New York Mets rout the Atlanta Braves



The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 10-3.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched well.  The Mets bullpen was pretty good and Jose Reyes had two hits and Asdrubal Cabrera had three hits. 

Lugo pitched seven innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Lugo won his fourth game of the season.  Sean Gilmartin pitched an inning giving up two hits, Logan Verrett pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and a run with a walk and Josh Edgin pitched 2/3 of an inning. 

Williams Perez pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up four hits and five runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Joel De La Cruz pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout, Jed Bradley pitched three innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Brandon Cunniff pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts. 

Reyes had two hits, Cabrera had three hits and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and five RBI with a walk.  Michael Conforto drew a walk, Kelly Johnson had a hit and an RBI and Alejandro De Aza had a hit and an RBI.  James Loney had two hits and two RBI, Rene Rivera had a hit and drew a walk and Lugo had an RBI an drew a walk.  Loney hit a double, Cabrera hit a triple and Cespedes and Loney each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 5-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Ender Inciarte had two hits, Adonis Garcia had a hit and Freddie Freeman had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Matt Kemp had two hits, Nick Markakis had a hit and an RBI and Anthony Recker drew a walk.  Brandon Snyder had a hit and an RBI, Daniel Castro had a hit and Gordon Beckham had a hit.  Jace Peterson had a hit, Garcia and Kemp each hit a double.  Snyder hit a homerun and the Braves were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Inciarte was caught stealing. 

In the first Cespedes hit an RBI ground out giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Cespedes hit a grand slam to extend their lead to 5-0.  In the fourth Loney hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 6-0.  Freeman hit an RBI single in the fourth to cut the lead to 6-1.  In the fifth Johnson hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 7-1 lead.  De Aza hit an RBI single and it was 8-1 Mets.  Loney hit an RBI double still in the fifth to push the lead to 9-1 and Lugo hit a sac fly to make it 10-1.  In the seventh Snyder hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 10-2 and in the ninth Markakis hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 10-3 which would be the final score. 

The Mets will head to Washington to take on the Nationals beginning on Monday night.
