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Springer lined out and a run scored on a throwing error by Andujar to tie the game at one.  IN the sixth Carlos Correa hit a solo homerun giving the Astros a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees will take on the St. Louis Cardinals in Jupiter, Florida on Thursday afternoon.

The New York Mets are doubled up by the Houston Astros


 The New York Mets were defeated by the Houston Astros on Monday.  The game took place at Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in Palm Beach, Florida and the final score was 6-3.  Jason Vargas started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Brandon Nimmo led the offense with three hits and Devin Mesoraco had a couple of hits. 

Vargas pitched four innings giving up three hits and he struck out three.  Seth Lugo pitched a perfect inning, Luis Avilan pitched an inning giving up four hits and two runs with a strikeout and Jacob Rhame pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Eric Hanhold pitched 2/3 of an inning and retired both batters that he faced. 

Nimmo had three hits and an RBI, Braxton Lee drew a walk and Jeff McNeil had a hit.   Cano drew a walk, Luis Guillorme drew a walk and Michael Conforto had a hit.  Peter Alonso had a hit, Danny Espinosa had a hit and Gregor Blanco had a hit and an RBI.  Mesoraco had two hits and an RBI, Adeiny Hechavarria had a hit, Alonso and Nimmo each hit a double.  Mesoraco hit two doubles, Blanco hit a triple and the Mets were 4-14 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base. 

In the second Blanco hit an RBI triple to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Mesoraco hit an RBI doublue and Nimmo hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0.  In the sixth Yuli Gurriel hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 3-1 and Yordan Alvarez hit an RBI single to make it a 3-2 game.  In the seventh Nick Tanielu hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three.  In the eighth Kyle Tucker hit a two-run double and Tanielu reached on a fielding error and a run scored to make it a 6-3 game which was the final score.

New York Yankees defeat the Houston Astros and win series


The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-3.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he pitched very well.  The bullpen did their job to close out the game and Aaron Judge had two hits and Gary Sanchez had two RBI to lead the offense. 

Severino pitched seven innings giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and 11 strikeouts.  Severino picked up his eighth win of the season.  David Robertson pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out two and Aroldis Chapman saved his 12th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Dallas Keuchel lost his seventh game of the season pitching five innings and giving up seven hits and four runs with three walks and seven strikeouts.  Collin McHugh pitched three innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and three strikeouts. 

Aaron Hicks had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had two hits and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Sanchez had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI.  Austin Romine had a hit and drew a walk, Torres and Hicks each hit a double and the Yankees were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Gregorius was caught stealing and Andujar committed an error. 

Alex Bregman had a hit, Jose Altuve had two hits and Yuli Gurriel had a hit.  Marwin Gonzalez drew a walk, Evan Gattis had a hit and Max Stassi had two hits and three RBI.  Stassi hit a double and a homerun and the Astros were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the first Stanton hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Stassi hit a two-run homerun to give the Astros a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth Sanchez hit a two-run single to give the Yankees back the lead at 3-2.  In the sixth Gregorius hit an RBI single to push the lead to 4-2 and Hicks hit an RBI double to make it 5-2.  In the ninth Stassi hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 5-3 but that would be the final score.  The Yankees took two out of three in the series and finished the homestand at 4-2.  They will head to Baltimore to start a four game series on Thursday night.

New York Yankees win a thrilling game over the Astros


The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Tuesday night in ten innings.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-5.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he was shaky, the bullpen pitched well and the offense was led by Brett Gardner who had four hits. 

Sabathia pitched five innings giving up eight hits and five runs with three being earned.  He walked two and struck out four.  Jonathan Holder pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out one, David Robertson pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Dellin Betances pitched an inning with two walks and two strikeouts.  Aroldis Chapman earned his second win of the season pitching an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Charlie Morton pitched six innings giving up eight hits and three runs with a walk and ten strikeouts.  Tony Sipp pitched to one batter and gave up a hit, Joe Smith pitched an inning with a strikeout and Hector Rondon pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Chris Devenski pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and three strikeouts and Brad Peacock lost his first game of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning and giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Gardner had four hits and three RBI, Aaron Judge had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Greg Bird had a hit.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, Didi Gregorius had two hits and Miguel Andujar had two hits and drew a walk.  Gleyber Torres had two hits and two RBI, Bird and Judge each hit a double and Andujar hit two doubles.  Gardner hit two homeruns and Judge hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Torres committed two errors, Andujar, Sabathia and Sanchez each committed an error.  Judge had an outfield assist.

Davis had a hit.  Marwin Gonzalez had two hits and two RBI, Max Stassi had a hit and Tony Kemp drew two walks.  Gonzalez and Stassi each hit a double and Gattis hit a homerun.  The Astros were 3-17 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Gurriel and Bregman each had a stolen base and Stassi had a passed ball. 

In the first Garder hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Gattis hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the second Torres hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the fourth Gonzalez hit a two-run double to give the Astros a 3-2 lead.  In the fifth Gurriel hti an RBI single to push the Astros lead to 4-2.  Gattis hit a sac fly and it was 5-2 Astros.  In the bottom of the fifth Judge hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-3.  In the ninth Gardner hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at five and in the tenth Torres hit a walk-off RBI single to give the Yankees a 6-5 victory. 

The two teams will play the third and final game, the rubber game of the series on Wednesday night.
