New York Mets defeat the Philadelphia Phillies


The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 4-3.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Jay Bruce led the offense with two hits and three RBI. 

deGrom pitched six innings giving up six hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Josh Smoker pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk, Jerry Blevins pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and he won his first game of the season.  Hansel Robles pitched to two batters retiring them both and Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and he saved his second game of the season. 

Jerad Eickhoff started for the Phillies and he pitched seven innings giving up three hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked four and struck out seven.  Edubray Ramos pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a run and a walk and he struck out one.  Ramos took his first loss of the season and Joely Rodriguez pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run. 

Asdrubal Cabrera had a hit and drew a walk, Bruce had two hits and three RBI with a walk and Curtis Granderson had a hit.  Neil Walker had an RBI and drew a walk, Lucas Duda drew two walks and Cabrera hit a double.  Bruce hit two homeruns and the Mets were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Cesar Hernandez had a hit and drew a walk, Howie Kendrick had a hit and drew a walk and Odubel Herrera had a hit.  Maikel Franco had two hits and drew a walk, Michael Saunders had two hits and an RBI and Cameron Rupp had an RBI and drew a walk.  Brock Stassi had a hit and an RBI, Freddy Galvis had a hit and Daniel Nava had a hit.  Stassi hit a homerun and the Phillies were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Hernandez and Rupp each committed an error and Rupp had a passed ball. 

In the first Saunders hit an RBI single and Rupp drew an RBI walk to make it 2-0 Phillies.  In the fourth Bruce hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the seventh Walker hit a sac fly to tie the game at two.  In the eighth Bruce hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 4-2 lead.  In the ninth Stassi hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-3 but that would be the final score.
