New York Yankees lose in Pittsburgh

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night.  The game took place 

At PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the final score was 5-2.  Jameson Taillon started for the 

Yankees and he didn’t pitch very well.  The bullpen did pitch well and the offense was led by Isiah Kiner-

Falefa who had three hits.  Gleyber Torres and Matt Carpenter each had two hits.  

Jameson Taillon pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs with no walks and five strikeouts.  

Taillon lost just his second game of the season, Lucas Luetge pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits

And he struck out one and Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect inning.  


Jose Quintana started for the Pirates and won his second game of the season.  He pitched five innings

Giving up six hits and a run with seven strikeouts.  Wil Crowe pitched two innings giving up two hits

And he walked one and Duane Underwood Jr. pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk

And a strikeout.  David Bednar pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and saved his 

13th game of the season.  


DJ LeMahieu had a hit and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI and Torres had two hits and 

Drew a walk.  Carpenter had two hits and drew a walk, Aaron Hicks had a hit and Kiner-Falefa had three

Hits.  Hicks, Torres and Kiner-Falefa each hit a double and the Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring

Position and left nine men on base.  Stanton committed an error.  


Bryan Reynolds had two hits, Jack Suwinski had two hits and two RBI and Daniel Vogelbach had a hit

And an RBI.  Yoshi Tsutsugo had two hits, Oneil Cruz had an RBI and Ben Gamel had two hits and 

An RBI.  Reynolds and Gamel each hit a double and Vogelbach and Suwinski each hit a homerun.  

The Pirates were 2-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  


In the second Vogelbach hit a solo homerun giving the Pirates a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Suwinski hit a 

Two-run homerun pushing the lead to 3-0.  Gamel hit an RBI double extending the lead to 4-0.  In the 

Fifth Judge hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 4-1 and in the bottom of the sixth Cruz hit a sac fly

Pushing the lead to 5-1.  In the top of the eighth Carpenter hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 5-2 and

That would be the final score of the game.  


The two teams will play the second and final game of the series on Wednesday night.
