New York Yankees bats remain silent in loss to the Braves

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-1.  Corey Kluber started for the Yankees and he pitched ok, the bullpen was good and the offense only managed five hits. 

Kluber pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with four walks and two strikeouts.  Kluber took his second loss of the season.  Nick Nelson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and striking out three, Luis Cessa pitched two innings giving up a hit and an unearned run with a walk and a strikeout and Brooks Kriske pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks and a strikeout. 

Ian Anderson started for the Braves and won his first game of the season.  He pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up four hits and no runs with four walks and four strikeouts.  A.J. Minter pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and a strikeout and Will Smith pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Aaron Judge had a hit and drew two walks, Gio Urshela had a hit and Gleyber Torres had a hit.  Mike Ford had a hit, Aaron Hicks drew two walks and Gary Sanchez drew a walk.  Clint Frazier had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  The Yankees were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  LeMahieu committed an error. 

Ehire Adrianza had an RBI and drew a walk, Freddie Freeman drew two walks and Marcell Ozuna had two RBI and drew a walk.  Ozzie Albies had a hit, Pablo Sandoval had a hit and Austin Riley had two hits, an RBI and drew two walks.  Guillermo Heredia drew two walks, Riley hit a homerun and the Braves were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the fifth Adrianza hti a sac fly to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.  Ozuna drew an RBI walk and it was 2-0.  In the seventh Ozuna hit into a force out an a run scored to push the Braves lead to 3-0.  In the ninth Riley hit a solo homerun making it 4-0.  In the bottom of the ninth Frazier hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-1 and that was the final score.  The two teams split the two-game series.  The Yankees will head to Cleveland to begin a four-game series on Thursday night.
