New York Yankee are shutout in Game 7 and fail to reach World Series

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Houston Astros on Saturday night.  The game took place at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas and the final score was 4-0.  CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and he pitched ok.  The Yankees offense didn’t do much at all.

Sabathia pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up five hits and a run with three walks.  Sabathia took the loss, Tommy Khanle pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up four hits and three-run with a strikeout, Adam Warren pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings and David Robertson pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out three.

Charlie Morton picked up the win pitching five innings and giving up two hits and a walk with five strikeouts.  Lance McCullers Jr. earned the save pitching four innings and giving up a hit and a walk with six strikeouts.

Brett Gardner had a hit, Gary Sanchez had a hit and Greg Bird had a hit.  Aaron Hicks drew a walk, Todd Frazier drew a walk and Bird hit a double.  The Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.

George Springer had a hit, Alex Bregman had a hit and Jose Altuve had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Carlos Correa had two hits, Yuri Gurriel had a hit and Evan Gattis had a hit and an RBI.  Brian McCann had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks.  Marwin Gonzalez had a hit, Josh Reddick had a hit and McCann hit a double, Gattis and Altuve each hit a homerun.  The Astros were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.

In the fourth Gattis hit a solo homerun giving the Astros a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Altuve hit a solo homerun and the lead was extended to 2-0.  McCann hit a two-run double and the lead was pushed to 4-0 and that would be the final score.

The Yankees were not able to win a game in Houston and lost the series in seven games.  They had a remarkable run and came up just short of reaching the World Series.  The Houston Astros for the second time in their history will play in the World Series and take on the Los Angeles Dodgers who haven’t made it there since 1988.
