New York Mets lose to the Atlanta Braves


The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday.  The game took place at SunTrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 6-4.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched well, Seth Lugo did not pitch well in relief.  Amed Rosario led the offense with four hits. 

Matz pitched six innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Lugo lost his third game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning and giving up five hits and five runs with a walk, Luis Avilan pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning with two walks and two strikeouts. 

Dallas Keuchel pitched six innings giving up five hits and no runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Sean Newcomb pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run, Chris Martin pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run and he won his first game of the season and Shane Greene pitched an inning with a strikeout.  Mark Melancon pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and two runs with a strikeout and Jerry Blevins saved his first game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning with a strikeout. 

Rosario had four hits and an RBI, J.D. Davis had two hits and two RBI and Luis Guillorme had a hit and an RBI.  Wilson Ramos had a hit and drew a walk, Michael Conforto drew a walk and Juan Lagares had a hit.  Matz had two hits, Joe Panik had a hit and Panik hit a double.  The Mets were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Davis had a stolen base and Conforto had an outfield assist. 

Ronald Acuna Jr. had a hit and an RBI, Ozzie Albies had a hit and an RBI and Josh Donaldson had a hit and drew two walks.  Adam Duvall had a hit and drew a walk, Johan Camargo had a hit and Ender Inciarte had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Tyler Flowers had a hit and an RBI, Matt Joyce had an RBI and Inciarte hit a double and the Braves were 6-12 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Camargo committed an error. 

In the second Inciarte hit an RBI double to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.  In the seventh Davis hit a two-run single to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the seventh Inciarte hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  Flowers hit an RBI single to give the Braves a 3-2 lead, Joyce lined into a force out and a run scored , Acuna hit an RBI single and it was 5-2.  Albies hit an RBI single and the lead was pushed to 6-2.  In the ninth Rosario hit an RBI single and Guillorme hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 6-4 but that would be the final score.

New York Mets get shutout by the Washington Nationals in home opener


The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Thursday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-0.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched well, Seth Lugo was not good out of the bullpen.  Wilson Ramos had two hits to lead the Mets offense, the rest of the team only managed two hits. 

Syndergaard pitched six innings giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  He took his first loss of the season.  Justin Wilson pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Jeurys Familia pitched an inning with a walk and struck out the side and Lugo pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs.  Tim Peterson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a walk. 

Stephen Strasburg pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up three hits and no runs with a walk and nine strikeouts.  Strasburg won his first game of the season.  Matt Grace to one batter and struck him out, Justin Miller pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and Tony Sipp pitched to one batter and struck him out.  Sean Doolittle pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Brandon Nimmo drew a walk, Robinson Cano drew a walk and Ramos had two hits.  Jeff McNeil had a hit, Amed Rosario had a hit and the Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Adam Eaton drew a walk, Anthony Rendon had a hit and Juan Soto had a hit and drew a walk.  Ryan Zimmerman had an RBI and drew a walk, Yan Gomes had a hit and Wilmer Difo had a hit and two RBI.  Victor Robles had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Rendon hit a double, Robles hit a homerun and the Nationals were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Eaton had a stolen base and Strasburg and Rendon each committed an error. 

In the second Difo hit a sac bunt to give the Nationals a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Robles hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  In the ninth Zimmerman hit a sac fly, Difo hit an RBI single and the lead was 4-0 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will be off on Monday and resume their service on Saturday afternoon.

The New York Mets lose to the Pittsburgh Pirates


The New York Mets were defeated by the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-4.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched ok and Jose Reyes had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lugo lost his third game of the season pitching five innings and giving up four hits and three runs with one of them being earned.  He walked three and struck out four.  Tyler Bashlor pitched two innings giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and Robert Gsellman pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and three strikeouts. 

Jameson Taillon pitched six innings giving up four hits and two runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Taillon won his fifth game of the season.  Tyler Glasnow pitched giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and didn’t record an out, Steven Brault pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Kyle Crick pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk and he struck out two.  Felipe Vazquez pitched an inning with three strikeouts and heh earned his 15th save of the season. 

Michael Conforto drew two walks, Jose Bautista drew a walk and Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and drew a walk.  Devin Mesoraco had a hit and drew a walk, Reyes had two hits and Kevin Plawecki had a hit and an RBI.  Luis Guillorme drew a walk, Wilmer Flores had a hit and three RBI.  Reyes and Plawecki each hit a double and Flores hit a homerun.  The Mets were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Guillorme committed two errors and Cabrera committed an error. 

Starling Marte had a hit and drew a walk, Josh Bell had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Josh Harrison had a hit and an RBI.  Colin Moran had a hit and drew a walk, Elias Diaz had two hits and two RBI and Corey Dickerson drew a walk.  Gregory Polanco had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Moran hit a double and Polanco and Belle each hit a homerun.  The Pirates were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Marte had two stolen bases and Moran committed an error. 

In the first Harrison hit a sac fly to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead.  In the second Polanco hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  In the third Diaz hit an RBI single and it was 3-0.  In the sixth Bell hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 5-0.  In the seventh Plawecki hit an RBI double and Flores hit a three-run homerun to cut the lead to 5-4.  In the ninth Diaz hit a sac fly to push the lead to 6-4.

New York Mets lose a slug fest in Colorado


The New York Mets were defeated by the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 10-8.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  Dominic Smith had three hits to lead the offense. 

Lugo pitched three innings giving up six hits and six runs with three of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out five.  Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked one, Robert Gsellman lost his second game of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and Anthony Swarzak pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Chad Bettis pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up nine hits and eight runs with five walks and four strikeouts.  Chris Rusin pitched giving up a hit and two walks and he didn’t record an out, Bryan Shaw pitched 1/3 of an inning winning his third game of the season and Harrison Musgrave pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked two.  Jake McGee pitched an inning with a strikeout, Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Wade Davis saved his 21st game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Michael Conforto had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Todd Frazier had a hit and an RBI, Smith had three hits and Wilmer Flores had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Devin Mesoraco had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Jose Reyes had a hit and drew two walks and Luis Guillorme drew a walk.  Jose Bautista drew a walk, Amed Rosario had a hit and Cabrera, Mesoraco, Reyes and Smith each hit a double.  Smith hit a triple and the Mets were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Frazier and Reyes each committed an error and Mesoraco had a passed ball. 

DJ LeMahieu had three hits and an RBI, Charlie Blackmon had a hit and an RBI and Nolan Arenado had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Carlos Gonzalez had a hit and drew a walk, Gerardo Parra had two hits and two RBI and Ian Desmond drew three walks.  Tom Murphy had two hits and an RBI, Bettis had an RBI and Ryan McMahon had a hit and three RBI.  Arenado, McMahon and Blackmon each hit a homerun and the Rockies were 5-12 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Murphy was caught stealing. 

In the first Conforto hit an RBI single, Mesoraco hit a two-run double and it was 3-0 Mets.  In the bottom of the first Arenado hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the second Frazier hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-1.  In the bottom of the second Parra hit an RBI single to cut it to 4-2.  Bettis hit an RBI ground out to make it 4-3 and LeMahieu hit an RBI single to tie the game at four.  In the third Parra hit an RBI single, Murphy hit an RBI single and the Rockies had a 6-4 lead.  In the fifth Flores hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 6-5.  Nimmo drew an RBI walk and the game was tied at six.  Cabrera hit a two-run single giving the Mets a 8-6 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth McMahon hit a three-run homerun to give the Rockies back the lead at 9-8.  Blackmon hit a solo homerun in the sixth to push the lead to 10-8 and that would be the final score.

New York Mets avoid the sweep with a shutout victory over the New York Yankees


The New York Mets defeated the New York Yankees on Sunday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 2-0.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and pitched well but not for long as he had a rough first inning.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and pitched great, the bullpen on both sides pitched well.  Todd Frazier was the offensive star for the Mets with a couple of hits including a two-run homerun. 

Severino pitched five innings giving up five hits and two runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Severino lost his second game of the season.  Chasen Shreve pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts, Adam Warren pitched a perfect inning and Jonathan Holder pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Lugo won his second game of the season pitching six innings and giving up two hits and no runs with no walks and eight strikeouts.  Robert Gsellman pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Anthony Swarzak pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and earned his first save of the season. 

Greg Bird had a hit and drew a walk, Miguel Andujar had two hits and the Yankees were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Jose Reyes had a hit, Frazier had two hits and two RBI and Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew a walk.  Jay Bruce drew a walk, Devin Mesoraco had a hit and drew a walk and Frazier hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Frazier had a stolen base, Reyes committed two errors. 

In the fifth inning Frazier hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead and that was all the scoring in the game.  The Yankees won two out of three in the series and will head home to face the Washington Nationals for two games beginning on Tuesday night.  The Mets will head to Atlanta to face the Braves beginning also on Tuesday night.

The New York Mets are defeated by the Chicago Cubs


The Chicago Cubs defeated the New York Mets on Thursday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-1.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched well and the bullpen did not.  Brandon Nimmo had two hits to lead the offense which only had four hits. 

Lugo pitched four innings giving up three hits and no runs with no walks and three strikeouts.  Hansel Robles took his second loss of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout, Jerry Blevins pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Buddy Baumann pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with three walks and a strikeout.  Scott Copeland pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two and Gerson Bautista pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Jose Quintana won his sixth game of the season pitching six innings and giving up three hits and no runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Steve Cishek pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Brian Duensing pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run and Pedro Strop pitched an inning with two walks.  Brandon Morrow pitched to one batter and retired him.

Ben Zobrist had three hits and two RBI, Jason Heyward had two hits and an RBI and Kris Bryant had two hits and drew a walk.  Anthony Rizzo had a hit, Wilson Contreras had an RBI and drew a walk and Javier Baez had a hit and drew a walk.  Kyle Schwarber had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Tommy La Stella had a hit and Albert Almora Jr. drew a walk.  Bryant, Baez and Zobrist each hit a double and Zobrist hit a homerun.  The Cubs were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Schwarber had an outfield assist. 

In the fifth Zobrist hit a two-run homerun to give the Cubs a 2-0 lead.  Schwarber hit an RBI single in the sixth to extend the lead to 3-0.  In the seventh Heyward hit an RBI ground out to push the lead to 4-0.  In the eighth Nimmo hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-1 and in the ninth Contreras hit a sac fly to make it a 5-1 game which was the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of their series on Friday night.

New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in extra innings


The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday.  The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 7-4 in 11 innings.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Asdrubal Cabrera led the offense with four hits and four RBI. 

Lugo pitched four innings giving up six hits and two runs.  He walked none and struck out four.  Chasen Bradford pitched a perfect inning, Josh Smoker pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout and Paul Sewald pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Jamie Callahan pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Jerry Blevins pitched to one batter and retired him and AJ Ramos pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Jacob Rhame pitched two perfect innings with two strikeouts and won his first game of the season and Jeurys Familia earned his sixth save pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Henderson Alvarez pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with six walks.  Zac Curtis pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout, Hoby Milner pitched 2/3 of an inning with a walk and Victor Arano pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Hector Neris pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Edubray Ramos pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Adam Morgan pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout and he lost his third game of the season.  Yacksel Rios pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he walked one and struck out one. 

Nori Aoki drew three walks, Jose Reyes had a hit and drew a walk and Cabrera had four hits and four RBI.  Brandon Nimmo had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Kevin Plawecki had two hits and drew three walks and Dominic Smith drew two walks.  Amed Rosario had a hit and an RBI, Juan Lagares had a hit and Phillip Evans had a hit.  Rosario, Lagares and Cabrera each hit a double.  Nimmo hit a triple and Cabrera hit a homerun.  The Mets were 4-16 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. 

Cesar Hernandez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, J.P. Crawford had a hit and drew a walk and Aaron Altherr had a hit and an RBI.  Rhys Hoskins had a hit and an RBI, Nick Williams had a hit and Maikel Franco had a hit and an RBI.  Jorge Alfaro had a hit, Freddy Galvis drew a walk and Alfaro hit a double and Franco hit a homerun.  The Phillies were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Alfaro had a passed ball and Williams had an outfield assist. 

In the second Franc hit a solo homerun to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead.  Hernandez hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the fourth Rosario hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth Nimmo hit a two-run triple to give the Mets a 3-2 lead.  In the seventh Cabrera hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 4-2.  In the bottom of the seventh Altherr hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 4-3.  Hoskins hit an RBI single to tie the game at four.  In the 11th Cabrera hit a three-run homerun to give the Mets a 7-4 lead and that would be the final score.

New York Mets defeat the Cincinnati Reds


The New York Mets defeated the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-1.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched well and the bullpen pitched well.  Jose Reyes and Travis Taijeron each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lugo pitched six innings giving up four hits and no runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Lugo won his sixth game of the season.  Tommy Milone pitched a perfect inning, Paul Sewald pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Jerry Blevins pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and a run with two strikeouts and AJ Ramos pitched to two batters and retired them both and earned his 27th save of the season. 

Amir Garrett pitched five innings giving up five hits and four runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Garrett lost his seventh game of the season.  Cody Reed pitched an inning giving up two hits and an unearned run with a walk and a strikeout, Ariel Hernandez pitched an inning with a strikeout and Luke Farrell pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Reyes had two hits and three RBI, Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew a walk and Travis d’Arnaud had a hit.  Taijeron had two hits and an RBI, Dominic Smith had a hit and drew a walk and Gavin Cecchini drew a walk.  Lugo had a hit, d’Arnaud and Taijeron each hit a double and Taijeron hit a homerun.  Reyes hit two homeruns and the Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Cecchini was caught stealing. 

Phillip Ervin had a hit, Jose Peraza had a hit and Joey Votto had two hits and drew a walk.  Scooter Gennett had two hits, Eugenio Suarez had a hit and Tucker Barnhart had two hits.  Zack Cozart had an RBI and the Reds were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Gennett committed an error. 

In the second Taijeron hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Reyes hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  In the fifth Reyes hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 4-0.  In the sixth Reynolds reached on a force attempt error and the score was 5-0 Mets.  In the ninth Cozart hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 5-1 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday.

New York Mets split a double header with the Washington Nationals


The New York Mets played a double header on Sunday and split it.  They lost the first game and won the second game.  The games were played at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final scores were 5-4 and 6-5.  In the first game Seth Lugo started and pitched ok, he just didn’t last very long.  Jose Reyes had three hits and Juan Lagares and Brandon Nimmo each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lugo pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs.  He walked none and struck out five.  Josh Smoker pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings, Hansel Robles pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with three walks and he took his fifth loss of the season and Chasen Bradford pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out one.  Erik Goeddel pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Tanner Roark started for the Nationals and he pitched six innings giving up five hits and three runs with nine strikeouts and picked up his 11th win.  Matt Albers pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one, Shawn Kelley pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Joe Blanton pitched to one batter and retired him.  Sean Doolittle saved his 16th game of the season and pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run. 

Reyes had three hits and an RBI, Lagares had two hits and an RBI and Nimmo had two hits and two RBI.  Travis d’Arnaud had a hit, Kevin Plawecki had a hit and Gavin Cecchini had a hit.  Matt Reynolds had a hit, Lagares hit a double and Niimmo hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Reyes had a stolen base. 

Wilmer Difo had two hits, Daniel Murphy had a hit and Anthony Rendon had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Adam Lind had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Michael Taylor had an RBI and drew a walk and Andrew Stevenson had an RBI and drew a walk.  Lind hit a homerun and the Nationals were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Rendon had a stolen base. 

In the fourth Rendon hit an RBI single and Lind hit a sac fly to make it 2-0.  In the sixth Lagares hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 2-1.  Nimmo hit a two-run homerun and the Mets took a 3-2 lead.  In the bottom of the sixth Taylor had an RBI walk, Stevenson had an RBI walk and the Nationals took a 4-3 lead.  In the eighth Lind hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 5-3.  In the ninth Reyes hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-4 and that would be the final score. 

Tommy Milone started the second game and pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up six hits and a run walkine one and striking out five.  Hansel Robles pitched to two guys and struck them both out, Rafael Montero pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a walk, Josh Smoker pitched to one guy and walked him and Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs.  Jerry Blevins pitched to two guys and retired them both winning his sixth game of the season and AJ Ramos pitched two innings giving up three hits and a walk with two strikeouts and earning his 25th save of the season. 

Erick Fedde pitched six innings giving up seven hits and five runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Kelley pitched a perfect inning, Blanton lost his third game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Sammy Solis pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk.  Albers pitched to one guy and retired him.

Howie Kendrick had three hits and an RBI, Difo had a hit and an RBI and Ryan Zimmerman had a hit and drew a walk.  Matt Wieters had two hits, Taylor had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Alejandro De Aza had two hits and two RBI.  Rafael Bautista had two hits, Lind had a hit and Stevenson drew a walk.  Murphy had a hit, De Aza, Taylor and Murphy each hit a double.  De Aza hit a triple and the Nationals were 5-16 with runners in scoring position and they left 13 men on base.  Taylor had a stolen base. 

In the first Cabrera hit a three-run homerun to give them the lead.  In the third Flores hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 5-0.  In the bottom of the fifth Difo hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-1.  In the sixth De Aza hit an RBI double, Kendrick hit a sac fly and it was 5-3.  In the seventh Taylor hit an RBI double and De Aza a sac fly to tie the game at five.  In the eighth Rosario hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 6-5 lead and that would be the final score.

New York Mets blow lead and lose to the Los Angeles Dodgers


The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 7-4.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched ok, the bullpen wasn’t very good.  Rene Rivera had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lugo pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Paul Sewald lost his fourth game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout, Jerry Blevins pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two and Fernando Salas pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs. 

Rich Hill pitched five innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Brandon Morrow pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and he won his fourth game of the season, Pedro Baez pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Tony Watson pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Ross Stripling pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Michael Conforto had a hit and an RBI, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and drew a walk and Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI.  Curtis Granderson had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Neil Walker had a hit and R. Rivera had two hits and an RBI.  Conforto, Flores, Granderson and R. Rivera each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Granderson had a stolen base and was caught stealing.  R. Rivera had a passed ball and Granderson had an outfield assist. 

Chris Taylor had a hit and an RBI, Corey Seager had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Justin Turner had two hits and an RBI.  Cody Bellinger had a hit and two RBI, Logan Forsythe drew two walks and Yasmani Grandal had a hit.  Yasiel Puig had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Kyle Farmer had a hit and Grandal hit a double and Taylor, Bellinger, Puig, Turner and Seager each hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Seager committed an error and Hill had a pickoff. 

In the first Conforto hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Flores hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 2-0.  Granderson hit a solo homerun and the lead was extended to 3-0.  In the sixth Taylor hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  Bellinger hit a two-run homerun and the game was tied at three.  In the seventh Puig hit a solo homerun to give the Dodgers a 4-3 lead.  In the eighth Turner hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 5-3.  In the ninth Seager hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 7-3.  In the bottom of the ninth R. Rivera hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 7-4 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.

New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals


The New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and pitched well.  Michael Conforto had two hits and drew two walks. 

Lugo pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Erik Goeddel pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run and Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning and won his first game of the season. 

Lance Lynn pitched six innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Matt Bowman pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Brett Cecil pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run and Trevor Rosenthal pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and lost his fourth game of the season. 

Conforto had two hits and drew two walks, Lucas Duda had a hit and an RBI and T.J. Rivera had a hit.  Jose Reyes had a hit and an RBI and Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI.  Conforto hit a double, Duda and Flores each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Matt Carpenter drew a walk, Tommy Pham had two hits and two RBI and Dexter Fowler had a hit.  Greg Garcia had two hits, Eric Fryer had a hit and Garcia and Pham each hit a double.  Pham hit a homerun and the Cardinals were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Fowler was caught stealing. 

In the second Duda hit a solo homerun giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Pham hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  In the eighth Pham hit a solo homerun to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the eighth Flores hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the ninth Reyes hit an RBI single to give the Mets a Pham hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  In the eighth Pham hit a solo homerun to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the eighth Flores hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the ninth Reyes hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 3-2 walk-off win.

The New York Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies on Saturday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 9-3.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched well, the Mets bullpen was very good.  Jose Reyes had two hits and Jay Bruce had three RBI to lead the offense. 

Lugo won his fourth game of the season pitching 6 2/3 innings and giving up seven hits and three runs.  He walked two and struck out five.  Paul Sewald pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out both batters, Jerry Blevins pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out both batters and Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Tyler Chatwood pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and four runs with three walks and he lost his 11th game of the season.  Chris Rusin pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up six hits and four runs with one of them being earned.  He struck out three, Kyle Freeland pitched three innings with a walk and four strikeouts and Jake McGee pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Michael Conforto drew a walk, Asdrubal Cabrera drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit.  Bruce had a hit and three RBI, T.J. Rivera had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Lucas Duda had a hit and two RBI.  Reyes had two hits and an RBI, Travis d’Arnaud had a hit and an RBI and Lugo had a hit and an RBI.  Duda hit a double and Bruce, Lugo and Reyes each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 4-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Reyes had a stolen base. 

Charlie Blackmon had a hit and an RBI, D.J. LeMahieu had two hits and Nolan Arenado had two hits.  Gerardo Parra had an RBI, Raimel Tapia had a hit and an RBI and Trevor Story had a hit.  Tony Wolters drew two walks, Story, Arenado and Tapia each hit a double and Blackmon hit a triple.  The Rockies were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  LeMahieu committed an error. 

In the first Bruce hit a three-run homerun to give the Mets the lead.  d’Arnaud hit an RBI single to extend it to 4-0.  In the second T. Rivera hit an RBI single, Duda hit a two-run double and the lead was pushed to 7-0 in the second inning.  In the third Lugo hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 8-0.  In the sixth Parra hit a sac fly and Tapia hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 8-2.  In the seventh Blackmon hit an RBI triple and the lead was cut to 8-3.  In the eighth Reyes hit a solo homerun to make it a 9-3 game and that was the final score. 

The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Sunday afternoon.  The Mets will be looking for the three game sweep.

New York Mets get blown out by the Washington Nationals


The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Tuesday.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 11-4.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  Brandon Nimmo had three hits and T.J. Rivera had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lugo lost his second game of the season pitching five innings and giving up ten hits and six runs.  He walked two and struck out three.  Erik Goeddel pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two runs and two walks with a strikeout, Josh Edgin pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Neil Ramirez pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with two strikeouts.  Chasen Bradford pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit. 

Joe Ross pitched seven innings giving up eight hits and two runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  Ross won his fifth game of the season.  Blake Treinen pitched an inning giving up a hit and a strikeout and Oliver Perez pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout. 

Reyes had a hit and an RBI, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and drew a walk and Jay Bruce had a hit and two RBI.  T. In the first Reyes hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Harper hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  Murphy hit an RBI single to give the Nats a 2-1 lead.  In the fourth R. Rivera hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the fifth Harper hit an RBI single to give the Nationals a 3-2 lead, Murphy hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-2, Raburn hit a two-run double to push the lead to 6-2.  In the sixth Murphy hit a two-run single and Lind hit an RBI ground out to make it a 9-2 game.  In the eighth Harper hit an RBI single and Murphy an RBI double to make it 11-2.  Bruce hit a two-run homerun in the ninth to cut the lead to 11-4 which would be the final score.

New York Mets complete the sweep of the Atlanta Braves


The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at SunTrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 2-1.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched well and the bullpen did their job.  Michael Conforto had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lugo pitched seven innings giving up six hits and a run.  He walked two and struck out six and won his first game of the season.  Jerry Blevins pitched an inning with a strikeout and Addison Reed pitched an inning with two strikeouts and saved his 11th game of the season. 

Jaime Garcia started for the Braves and pitched seven innings giving up seven hits and two runs with two walks and nine strikeouts and lost his fifth game of the season.  Arodys Vizcaino pitched a perfect inning, Jose Ramirez pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Ian Krol pitched to one batter and retired him. 

Conforto had two hits, Juan Lagares had a hit and an RBI and Wilmer Flores had an RBI.  Jay Bruce had a hit, Neil Walker had a hit and drew a walk and Asdrubal Cabrera drew a walk.  Jose Reyes had a hit and drew a walk, Lugo had a hit and Curtis Granderson had a hit.  Conforto, Lugo and Bruce each hit a double.  The Mets were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Reyes had a stolen base and was caught stealing. 

Ender Inciarte had a hit and drew a walk, Nick Markakis had two hits and Matt Kemp had a hit and drew a walk.  Tyler Flowers had a hit, Dansby Swanson had an RBI and Garcia had a hit.  Flowers hit a double and the Braves were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the first Flores hit a sac fly giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Swanson hit a sac fly to tie the game at one and in the third Lagares hit an RBI single giving the Mets a 2-1 lead which would hold up as that would be the final score. 
The Mets will begin a series with the Chicago Cubs on Monday night at Citi Field

The New York Mets lost to the Washington Nationals on Monday afternoon in a split squad game.  The game took place at First Data Field in Port St. Lucie, Florida and the final score was 6-0.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch very well.  The Mets offense only managed three hits. 

Lugo lost his first game of the spring pitching 4 1/3 innings and giving up eight hits and four runs with no walks and three strikeouts.  Josh Edgin pitched to two batters and struck one out, Fernando Salas pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Paul Sewald pitched two innings giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  David Roseboom pitched a perfect inning striking out the side. 

Jose Reyes had a hit, Neil Walker drew a walk and Lucas Duda drew a walk.  Travis d’Arnaud had a hit, Travis Taijeron had a hit and drew two walks and the Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the third Trea Turner hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Bryce Harper hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 2-0.  IN the fourth Ryan Zimmerman hit an RBI double to push the lead to 3-0.  Turner hit his second homerun of the game in the fifth to make it a 4-0 game and in the eighth Harper hit his second homer of the game a two-run shot to make it a 6-0 game.  6-0 would be the final score.

New York Mets defeat the Miami Marlins in rubber game



The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Marlins Park in Miami, Florida and the final score was 5-2.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched well and the bullpen did a good job.  Curtis Granderson led the Mets offense with four hits. 

Lugo pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  He won his fifth game of the season.  Hansel Robles pitched to two batters and retired them both and Fernando Salas pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one and Jeurys Familia earned his 50th save of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Jose Urena lost his ninth game of the season pitching five innings and giving up eight hits and five runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Nefi Ogando pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one, Hunter Cervenka pitched 1/3 of an inning and walked one and Brian Ellington pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout.  Dustin McGowan pitched an inning giving up a hit and he walked one. 

Jose Reyes had a hit and an RBI, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and drew a walk and Granderson had four hits and drew a walk.  Jay Bruce had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks, TJ Rivera had a hit and James Loney had a hit and two RBI.  Lugo had a hit, Kelly Johnson drew a walk and TJ Rivera, Lugo and Reyes each hit a double.  Loney and Bruce each hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  R. Rivera committed an error. 

Dee Gordon had a hit, Marcella Ozuna drew a walk and Martin Prado had two hits and two RBI.  Christian Yelich had a hit and drew a walk, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and Justin Bour had a hit and drew a walk.  Jeff Mathis had a hit, Stanton hit a double and Prado hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Gordon had a stolen base. 

In the first Prado hit a two run homerun to give the Marlins a 2-0 lead.  In the second Loney hit a two run homerun to tie the game at two.  In the fourth Reyes hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 3-2 lead.  In the fifth Bruce hit a two run homerun to increase the Mets lead to 5-2 and that would be the final score. 

The Mets won two out of three in the series and will have off on Thursday before finishing the regular season in Philadelphia with three.  They currently hold the first wild card and are a game up pending outcomes of games on the Giants and a 1 1/2 on the Cardinals.

The New York Mets win a wild one against the Philadelphia Phillies



The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 9-8 in 11 innings.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched ok, the bullpen had some good and some bad.  Asdrubal Cabrera and Yoenis Cespedes each had three hits. 

Lugo pitched five innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Sean Gilmartin pitched to two batters and retired them both, Erik Goeddel pitched to one batter and retired him and Fernando Salas pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Addison Reed pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs with a walk, Hansel Robles pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two walks and he struck out two, Josh Edgin pitched 1/3 of an inning with a strikeout and Jeurys Familia pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Jim Henderson won his second game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning and he had a walk. 

Adam Morgan pitched five innings giving up five hits and three runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  Luis Garcia pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Michael Mariot pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Frank Hermann pitched to one batter and retired him.  Joely Rodriguez pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Jeanmar Gomez pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout and Hector Neris pitched 2/3 of an inning walking one and struck out two.  Severino Gonzalez pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Edubray Ramos pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and he lost his third game of the season and blew his second save of the season. 

Jose Reyes had two hits and two RBI with a walk, Cabrera had three hits and three RBI and Cespedes had three hits and two RBI.  TJ Rivera had a hit, Curtis Granderson had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Brandon Nimmo had a hit.  Ty Kelly drew a walk, Michael Conforto drew a walk and Cespedes hit a double.  Granderson, Reyes and Cabrera each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Cesar Hernandez had two hits and drew three walks, Roman Quinn had an RBI and A.J. Ellis had a hit and an RBI.  Odubel Herrera had a hit, Maikel Franco had two hits, four RBI and drew a walk and Ryan Howard had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Cameron Rupp had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Freddy Galvis had a hit and Aaron Altherr drew a walk.  Galvis hit a double, Hernandez hit a triple and Howard, Rupp and Franco each hit a homerun.  The Phillies were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Hernandez committed an error. 

In the second Granderson hit a two run homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Quinn hit an RBI groundout to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth Howard hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the fifth Rupp hit a solo homerun giving the Phillies a 3-2 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth the Mets tied it on a Cespedes RBI single.  Cespedes hit an RBI double in the seventh to give the Mets a 4-3 lead.  In the eighth Franco hit a three run homerun giving the Phillies back the lead at 6-4.  Reyes hit a two run homerun in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game at six.  In the 11th Ellis hit an RBI single giving the Phillies a 7-6 lead.  Franco drew an RBI walk to make it 8-6.  In the bottom of the 11th Cabrera hit a walk-off three run homerun to give the Mets a 9-8 win. 

The Mets and Phillies will play game two on Friday night.

The New York Mets win second straight over the Minnesota Twins



The New York Mets defeated the Minnesota Twins on Saturday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched pretty well, the bullpen was good.  TJ Rivera had three hits and Yoenis Cespedes and Curtis Granderson each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lugo pitched five innings giving up four hits and a run with four walks and two strikeouts.  Josh Smoker pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out three, Fernando Salas pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Jerry Blevins pitched to one batter and struck him out.  Addison Reed pitched an inning with a strikeout, Jeurys Familia pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Hansel Robles pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts.   Josh Edgin won his first game of the season pitching an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Ervin Santana pitched seven innings giving up four hits and no runs with two walks and nine strikeouts.  Ryan Pressly pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run, Taylor Rogers pitched to two batters and struck out two and J.T. Chargois pitched an inning with a strikeout.  Alex Wimmers pitched an inning walking one and striking out three, Brandon Kintzler blew his third save of the season pitching an inning and giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout and Michael Tonkin pitched to two batters and retired them both.  Ryan O'Rourke lost his first game of the season giving up a hit and a run. 

Jose Reyes had a hit, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and drew a walk and Cespedes had two hits and an RBI.  Granderson had two hits and two RBI, Rivera had three hits and James Loney drew a walk.  Brandon Nimmo had a hit, Alejandro De Aza drew a walk and Rivera hit a double.  Granderson hit two homeruns and the Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. 

Brian Dozier had a hit and drew a walk, Jorge Polanco had two hits and drew two walks and Max Kepler had a hit.  Eddie Rosario had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Byron Buxton had two hits and an RBI and Juan Centeno had a hit and drew two walks.  Polanco hit a double and Rosario and Buxton each hit a homerun.  The Twins were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Polanco had a stolen base. 

In the fourth Rosario hit a solo homerun to give the Twins a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Cespedes hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the 11th Buxton hit a solo homerun to give the Twins a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the 11th Granderson hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the 12th Granderson hit a walk-off homerun to give the Mets a 3-2 win. 

The Mets and Twins will play their third and final game on Sunday afternoon.  The Mets will be looking for the three game sweep.

New York Mets rout the Atlanta Braves



The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Turner Field in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 10-3.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and he pitched well.  The Mets bullpen was pretty good and Jose Reyes had two hits and Asdrubal Cabrera had three hits. 

Lugo pitched seven innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Lugo won his fourth game of the season.  Sean Gilmartin pitched an inning giving up two hits, Logan Verrett pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and a run with a walk and Josh Edgin pitched 2/3 of an inning. 

Williams Perez pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up four hits and five runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Joel De La Cruz pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout, Jed Bradley pitched three innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Brandon Cunniff pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts. 

Reyes had two hits, Cabrera had three hits and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and five RBI with a walk.  Michael Conforto drew a walk, Kelly Johnson had a hit and an RBI and Alejandro De Aza had a hit and an RBI.  James Loney had two hits and two RBI, Rene Rivera had a hit and drew a walk and Lugo had an RBI an drew a walk.  Loney hit a double, Cabrera hit a triple and Cespedes and Loney each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 5-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Ender Inciarte had two hits, Adonis Garcia had a hit and Freddie Freeman had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Matt Kemp had two hits, Nick Markakis had a hit and an RBI and Anthony Recker drew a walk.  Brandon Snyder had a hit and an RBI, Daniel Castro had a hit and Gordon Beckham had a hit.  Jace Peterson had a hit, Garcia and Kemp each hit a double.  Snyder hit a homerun and the Braves were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Inciarte was caught stealing. 

In the first Cespedes hit an RBI ground out giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Cespedes hit a grand slam to extend their lead to 5-0.  In the fourth Loney hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 6-0.  Freeman hit an RBI single in the fourth to cut the lead to 6-1.  In the fifth Johnson hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 7-1 lead.  De Aza hit an RBI single and it was 8-1 Mets.  Loney hit an RBI double still in the fifth to push the lead to 9-1 and Lugo hit a sac fly to make it 10-1.  In the seventh Snyder hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 10-2 and in the ninth Markakis hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 10-3 which would be the final score. 

The Mets will head to Washington to take on the Nationals beginning on Monday night.

New York Mets take the series from the Washington Nationals



The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Sunday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-1.  Seth Lugo started for the Mets and pitched very well and the bullpen did their job.  Curtis Granderson had three RBI and Wilmer Flores and Jay Bruce each had two hits. 

Lugo won his third game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up six hits and a run.  He walked none and struck out four.  Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Reynaldo Lopez pitched four innings giving up six hits and three runs.  He walked one and struck out three and lost his third game of the season.  Mat Latos pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with two strikeouts, Trevor Gott pitched a perfect inning and Matt Grace pitched to one batter and retired him.  Rafael Martin pitched to one batter and retired him and Sean Burnett also pitched to one batter and retired him. 

Jose Reyes drew a walk, Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit.  Granderson had a hit and three RBI, Flores had two hits and Bruce had two hits and two RBI.  James Loney had a hit, Lugo had a hit and Flores hit a double.  Granderson and Bruce each hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Trea Turner had a hit, Jayson Werth had two hits and Daniel Murphy had a hit.  Anthony Rendon had a hit, Ryan Zimmerman had a hit and Daniel Espinosa had a hit and an RBI.  Lopez had a hit, Brian Goodwin had a hit and it was a double.  Espinosa hit a homerun and the Nationals were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Turner had an outfield assist. 

In the first Granderson hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Espinosa hit a solo homerun in the second to tie the game at one.  In the third Granderson hit a two run homerun to give the Mets a 3-1 lead.  In the sixth Bruce hit a two run homerun and it was 5-1 Mets which would be the final score. 

The Mets took two out of three in this series and will head to Cincinnati to face the Reds.
