New York Mets sweep doubleheader from the Atlanta Braves

 

The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves in game two of a doubleheader on Tuesday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-0.  Carlos Carrasco started for the Mets and he pitched very well.  Jeff McNeil, Pete Alonso and James McCann each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Carrasco won his second game of the season pitching eight innings and giving up six hits and no runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Seth Lugo picked up his second save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit. 

Kyle Wright started for the Braves and he pitched seven innings giving up nine hits and three runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Wright lost his first game of the season and Will Smith pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, McNeil had two hits and Alonso had two hits and an RBI.  Dom Smith had a hit and two RBI, Mark Canha had a hit and J.D. Davis drew a walk.  McCann had two hits, Smith hit a double and Alonso hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Ronald Acuna Jr. had a hit and drew a walk, Matt Olson had two hits and Ozzie Albies had two hits.  Adam Duvall had a hit, Travis Demeritte drew a walk and William Contreras had a hit.  Acuna Jr. hit a double and Olson hit two doubles.  The Braves were 0-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the bottom of the first Smith hit a two-run double to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the sixth Alonso hit a solo homerun extending the lead to 3-0 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Wednesday night.   

New York Mets win game one of a doubleheader over the Atlanta Braves

 

The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-4.  David Peterson started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch great, the bullpen pitched well.  Travis Jankowski and Pete Alonso each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Peterson pitched five innings giving up four hits and four runs with three being earned.  He walked three and struck out six and won his first game of the season.  Adam Ottavino pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Drew Smith pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out two and Edwin Diaz picked up his fifth save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Charlie Morton started for the Braves and he pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and five runs with four being earned.  He walked three and struck out three and took his third loss of the season.  Jesse Chavez pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Jankowski had two hits and drew a walk, Mark Canha had an RBI and Francisco Lindor had an RBI.  Alonso had two hits and two RBI, Eduardo Escobar had a hit and an RBI and Starling Marte had a hit.  Luis Guillorme drew two walks, Tomas Nido had a hit and the Mets were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Jankowski had a stolen base and Marte was caught stealing.  Peterson committed an error. 

Matt Olso had a hit, three RBI and drew two walks, Austin Riley had a hit an ddrew a walk and Adam Duvall drew a walk.  Dansby Swanson had a hit, Travis Demeritte had a hit and an RBI, Orlando Arcia had a hit and Swanson hit a double.  Olson hit a homerun and the Braves were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Morton and d’Arnaud committed an error. 

In the bottom of the first Alonso hit an RBI single, Escobar hit an RBI single and the Mets had a 2-0 lead.  In the second Demeritte hit a sac fly cutting the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the second Lindor hit into a force out and a run scored pushing the lead to 3-1.  Alonso hit an RBI single and it was 4-1 Mets.  In the bottom of the fourth Canha hti a sac fly making it a 5-1 game.  In the fifth Olson hit a three-run homerun cutting the lead to 5-4 and that would be the final score.

New York Mets fall to the San Francisco Giants

 

The New York Mets were defeated by the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-2.  Chris Bassitt started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well, the bullpen pitched well.  Pete Alonso led the offense with three hits and Brandon Nimmo and Eduardo Escobar each had two hits. 

Bassitt lost his first game of the season pitching six innings and giving up eight hits and five runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Chasen Shreve pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Sean Reid-Foley pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out three. 

Carlos Rodon started for the Giants and he pitched five innings giving up three hits and no runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  Rodon won his second game of the season.  John Brebbia pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts, Dominic Leone pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Tyler Rogers pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run.  Jake McGee pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and earned his second save of the season. 

Nimmo had two hits, Starling Marte had a hit and an RBI and Alonso had three hits.  Escobar had two hits and drew a walk, Mark Canha had a hit and an RBI and Luis Guillorme drew a walk.  James McCann drew a walk, Escobar hit a double and the Mets were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Marte was caught stealing and he had an outfield assist. 

Mike Yastrzemski had two hits and an RBI, Brandon Belt had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Darin Ruf drew a walk.  Joc Pederson had two hits and an RBI, Brandon Crawford had a hit and an RBI and Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI.  Thairo Estrada drew a walk, Steven Duggar had a hit and Pederson hit a double.  Belt hit a homerun and the Giants were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Estrada had a stolen base. 

In the first Pederson hit an RBI double, Crawford hit an RBI single and Flores hit an RBI single giving the Giants a 3-0 lead.  In the second Belt hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 4-0.  In the fourth Yastrzemski hit an RBI single extending the lead to 5-0.  In the bottom of the seventh Marte hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 5-1 and in the bottom of the eighth Canha hit an RBI single making it a 5-2 game but that would be the final score.  The two teams will play the fourth and final game of the series on Thursday.

New York Mets win on Opening Day

 The New York Mets defeated the Washington Nationals on Thursday night.  The game took place at

Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 5-1.  Tylor Megill started for the Mets and

pitched well.  Pete Alonso, Robinson Cano, Mark Canha and Jeff McNeil each had two hits to lead the

offense.  

Patrick Corbin started for the Nationals and pitched four innings giving up five hits and two runs, he

gave up two walks and struck out four and took his first loss of the year.  Victor Arano pitched a perfect 

inning, Austin Voth pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout 

and Andres Machado pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout.  Patrick Murphy

pitched an inning giving up two hits and Mason Thompson pitched an inning giving up a walk and 

striking out the side.  

Cesar Hernandez had a hit, Juan Soto had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Josh Bell had a hit.  Keibert

Ruiz had two hits, Lane Thomas drew a walk and Alcides Escobar had a hit.  Ruiz hit a double and Soto 

hit a home-run.  The Nationals were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.

Robles had an outfield assist.  

Megill won his first game of the season pitching five innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He struck

out six, Trevor May pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run, Adam Ottavino pitched a perfect 

inning striking out two and Seth Lugo pitched an inning giving up a walk and striking out one.  Edwin

Diaz pitched an inning walking one and striking out one.  

Starling Marte had a hit and an RBI, J.D. Davis had a hit and drew a walk and Francisco Lindor had a

hit and an RBI.  Alonso had two hits, Eduardo Escobar had a hit and drew a walk and Cano had two hits.

Canha had two hits, McNeil had two hits and an RBI and James McCann had an RBI.  Escobar and Davis

hit a double and the Mets were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Marte was

caught stealing and Lindor committed an error.  

In the top of the fifth McCann was hit by a pitch giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Marte grounded into a 

force out making it 2-0.  In the sixth Canha hit an RBI single, McNeil hit an RBI single pushing the

lead to 4-0.  In the bottom of the sixth Soto hit a solo homer to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the seventh Lindor

hit an RBI single extending the lead to 5-1 and that would be the final score.  

The two teams will play game two on Friday night.  Max Scherzer will start for the Mets.

New York Mets defeat the Milwaukee Brewers in Game one of a doubleheader in walk-off fashion

 

The New York Mets defeated the Milwaukee Brewers in Game one of their doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-3.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil led the offense with two hits each. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up four hits and two runs with no walks and ten strikeouts.  Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up an unearned run and two walks with two strikeouts.  Diaz picked up his third win of the season. 

Corbin Burnes started for the Brewers and he pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and a run with no walks and eight strikeouts.  Devin Williams pitched to one batter and retired him, Josh Hader pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and blew his first save of the season and Brent Suter pitched giving up a hit and two runs with one being earned and he didn’t record an out.  He also gave up a walk.   

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, Francisco Lindor had a hit and an RBI and Alonso had two hits.  James McCann drew a walk, McNeil had two hits and two RBI and Tomas Nido had a hit.  Jose Peraza had a hit and an RBI, Nimmo and Alonso each hit a double and Peraza hit a homerun.  The Mets were 3-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Nimmo was caught stealing. 

Luis Urias had two hits and an RBI with a walk, Christian Yelich had an RBI and Avisail Garcia had a hit.  Jace Peterson had a hit and an RBI, Tyrone Taylor drew a walk and Urias and Peterson each hit a homerun.  The brewers were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Taylor had a stolen base, Urias committed an error and Yelich had an outfield assist. 

In the first Urias hit a solo homerun giving the Brewers a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Lindor hit an RBI single to tie the game at one.  In the fifth Peterson hit a solo homerun giving the Brewers a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the seventh Peraza hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the eighth Yelich was hit by a pitch and a run scored to give the Brewers back the lead at 3-2.  In the bottom of the eighth McNeil hit a two-run walk-off single to give the Mets a 4-3 victory.

New York Mets blow lead and lose to the St. Louis Cardinals

 

The New York Mets were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.  The game took place at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri and the final score was 6-5.  Joey Lucchesi started for the Mets and he pitched poorly.  Pete Alonso had three hits and Kevin Pillar had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lucchesi pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and six runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Lucchesi took his second loss of the season.  Robert Gsellman pitched 2 1/3 innings with a strikeout, Sean Reid-Foley pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out three and Jacob Barnes pitched an inning with a walk. 

Adam Wainwright won his first game of the season.  He started for the Cardinals and pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs.  He walked three and struck out five.  Genesis Cabrera pitched an inning with two walks and a strikeout, Ryan Helsley pitched to one batter and got him out and Giovanny Gallegos pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Alex Reyes pitched an inning with two walks and he earned his eighth save of the season. 

Jeff McNeil had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Francisco Lindor drew a walk and Michael Conforto drew a walk.  Alonso had three hits and drew a walk, Dom Smith had an RBI and drew a walk and Pillar had two hits and two RBI.  Jonathan Villar drew a walk, Tomas Nido had a hit and an RBI and Alonso hit two doubles.  Pillar hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

Tommy Edman had two hits, Dylan Carlson had a hit and an RBI and Paul Goldschmidt had a hit and drew a walk.  Nolan Arenado had a hit, three RBI and drew a walk, Paul DeJong had two hits and Tyler O’Neill had a hit and an RBI.  Harrison Bader had a hit and an RBI, DeJong, O’Neill and Edman each hit a double and Edman hit a triple.  Bader and Arenado each hit a homerun and the Cardinals were 2-4 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

In the bottom of the first Carlson hit a sac fly to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.  In the second Nido was hit by a pitch to tie the game at one.  MeNeil drew an RBI walk and the Mets took a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the second Bader hit a solo homerun tying the game at two.  In the third Smith hit an RBI ground out to give the Mets back the lead at 3-2.  Pillar hit a two-run homerun extending the Mets lead to 5-2.  In the bottom of the third Arenado hit a three-run homerun tying the game at five.  O’Neill hit an RBI double and the Cardinals grabbed a 6-5 lead which would be the final score.

New York Mets squeak by the Colorado Rockies

 

The New York Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.  The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 2-1.  Marcus Stroman started for the Mets and he pitched very well.  Pete Alonso and Michael Conforto each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Stroman pitched eight innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Stroman earned his third win of the season.  Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up a hit and he earned his second save of the season. 

Antonio Senzatela started for the Rockies and he pitched six innings giving up five hits and two runs with one being earned.  He struck out four batters and took his third loss of the season.  Robert Stephenson pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Mychal Givens pitched an inning giving up a hit and Daniel Bard pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, Alonso had two hits and Conforto had two hits.  Jeff McNeil had a hit and an RBI, J.D. Davis had a hit and an RBI and Conforto and McNeil each hit a double.  The Mets were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Nimmo had a stolen base. 

Raimel Tapia had a hit, Trevor Story had two hits and Charlie Blackmon had a hit and an RBI.  Dom Nunez drew a walk, Story hit a double and the Rockies were 1-1 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Story was caught stealing and Cron committed an error.  Blackmon had an outfield assist. 

In the second McNeil hit an RBI ground out to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Davis hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the bottom of the seventh Blackmon hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1 and that would be the final score.

New York Mets double up the Philadelphia Phillies

 

The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 8-4.  Marcus Stroman started for the Mets and he pitched well.  The Mets bullpen pitched ok and the offense was led by Pete Alonso who had two hits and two RBI. 

Stroman pitched six innings giving up three hits and a run with two walks and three strikeouts.  He picked up his first victory of the season.  Miguel Castro pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts, Trevor May pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with one being earned.  He walked one and struck out one. 

Chase Anderson pitched five innings and gave up two hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  He took his first loss of the season.  Vince Velasquez pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up four runs and four walks with four strikeouts, Brandon Kintzler pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and David Hale pitched two innings giving up two hits and two runs with two walks. 

Brandon Nimmo had an RBI and drew three walks, Francisco Lindor had an RBI and Michael Conforto had a hit and an RBI.  Alonso had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Dom Smith had a hit and two RBI and Luis Guillorme drew a walk.  Jeff McNeil drew a walk, James McCann had a hit and drew a walk and Kevin Pillar drew a walk.  Alonso and Conforto each hit a double and Smith and Alonso each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Nimmo and Pillar each had a stolen base.  McNeil and Alonso each committed an error. 

Matt Joyce drew two walks, Rhys Hoskins had two hits and an RBI and Alec Bohm had a hit.  Bryce Harper drew a walk, J.T. Realmuto had a hit and an RBI and Didi Gregorius had two hits and an RBI.  Jean Segura had two hits, Adam Haseley had two hits and Haseley and Hoskins each hit a double and Gregorius hit a homerun.  The Phillies were 1-11 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base. 

In the fourth Smith hit a two-run homerun giving the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fourth Gregorius hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 2-1.  In the seventh Nimmo drew an RBI walk, Lindor hit a sac fly and Pillar stole home.  Conforto hit an RBI double and it was 6-1 Mets.  In the bottom of the seventh Hoskins hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-2.  In the ninth Alonso hit a two-run homerun pushing the Mets lead to 8-2.  In the bottom of the ninth Hoskins hit an RBI double and Realmuto hit into a forceout making it an 8-4 game but that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game on Wednesday afternoon.

New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals play to a tie in finale of spring

 

The New York Mets and St. Louis Cardinals played to a 3-3 tie in the final spring game.  The game took place at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter, Florida.  Taijuan Walker started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Pete Alonso hit a two-run double. 

Walker pitched five innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Miguel Castro pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up a hit and Jerry Blevins pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Hildenberger pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts. 

Adam Wainwright pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Jesus Cruz pitched to one batter and got him out, Carlos Martinez pitched three innings giving up a walk and he struck out two and Andrew Miller pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Ryan Helsley pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Giovanny Gallegos pitched an inning with a strikeout.

Davis drew a walk.  Pete Crow-Armstrong had a hit, Lindor, Alonso, Guillorme and Smith each hit a double and the Mets were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Tommy Edman had a hit, Nolan Arenado had a hit and an RBI and Edmundo Sosa had two hits and an RBI.  Justin Williams drew a walk, Matt Carpenter had a hit and an RBI and Arenado and Sosa each hit a homerun.  The Cardinals were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base. 

In the first Alonso hit a two-run double to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Arenado hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the third Carpenter hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  In the eighth Smith hit an RBI double to give the Mets a 3-2 lead and in the bottom of the ninth Sosa hit a solo homerun to tie the game at three and that would be the final score. 

The Mets will head to Washington D.C. to begin the season on Thursday night against the Washington Nationals.

New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves


The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Saturday.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-0.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched well.  The Mets offense only managed four hits. 

Matz pitched six innings giving up two hits and no runs and walked five and struck out seven.  Matz won his 11th game of the season.  Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two, Brad Brach pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Edwin Diaz pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and saved his 26th game of the season. 

Mike Foltynewicz pitched four innings giving up three hits and three runs with a walk and five strikeouts and lost his sixth game of the season.  Max Fried pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with five strikeouts and Chris Martin pitched to one batter and struck him out. 

Brandon Nimmo drew a walk, Pete Alonso had a hit and an RBI and J.D. Davis drew a walk.  Amed Rosario had a hit, Todd Frazier had a hit and Rene Rivera had a hit and two RBI.  Rivera hit a homerun and Alonso hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-1 with runners in scoring position and left one man on base.  Rosario was caught stealing. 

Ozzie Albies had a hit, Freddie Freeman had a hit and drew a walk and Nick Markakis drew a walk.  Adam Duvall had two hits, Brian McCann drew two walks and Billy Hamilton drew a walk.  Duvall hit a triple and the Braves were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base. 

In the third Alonso hit a three-run homerun and that was the only scoring in the game. 

Alonso set the rookie record with 53 homeruns and the Mets finished their season at 85-76 which is something to build on especially since they had such a poor first half and rallied in the second half of the season.

New York Mets win in Colorado


The New York Mets defeated the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Coors Field in Denver, Colorado and the final score was 6-1.  Marcus Stroman started and pitched great.  Pete Alonso, Wilson Ramos, Todd Frazier and Amed Rosario each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Stroman won his ninth game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up four hits and no runs.  He walked one and struck out seven.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Luis Avilan pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run. 

Tim Melville pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up six hits and four runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  He lost his third game of the season.  Phillip Diehl pitched to one batter and gave up a hit, Yency Almonte pitched to one batter and struck him out and Wes Parsons pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with two walks and a strikeout.  Rico Garcia pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run. 

Brandon Nimmo had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Jeff McNeil drew a walk and Alonso had two hits and two RBI.  Robinson Cano had a hit, Ramos had two hits and Michael Conforto drew a walk.  Frazier had two hits and an RBI, Rosario had two hits and two RBI and Joe Panik had a hit.  Ramos hit a double, Rosario, Nimmo and Alonso each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Trevor Story had a hit, Charlie Blackmon had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Sam Hilliard had two hits.  Pat Valaika had a hit which was a double and Blackmon hit a homerun and the Rockies were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Blackmon was caught stealing. 

In the sixth Rosario hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  Nimmo hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 3-0.  Alonso hit a solo homerun and it was 4-0.  In the eighth Alonso hit an RBI single and in the ninth Frazier hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 6-0.  Blackmon hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the ninth to cut the lead to 6-1 and that was the final score.

New York Mets defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks


The New York Mets defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-1.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well and Seth Lugo closed it out.  Pete Alonso, Wilson Ramos and Amed Rosario each had two hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and 11 strikeouts.  deGrom earned his ninth win of the season.  Lugo saved his fifth game of the season pitching two perfect innings with four strikeouts. 

Merrill Kelly pitched six innings giving up seven hits and three runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Kelly lost his 14th game of the season.  Yoan Lopez pitched to one batter and got him out, Robby Scott pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and Stefan Crichton pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.  T.J. McFarland pitched 2/3 of an inning. 

Jeff McNeil had a hit, Alonso had two hits and two RBI and Michael Conforto had a hit and drew a walk.  Ramos had two hits, Robinson Cano had a hit and Brandon Nimmo drew a walk.  Rosario had two hits and an RBI, Ramos hit a double and McNeil hit a double.  Alonso hit two homeruns and the Mets were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Ramos committed an error. 

Josh Rojas had a hit, Eduardo Escobar had a hit and Wilmer Flores had a hit and an RBI.  Jarrod Dyson drew a walk, Flores hit a homerun and the Diamondbacks were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Dyson had a stolen base. 

In the first Alonso hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Rosario hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the fifth Flores hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth Alonso hit hits second homerun of the game to extend the lead to 3-1 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.

The New York Mets blow big lead in the ninth to lose to the Washington Nationals


The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Nationals Park in Washington D.C. and the final score was 11-10.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched ok, the bullpen was bad and Pete Alonso had three hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up eight hits and four runs with three walks and six strikeouts.  Seth Lugo pitched an inning, Paul Sewald pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up four this and four runs and Luis Avilan pitched giving up a hit and a run without recording an out.  Edwin Diaz pitched giving up two hits and two runs and he lost his seventh game of the season.  Diaz also blew his sixth save of the season. 

Max Scherzer pitched six innings giving up five hits and four runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Wander Suero pitched an inning giving up a walk, Roenis Elias pitched an inning giving up four hits and three runs with two of them being earned and Daniel Hudson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three unearned runs.  Javy Guerra pitched to one batter and got him out. 

Jeff McNeil had two hits and three RBI, Alonso had three hits and two RBI and Michael Conforto had a hit.  Wilson Ramos had a hit and an RBI, Brandon Nimmo had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Joe Panik had two hits and two RBI.  Todd Frazier drew a walk, Luis Guillorme had a hit and drew a walk and Ramos and Guillorme each hit a double.  Panik, McNeil, Nimmo and Alonso each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 4-8 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Nimmo had a stolen base and Guillorme was picked off. 

Trea Turner had two hits and an RBI, Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits and drew a walk and Anthony Rendon had two hits and an RBI.  Juan Soto had three hits and three RBI, Matt Adams had a hit and Ryan Zimmerman had a hit and two RBI.  Kurt Suzuki had two hits and four RBI, Victor Robles had two hits and an RBI and Andrew Stevenson drew a walk.  Cabrera, Soto, Robles, Turner and Zimmerman each hit a double.  Soto and Suzuki each hit a homerun and the Nationals were 7-15 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Turner had a stolen base, Adams committed an error and Suero was picked off. 

In the first Soto hit an RBI double and the Nationals had a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Ramos hit an RBI double to tie the game at one.  Nimmo hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 2-1 lead, Panik hit a two-run homerun to push it to a 4-1 lead.  In the sixth Suzuki hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the eighth McNeil hit a solo homerun and it was 5-2 Mets.  In the bottom of the eighth Soto hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 5-4.  In the ninth Nimmo hit a solo homerun, McNeil hit a two-run single and Alonso hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 10-4 lead.  In the bottom of the ninth Turner hit an RBI double, Rendon hit an RBI single and Zimmerman hit a two-run double to cut the lead to 10-8  Suzuki hit a three-run walk-off homerun to give the Nationals an 11-10 victory.

New York Mets defeat the Miami Marlins to sweep the doubleheader


The New York Mets defeated the Miami Marlins on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-4.  Walker Lockett started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  The Mets bullpen did pitch well and Michael Conforto and Pete Alonso each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lockett pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Robert Gsellman piltched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one, Jeurys Familia won his third game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a walk and he struck out one and Seth Lugo earned his second save of the season pitching two perfect innings with two strikeouts. 

Sandy Alcantara pitched five innings giving up three hits and two runs.  He walked three and struck out four.  Jeff Brigham pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with a strikeout and Jarlin Garcia pitched 1 1/3 innings with three strikeouts. 

Jeff McNeil drew two walks, Ahmed Rosario had a hit and Conforto had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Alonso had two hits and an RBI, Wilson Ramos had a hit and J.D. Davis had two hits and an RBI.  Davis hit a double and a homerun and Conforto and Alonso also hit homeruns.  The Mets were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Rosario had a stolen base. 

Miguel Rojas had a hit and drew a walk, Isan Diaz drew a walk and Brian Anderson had three hits.  Curtis Granderson had two hits and two RBI, Harold Ramirez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Bryan Holaday had two hits and an RBI.  Anderson hit two doubles, Holaday and Granderson each hit a double and Holaday hit a homerun.  The Marlins were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Diaz was caught stealing. 

In the first Conforto hit a two-run single to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Ramirez hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth Holaday hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  Granderson hit a two-run double and the Marlins had a 4-2 lead.  In the seventh Davis hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-3 and Conforto hit a solo homerun to tie the game at four.  Alonso hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 5-4 lead and that was the final score. 
The Mets swept the doubleheader and will play two more games

New York Mets lose to the Atlanta Braves


The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves on Friday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-2.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Pete Alonso, Robinson Cano and Tomas Nido led the offense with two hits each. 

deGrom pitched six innings giving up six hits and three runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  deGrom lost his seventh game of the season.  Wilmer Font pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs with two strikeouts and Stephen Nogosek pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Mike Soroka pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and two runs with four strikeouts.   Anthony Swarzak pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, A.J. Minter pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Luke Jackson pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Alonso had two hits and an RBI, Cano had two hits and Todd Frazier had a hit.  Dom Smith had a hit, Nido had two hits and an RBI and J.D. Davis had a hit.  Alonso hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Rosario committed an error. 

Ronald Acuna Jr. had a hit, Freddie Freeman had two hits and drew two walks and Josh Donaldson had an RBI.  Nick Markakis had two hits, Austin Riley had two hits and two RBI and Johan Camargo had a hit and three RBI.  Soroka had a hit, Markakis and Camargo each hit a double and Riley hit a homerun and the Braves were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Acuna Jr. and Freeman each had a stolen base. 

In the second Riley hit a two-run homerun to give the Braves a 2-0 lead.  In the third Donaldson hit a sac fly to push the lead to 3-0.  In the fourth Alonso hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the seventh Nido hit an RBI single and the lead was cut to 3-2.  In the eighth Camargo hit a three-run double to extend the lead to 6-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two on Saturday and then finish the series on Sunday.

New York Mets pounded the Chicago Cubs


The New York Mets defeated the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.  The game took place at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final score was 10-2.  Zack Wheeler started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Amed Rosario had three hits and Jeff McNeil, Pete Alonso and Todd Frazier each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Wheeler pitched seven innings giving up five hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Wheeler won his sixth game of the season.  Chris Flexen pitched two innings giving up a hit and an unearned run with three walks and two strikeouts. 

Jose Quintana pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up nine hits and nine runs with eight of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out two.  Rowan Wick pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and an unearned run with a walk and two strikeouts, Brad Brach pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Kyle Ryan pitched an inning giving up a walk.  Victor Caratini pitched a perfect inning. 

McNeil had two hits and three RBI, Alonso had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and J.D. Davis had a hit.  Dom Smith drew a walk, Frazier had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk and Michael Conforto had a hit and an RBI.  Wilson Ramos had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Rosario had three hits, Rosario, McNeil and Alonso each hit a double.  Alonso and Frazier and Ramos each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  McNeil committed an error and Ramos had a passed ball. 

Kyle Schwarber had a hit and drew a walk, Kris Bryant had a hit and Daniel Descalso drew a walk.  Willson Contreras had a hit, Jason Heyward had three hits and Carlos Gonzalez drew a walk.  David Bote drew a walk, Heyward hit a double and the Cubs were 0-10 with runners in scoring position and lef thet seven men on base.  Caratini committed an error and Schwarber had an outfield assist.  Contreras had two passed balls. 

In the first Alonso hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second McNeil hit a two-run single and it was 3-0 Mets.  In the third Frazier hit a two-run homerun to push the Mets lead to 5-0.  In the fourth McNeil hit an RBI double making it 6-0.  In the fifth Conforto hit an RBI single and it was 7-0.  Ramos hit a two-run homerun to make it 9-0 and in the sixth Frazier hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 10-0.  In the seventh Caratini grounded into a double play but a run scored to cut the lead to 10-1.  In the ninth a wild pitch made it 10-2 and that was the final score.

New York Mets were defeated by the Chicago Cubs


The New York Mets were defeated by the Chicago Cubs on Thursday.  The game took place at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final score was 7-4.  Walker Lockett started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  Jeff McNeil and Pete Alonso each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Lockett pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up five hits and six runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  Lockett lost his first game of the season.  Brooks Pounders pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two, Wilmer Font pitched three innings giving up a hit and three walks and he struck out five and Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout.  Stephen Nogosek pitched an inning with a strikeout. 

Tyler Chatwood pitched four innings giving up six hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out one.  Adbert Alzolay pitched four innings giving up a hit and a run with two walks and five strikeouts and he won his first game of the season.  Steve Cishek pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and he saved his seventh game of the season. 

McNeil had two hits, Alonso had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk and Todd Frazier had a hit and an RBI.  Wilson Ramos drew a walk, Amed Rosario had a hit and drew a walk and Carlos Gomez had a hit.  Alonso and Frazier each hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Ramos had a passed ball.

In the second Gomez grounded into a double play and a run scored to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the third Alonso hit a two-run homerun to push their lead to 3-0.  In the bottom of the third Descalso hit an RBI single, Bryant hit an RBI single and Rizzo hit a two-run double and the Cubs had a 4-3 lead.  Baez hit an RBI triple and a wild pitch made the score 6-3 Cubs.  In the seventh Baez hit a solo homerun to make it 7-3 and then in the ninth Frazier hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 7-4 but that would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of four on Friday.

New York Mets pound the Atlanta Braves to even their series


The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night.  The game took place at SunTrust Park in Atlanta, Georgia and the final score was 10-2.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and pitched well.  Pete Alonso led the offense with four hits and Jeff McNeil added three hits. 

deGrom pitched 8 1/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs with no walks and ten strikeouts.  deGrom won his fourth game of the season.  Robert Gsellman pitched to two batters and struck them both out. 

Julio Teheran pitched four innings giving up eight hits and six runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Teheran lost his fifth game of the season.  Touki Toussaint pitched two innings giving up two hits and two runs with three walks and two strikeouts, Grant Dayton pitched an inning giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts and Josh Tomlin pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and three strikeouts. 

McNeil had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Alonso had four hits, three RBI and drew two walks and Robinson Cano had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Michael Conforto had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Todd Frazier had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks and Amed Rosario had a hit and an RBI.  Carlos Gomez had a hit and drew a walk, Tomas Nido had a hit and deGrom had a hit.  Alonso hit two doubles and McNeil, Conforto, deGrom and Cano each hit a double.  Alonso, Conforto and McNeil each hit a homerun and the Mets were 6-17 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Rosario, Gomez and McNeil each had a stolen base. 

Dansby Swanson had a hit, Freddie Freeman had a hit and an RBI and Josh Donaldson had two hits and an RBI.  Johan Camargo had a hit, Swanson hit a double and Freeman and Donaldson each hit a homerun.  The Braves were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the third Alonso hit an RBI double, Conforto hit an RBI double and Frazier hit an RBI ground out to give the Mets a 3-0 lead.  Rosario hit an RBI single and it was 4-0 Mets.   In the fourth Alonso hit a two-run homerun tp push the Mets lead to 6-0.  In the sixth Cano hit an RBI double, Frazier had an RBI walk and the Mets lead was up to 8-0.  In the eighth Conforto hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 9-0.  In the ninth McNeil hit a solo homerun and it was 10-0.  In the bottom of the ninth Freeman hit a solo homerun and Donaldson hit a solo homerun making it a 10-2 game.  10-2 would be the final and the two teams will meet on Wednesday afternoon for the rubber game.

New York Mets lose in extra innings to the San Francisco Giants


The New York Mets were defeated by the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 9-3.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he pitched well, the bullpen wasn’t able to hold the lead.  Wilson Ramos had three hits and Pete Alonso and J.D. Davis each had two to lead the offense. 

Syndergaard pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Seth Lugo pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up three hits and he struck out one, Edwin Diaz pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out three and Robert Gsellman lost his first game of the season pitching 1/3 of an inning and giving up three hits and five runs with two walks.  Hector Santiago pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Madison Bumgarner pitched six innings giving up six hits and three runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Sam Dyson pitched an inning with a strikeout, Tony Watson pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and Mark Melancon pitched an inning with a strikeout and he won his second game of the season.  Derek Holland pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one. 

Jeff McNeil had a hit, Alonso had two hits and an RBI and Michael Conforto had a hit.  Davis had two hits and drew a walk, Ramos had three hits and two RBI and Todd Frazier had a hit and drew a walk.  Ramos hit a homerun and Alonso hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Conforto and Alonso each committed an error and Conforto had an outfield assist. 

Joe Panik had two hits, Mike Yastrzemski had a hit and an RBI, Evan Longoria had a hit and drew a walk.   Tyler Austin had a hit, Brandon Belt had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Stephen Vogt had two hits and two RBI.  Kevin Pillar had a hit and an RBI, Brandon Crawford drew two walks and Steven Duggar had two hits and two RBI.  Bumgarner drew a walk and Pablo Sandoval had two hits and two RBI.  Duggar, Belt, Sandoval and Vogt each hit a double.  the Giants were 7-16 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Panik had a stolen base and Vogt was caught stealing. 

In the fourth Pillar hit an RBI single and Duggar hit an RBI single to give the Giants a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth Alonso hit a solo homerun and Ramos hit a two-run homerun giving the Mets a 3-2 lead.  In the seventh Belt hit an RBI double to tie the game at three.  In the tenth Vogt hit a two-run double, Duggar hit an RBI double and Sandoval hit a two-run double.  Yastrzemski hit an RBI single and the lead was 9-3 which would be the final score of the game. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night.

New York Mets blow late lead for a horrible loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers


The New York Mets were defeated by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California and the final score was 9-8.  Noah Syndergaard and started for the Mets and he pitched well.  The Mets bullpen did not pitch well and Dom Smith and Pete Alonso led the offense with three hits each. 

Syndergaard pitched six innings giving up seven hits and three runs.  He walked two and struck out five.  Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run, Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Edwin Diaz lost his third game of the season and blew his second save of the season.  Diaz pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up five hits and four runs with a walk. 

Walker Buehler pitched five innings giving up seven hits and five runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Pedro Baez pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Julio Urias pitched an inning giving up four hits and two runs with a strikeout and Yimi Garcia pitched an inning with a walk.  Scott Alexander won his third game of the season pitching an inning with a walk. 

Amed Rosario had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Smith had three hits and an RBI and Alonso had three hits and four RBI.  Michael Conforto had a hit and drew a walk, Wilson Ramos drew a walk and Todd Frazier had two hits.  Adeiny Hechavarria had two hits and two RBI, Syndergaard had a hit and Frazier, Conforto and Hechavarria each hit a double.  Syndergaard also hit a double and Alonso hit two homeruns.  Rosario and Smith each hit a homerun and the Mets were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Hechavarria was caught stealing and Gomez had an outfield assist. 

Joc Pederson had two hits and an RBI, Max Muncy had two hits and an RBI and Justin Turner had three hits and two RBI.  Cody Bellinger had a hit and an RBI, Corey Seager had three hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Matt Beaty had three hits and an RBI.  Alex Verdugo had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Buehler drew two walks and Bellinger, Turner, Muncy, Pederson, Beaty, Verdugo each hit a double.  Seager hit two doubles and Seager, Muncy and Pederson each hit a homerun.  The Dodgers were 6-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Beaty had a stolen base and he committed an error.  Pederson had an outfield assist.  

In the first Alonso hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 2-0 lead.  In the second Hechavarria hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 3-0.  In the bottom of the second Beaty hit an RBI double, Verdugo hit an RBI double and the lead was cut to 3-2.  In the third Turner hit an RBI single to tie the game at three.  In the fifth Alonso hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets back the lead at 5-3.  In the sixth Hechavarria hit an RBI single to push the Mets lead to 6-3.  In the seventh Rosario and Smith each hit a solo homerun to make it 8-3 Mets.  In the bottom of the seventh Turner hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 8-4 and in the bottom of the eighth Seager hit a solo homerun making it 8-5.  In the bottom of the ninth Pederson hit a solo homerun, Muncy hit a solo homerun and Bellinger hit an RBI double to tie the game at eight.  Verdugo hit a walk-off sac fly to give the Dodgers a 9-8 victory.  The Mets have lost the first three games of the series and will try to salvage one on Thursday.
