New York Yankees win third straight over Astros to take series lead


The New York Yankees defeated the Houston Astros on Wednesday evening.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-0.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he was brilliant and Tommy Khanle closed it with two innings.  Gary Sanchez and Didi Gregorius each had two hits and Chase Headley had three hits. 

Tanaka pitched seven innings giving up no runs on three hits.  He walked one and struck out eight and picked up the win.  Khanle pitched two scoreless innings giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Dallas Keuchel lost the game pitching 4 2/3 innings and giving up seven hits and four runs with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Will Harris pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Brad {eacock pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts and Francisco Liriano pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one. 

Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Sanchez had two hits and two RBI and Gregorius had two hits and an RBI.  Starlin Castro had a hit, Greg Bird had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Headley had three hits.  Castro, Judge, Headley and Gregorius each hit a double.  Sanchez hit a homerun and the Yankees were 3-13 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  T. Frazier committed an error. 

George Springer had a hit, Carlos Correa had a hit and Yuri Gurriel had a hit.  Marwin Gonzalez had a hit, Brian McCann drew a walk and Gurriel and Correa each hit a double.  The Astros were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Bregman committed an error. 

In the second Bird hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Judge hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 2-0.  In the fifth Sanchez hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0, Gregorius hit an RBI single making it 4-0 and in the seventh Sanchez hit a solo homerun to finish it off at 5-0. 

The Yankees now own a 3-2 lead in the series and game six is in Houston on Friday night.
