New York Yankees pummel the Pittsburgh Pirates

 The New York Yankees defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday night.  The game took place at 

PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the final score was 16-0.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees

And he pitched great and the bullpen was good.  Isiah Kiner-Falefa led the offense with four hits and 

DJ LeMahieu and Aaron Judge each had three hits.  


Severino pitched six innings giving up four hits and no runs with three strikeouts.  Severino won his fifth 

Game of the season.  Wandy Peralta pitched an inning and he struck out one, Aroldis Chapman pitched

An inning with a strikeout and Albert Abreu pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two.  


Mitch Keller started for the Pirates and he pitched six innings giving up ten hits and four runs with a walk

And seven strikeouts.  Keller lost his sixth game of the season.  Tyler Beede pitched an inning giving up 

A hit and a run with two walks and two strikeouts, Manny Banuelos pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up 

Three hits and five runs with two walks and a strikeout and Chris Stratton pitched 2/3 of an inning with

Two walks.  Josh VanMeter pitched an inning giving up eight hits and six runs with a walk, he is a 

Position player.  


LeMahieu had three hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Judge had three hits, four RBI and drew a walk and 

Marwin Gonzalez had a hit.  Matt Carpenter had a hit, Aaron Hicks had two hits and four RBI and

Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Gleyber Torres had two hits and drew two walks,

Josh Donaldson had two hits and two RBI and Joey Gallo had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks.  

Kiner-Falefa had four hits and Kyle Higashioka had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Carpenter, 

Torres, Judge and Hicks each hit a double and Donaldson, Gallo, Higashioka, Judge, Hicks and Stanton

Each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 7-18 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  

Kiner-Falefa, LeMahieu and Judge each had a stolen base.  


Ke’Bryan Hayes had a hit, Bryan Reynolds had two hits and Bligh Madrid drew a walk.  

Oneil Cruz had a hit, Reynolds hit a double and the Pirates were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and

Left five men on base.  Tsutsugo committed an error and Gamel had an outfield assist.  


In the fifth LeMahieu hit a two-run single to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth Donaldson hit a solo

Homerun pushing the lead to 3-0 and Gallo hit a solo homerun making it 4-0.  In the seventh Higashioka

Hit a solo homerun extending the lead to 5-0.  In the eighth Judge hit a grand-slam pushing the lead to 

9-0 and a Donaldson sac fly made it 10-0.  In the ninth Hicks hit a grand-slam making it 14-0 and Stanton

Hit a solo homerun and Higashioka had an RBI single to finish the scoring at 16-0.  

The two teams split the brief two game series and the Yankees will head to Boston to begin a four-game

Series with the Red Sox on Thursday night.
