New York Yankees silenced by the Anaheim Angels

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Anaheim Angels on Tuesday night.  The game took place 

At Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-2.  Clarke Schmidt started for the 

Yankees and he wasn’t good.  The bullpen was good and the offense only managed four hits.  

Schmidt pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up six hits and four runs with no walks and five strikeouts.  He took

His first loss of the season.  Greg Weissert pitched 1/3 of an inning and walked a batter, Ron Marinaccio

Pitched two innings giving up a run with two strikeouts and Jimmy Cordero pitched two innings giving up 

A hit and he struck out three.  Albert Abreu pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  

Jose Suarez started for the Angels and he pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with six

Walks and a strikeout.  Andrew Wantz pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out two and

Won his first game, Jimmy Herget pitched two innings and he struck out two and Jaime Barria pitched 

An inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Jose Quijada pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts

And he earned his third save of the season.  

Anthony Volpe had an RBI and drew two walks, Aaron Judge had an RBI and Anthony Rizzo had a hit.

Gleyber Torres drew a walk, DJ LeMahieu drew a walk and Oswald Peraza had a hit and drew a walk.

Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit and Kyle Higashioka had a hit.  Aaron Hicks drew two walks, Rizzo hit a 

Double and the Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left 8 men on base.  Kiner-Falefa 

Was picked off and Higashioka committed two errors.  

Taylor Ward had two hits, Shohei Ohtani had a hit and two RBI and Mike Trout had two hits.  Anthony

Renton had two hits, Hunter Renfroe had a hit and an RBI and Logan O’Hoppe had a hit and drew a walk.

Ward, Trout and Renfroe each hit a double.  Ohtani hit a homerun and the Angels were 2-7 with runners in 

Scoring position and left five men on base.  Ohtani had a stolen base and Suarez had a pickoff.  

Ohtani hit a two-run homer in the first giving the Angels a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Renton hit an RBI 

Single making it 3-0 and Renfroe hit an RBI double pushing the lead to 4-0.  In the bottom of the fourth

Volpe drew an RBI walk cutting the lead to 4-1.  Judge hit a sac fly making it a 4-2 game.  In the fifth 

Rendon hit a sac fly extending the lead to 5-2 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play

Game two of three on Wednesday night.
