New York Yankees defeat the San Francisco Giants


The New York Yankees defeated the San Francisco Giants on Friday night.  The game took place at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California and the final score was 7-3.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The Yankees bullpen pitched very well and Luke Voit had three hits and three RBI to lead the offense. 

Paxton pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  Paxton won his third game of the season.  Tommy Khanle pitched to one batter and struck him out, Zack Britton pitched 2/3 of an inning with three walks and a strikeout and Adam Ottavino pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out two.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Madison Bumgarner pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up 11 hits and five runs with five strikeouts and he took his fourth loss of the season.  Nick Vincent pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Sam Dyson pitched an inning with a strikeout and Mark Melancon pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs. 

DJ LeMahieu had three hits, Voit had three hits and three RBI and drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had two hits and an RBI.  Gio Urshela had two hits and an RBI, Cameron Maybin had a hit and an RBI and Mike Ford had a hit.  Austin Romine had a hit, Mike Tauchman had a hit and Thairo Estrada had a hit and an RBI.  LeMahieu hit two doubles and Torres and Voit each hit a double and Voit hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 6-15 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Kevin Pillar drew a walk, Tyler Austin had a hit and drew two walks and Brandon Belt had a hit and drew a walk.  Buster Posey had a hit and two RBI, Evan Longoria drew a walk and Yangervis Solarte had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Brandon Crawford had a hit, Steven Duggar drew a walk and Posey and Belt each hit a double.  The Giants were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Crawford had a stolen base and Belt and Longoria each committed an error.  Duggar had an outfield assist. 

In the first Torres hit an RBI double, Maybin hit an RBI single and the Yankees had a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Posey hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the third Urshela hit an RBI single to push the Yankees lead to 3-1.  In the fifth Voit hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 4-1.  In the sixth Estrada hit an RBI single and it was 5-1.  In the bottom of the sixth Posey hit an RBI double and Solarte hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-3.  In the ninth Voit hit a two-run homerun and the Yankees had a 7-3 lead.  7-3 would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.
