New York Yankees blow out the Boston Red Sox


The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-0.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he pitched great.   Aaron Judge and Mike Tauchman each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Paxton pitched eight scoreless innings giving up two hits and a walk and he struck out 12.  Paxton won his second game of the season.  Joe Harvey pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Chris Sale took his fourth loss of the season and he pitched five innings giving up seven hits and four runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Erasmo Ramirez pitched three innings giving up four hits and four runs with a walk and a strikeout.   

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an RBI, Judge had two hits and drew a walk and Luke Voit had a hit and an RBI.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI, Clint Frazier had a hit and an RBI and Gio Urshela had a hit.  Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk,Austin Romine had a hit and Tauchman had two hits and four RBI.  Tauchman, Urshela and Gardner each hit a double and Tauchman Frazier and Torres each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-9 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Judge had a stolen base. 

Mookie Betts drew a walk, Xander Bogaerts had a hit and J.D. Martinez had a hit.  Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit, Bradley and Bogaerts each hit a double and the Red Sox were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Leon committed an error. 

In the third LeMahieu hit an RBI single and Voit hit an RBI single to make it 2-0 Yankees.  In the fourth Frazier hit a solo homerun to push the Yankees lead to 3-0.  Tauchman hit an RBI double and it was 4-0 Yankees.  In the sixth Tauchman hit a three-run homerun to extend the lead to 7-0.  In the seventh Torres hit a solo homerun to make it a 8-0 game and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of two on Wednesday night.

New York Yankees are shutout in blowout loss to the Boston Red Sox


 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Saturday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 11-0.  Sonny Gray started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well.  The Yankees offense only produced two hits. 

Gray pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and six runs with two walks.  Gray lost his sixth game of the season.  Adam Warren pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out four, Giovanny Gallegos pitched two innings giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and three strikeouts and Jonathan Holder pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run.  Chasen Shreve pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts. 

Chris Sale won his eighth game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up a hit and no runs.  He walked one and struck out 11.  Heath Hembree pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Hector Velazquez pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Austin Romine drew a walk.  Brett Gardner drew a walk and the Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Judge had an outfield assist. 

Mookie Betts had two hits and drew two walks, Andrew Benintendi had a hit and an RBI and J.D. Martinez had three hits and three RBI.  Mitch Moreland drew a walk, Xander Bogaerts had two hits and Rafael Devers had five hits and four RBI.  Brock Holt had a hit and an RBI, Sandy Leon had two hits and two RBI and Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit.  Leon, Devers and Betts each hit a double.  Devers and Leon each hit a homerun.  The Red Sox were 7-15 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Benintendi and Bradley Jr. each had a stolen base. 

In the first Devers hit a grand slam giving the Red Sox a 4-0 lead.  In the second Benintendi hit an RBI single, J.D. Martinez hit a sac fly and it was 6-0 Red Sox.  In the sixth Martinez hit an RBI single to push the lead to 7-0.  In the seventh Leon hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 9-0.  In the eighth Martinez hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 10-0 and the scoring was wrapped up with a Holt RBI single in the ninth to make it 11-0 which was the final score. 
The two teams have split the first two games and will play the rubber game on Sunday ni

New York Yankees get smacked around by the Boston Red Sox


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 14-1.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he wasn’t very good and Tommy Khanle and Chasen Shreve out of the bullpen were even worse.  Aaron Judge had three hits to lead the offense. 

Severino pitched five innings giving up eight hits and five runs with three walks and six strikeouts and he took his first loss of the season.  Khanle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and five runs with three of them being earned and he walked three, Shreve pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and four runs all unearned and a walk with three strikeouts.  Luis Cessa pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Chris Sale pitched six innings giving up eight hits and a run with eight strikeouts to earn his first win of the season.  Joe Kelly pitched an inning giving up a hit and Brian Johnson pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts. 

Neil Walker had a hit, Judge had three hits and an RBI and Giancarlo Stanton had two hits.  Didi Gregorius had two hits, Tyler Austin had a hit and Shane Robinson had a hit and drew a walk.  Stanton hit a double and Judge hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Romine and Andujar each committed an error. 

Mookie Betts had four hits and four RBI and drew a walk, Andrew Benintendi had two hits, two RBI and drew two walks and Hanley Ramirez had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  J.D. Martinez had a hit, two RBI, Rafael Devers had an RBI and drew a walk and Eduardo Nunez drew a walk.  Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit, Christian Vasquez had a hit and Brock Holt had an RBI and drew a walk.  Betts hit two doubles, Benintendi and Martinez each hit a double.  Benintendi hit a triple and Betts hit a homerun and the Red Sox were 5-11 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Ramirez had a stolen base. 

In the first Ramirez hit an RBI single to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the second Benintendi hit a two-run triple and it was 3-0 Red Sox.  Ramirez hit an RBI single and the lead was pushed to 4-0.  In the fourth Ramirez hit a sac fly to extend the lead to 5-0.  In the fifth Judge hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-1.  In the sixth Martinez hit a two-run double, Devers hit a sac fly, Vasquez reached on a fielding error and a run scored and Holt had an RBI walk to make it 10-1 Red Sox.  Betts hit a grand slam and it was 14-1 which would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night.

The New York Yankees blew a game to the Boston Red Sox


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Sunday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-2 in ten innings.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and pitched well, the bullpen pitched well also until Aroldis Chapman blew the save.  The Yankees offense didn’t produce much. 

Montgomery pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with three walks and four strikeouts.  David Robertson pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out three, Dellin Betances pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Chapman blew his fourth save of the season and lost his second game of the season.  Chapman pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and three strikeouts and Tommy Khanle pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout. 

Chris Sale pitched seven innings giving up four hits and a run with two walks and 12 strikeouts.  Matt Barnes pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks, Robby Scott pitched to one batter and struck him out and Addison Reed pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and Craig Kimbrel won his fourth game of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings striking out two. 

Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Gary Sanchez had a hit and drew a walk.  Todd Frazier had an RBI, Chase Headley had a hit and drew a walk and Ronald Torreyes drew a walk.  Austin Romine had a hit and an RBI, Romine hit a triple and the Yankees were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Judge and Hicks each had a stolen base. 

Eduardo Nunez drew a walk, Mookie Betts drew a walk and Andrew Benintendi had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Hanley Ramirez drew a walk, Rafael Devers had a hit and an RBI and Xander Bogaerts drew a walk.  Brock Holt had a hit and drew a walk, Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit and an RBI and Devers hit a homerun.  The Red Sox were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

In the fifth Bradley hit an RBI single to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the fifth Romine hit an RBI triple to tie the game at one.  T. Frazier hit a sac fly in the eighth to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the ninth Devers hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the tenth Benintendi hit an RBI single to give the Red Sox a 3-2 lead and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees lost two out of three in the series and are now 51/2 games back in the AL East but still in the first wild card spot.

New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox in a marathon extra inning game


The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Saturday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 4-1 in 16 innings.  Luis Severino started the game for the Yankees and he pitched great, the bullpen was equally great.  Chase Headley had two hits to lead the offense and Matt Holliday had the big homerun to tie the game in the ninth. 

Severino pitched seven innings giving up four hits and a run with two walks and six strikeouts.  Tyler Clippard pitched an inning giving up a hit, Dellin Betances pitched an inning with a strikeout and Chasen Shreve pitched giving up two hits without recording an out.  Adam Warren pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Jonathan Holder pitched three innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with a walk.  Ben Heller picked up his first win of the year pitching two scoreless innings and walking one with three strikeouts. 

Chris Sale pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up three hits and no runs with two walks and 13 strikeouts.  Craig Kimbrel blew his third save of the season pitching 1 1/3 innings and giving up a hit and a run with three strikeouts, Heath Hembree pitched an inning with two walks and a strikeout and Robby Scott pitched a perfect inning.  Blaine Boyer pitched an inning with a walk, Brandon Workman pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Fernando Abad pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk.  Doug Fister lost his third game of the season pitching 2 2/3 innings and giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and a strikeout. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew two walks, Gary Sanchez had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Aaron Judge drew two walks.  Holliday had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Starlin Castro had a hit and drew a walk and Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit and drew a walk.  Chase Headley had two hits, Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI and Austin Romine had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Castro, Sanchez and Ellsbury each hit a double and Holliday hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-14 with runners in scoring position and left 14 men on base.  Ellsbury had a stolen base and Judge was caught stealing. 

Mookie Betts drew a walk, Dustin Pedroia had a hit and drew a walk and Xander Bogaerts had a hit and drew a walk.  Mitch Moreland had an RBI, Hanley Ramirez had a hit and Andrew Benintendi had three hits.  Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit, Tzu-Wei Lin had a hit and drew a walk and the Red Sox were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Ling was caught stealing and committed an error.  Bogaerts also committed an error. 

In the third inning Moreland hti a sac fly to give Boston a 1-0 lead.  In the ninth Holliday hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  IN the 16th inning Gregorius hit an RBI single, Romine hit an RBI single and Sanchez hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 4-1 lead and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will now play a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon and night.

New York Yankees sweep the Boston Red Sox behind a dominant Masahiro Tanaka


The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 3-0.  Masahiro Tanaka was brilliant for the Yankees and Aaron Hicks, Matt Holliday, Starlin Castro and Ronald Torreyes each had two hits to lead the offensive attack. 

Tanaka pitched a complete game three hit shutout.  He walked none and struck out three.  Tanaka earned his third win of the season. 

Chris Sale started for the Red Sox and he wasn’t bad himself.  He pitched eight innings giving up eight hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked none and struck out ten.  Sale took his second loss of the season.  Heath Hembree pitched an inning giving up a hit and no runs or walks. 

Hicks had two hits, Chase Headley had a hit and Holliday had two hits and two RBI.  Castro had two hits and an RBI, Torreyes had two hits and the Yankees were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Hanley Ramirez had two hits, Xander Bogaerts had a hit and the Red Sox were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Sandy Leon had a passed ball and Benintendi had an outfield assist. 

In the fourth Holliday hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the ninth Holliday hit an RBI single to make it a 2-0 game and Castro hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0.  The final score was 3-0 and the Yankees earned the two-game sweep.  The first game was rained out and will be made up in July as part of a day night doubleheader.  The Yankees will return home for six games against the Orioles and Blue Jays beginning on Friday night.

Severino pitched seven shutout innings.  He gave up three hits and two walks and struck out six.  Severino won his second game of the season.  Delllin Betances pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts and Aroldis Chapman picked up his fifth save of the season but it wasn’t easy.  He pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks and two strikeouts. 

Rick Porcello started for the Red Sox and he pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with two of them being earned.  He walked four and struck out nine and picked up his third loss of the season.  Robbie Ross Jr. pitched to one batter and walked him, Joe Kelly pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out two and Robby Scott pitched an inning walking one and striking out one.

Andrew Benintendi drew a walk, Mookie Betts had two hits and Mitch Moreland drew a walk. Chris Young had an RBI, Hanley Ramirez had a hit and drew a walk and Jackie Bradley Jr. drew a walk.  Marco Hernandez had a hit, Betts hit a double and the Red Sox were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Bogaerts and Leon each committed an error. 

In the second Judge hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the sixth Bird hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-0.  In the ninth Young hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 3-1 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the second and final game of the series on Thursday night.  Masahiro Tanaka goes up against Chris Sale in a matchup of aces.

New York Yankees lose the game and Luis Severino in loss to the Chicago White Sox



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Chicago White Sox on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New  York and the final score was 7-1.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he didn't pitch well and left the game with an injury.  The Yankees offense couldn't do much against Chicago ace Chris Sale.  Mark Teixeira had two hits and Chase Headley hit a homerun. 

Severino pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and seven runs with four walks and two strikeouts.  He lost his sixth game of the season, Nick Goody pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three, Chasen Shreve pitched two innings walking two and striking out one and Kirby Yates pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout. 

Sale won his eighth game of the season pitching a complete game.  He gave up six hits and a run with no walks and six strikeouts. 

Aaron Hicks had a hit, Starlin Castro had a hit and Teixeira had two hits.  Headley had a hit and an RBI, Brett Gardner had a hit and Teixeira hit a double and Headley a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Adam Eaton had three hits and two RBI, Jimmy Rollins had a hit and two RBI and Jose Abreu had a hit and two RBI.  Todd Frazier drew two walks, Melky Cabrera drew a walk and Brett Lawrie had a hit.  Avisail Garcia had a hit and drew a walk, Alex Avila had two hits and an RBI and Austin Jackson drew three walks. 

In the  second Avila hit an RBI double to give the White Sox a 1-0 lead.  Abreu hit a two run single and it was 3-0 White Sox.  In the bottom of the second Headley hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  The Yankees would not get any closer in the game.  In the third Eaton hit a two run double to make it a 5-1 game.  Rollins hit a two run homerun and it was 7-1 which would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.  The Yankees record on the current homestand is now 5-3.

The New York Yankees begin final homestand with a victory over the Chicago White Sox



The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Michael Pineda started for the Yankees and pitched well, the bullpen did their job and Carlos Beltran hit a three run homerun. 

Pineda pitched six innings giving up one run on eight hits.  He walked none and struck out six and won his 12th game of the season.  Justin Wilson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk, Dellin Betances pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and two walks and he struck out two and Andrew Miller saved his 35th game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and striking out two batters. 

Chris Sale lost his 11th game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up seven hits and three runs.  He walked one and struck out eight.  Nate Jones pitched to one batter and struck him out, Zach Duke pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out one. 

Chase Headley had two hits, Alex Rodriguez drew a walk and Beltran had two hits and three RBI.  Chris Young had a hit, John Ryan Murphy had a hit and Rob Refsnyder had a hit.  Beltran hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Ellsbury had a stolen base. 

ADam Eaton had three hits and drew a walk, Jose Abreu had a hit and Melky Cabrera had a hit and drew a walk.  Trayce Thompson had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Adam LaRoche had a hit and Alexei Ramirez had two hits.  Tyler Flowers had two hits, Thompson hit a homerun and the White Sox were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Ramirez was caught stealing. 

In the third Beltran hit a three run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the sixth Thompson hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the seventh Thompson drew an RBI walk to make it 3-2 which was the final score.  The Yankees will play game two of four tomorrow night against the White Sox.

The New York Yankees late rally against Chicago White Sox falls just short



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night.  The game took place at US Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois and the final score was 3-2.  David Phelps started for the Yankees and was very good.  The offense couldn't get anything going against Chris Sale who dominated them. 

Phelps pitched seven innings giving up two runs and six hits.  He walked one and struck out eight and took his first loss of the season.  Alfredo Aceves pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk. 

Chris Sale pitched six innings giving up no runs and one hit.  He walked none and struck out ten and won his fourth game of the season.  Zach Putnam pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Daniel Webb pitched a perfect inning and Ronald Belisario pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with one of them earned.  He walked one and struck out two and picked up his second save of the season. 

Derek Jeter drew a walk, Mark Teixeira had a hit and two RBI and Zoilo Almonte had a hit.  Ichiro Suzuki had a hit.  The Yankees were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Almonte had a stolen base. 

Adam Eaton had two hits and an RBI, Gordon Beckham had a hit and Adam Dunn had a hit and an RBI.  Alexei Ramirez had a hit and drew a walk, Paul Konerko had a hit and Alejandro De Aza had a hit and an RBI.  Tyler Flowers had a hit and drew a walk, Konerko, De Aza and Beckham each hit a double.  The White Sox were 4-10 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Ramirez had a stolen base, Flowers had a passed ball. 

In the second De Aza hit an RBI double and Eaton hit an RBI single to give the White Sox a 2-0 lead.  In the eighth Dunn had an RBI single to push the White Sox lead to 3-0.  In the ninth the Yankees scored two runs on a Teixeira two run single.  The Yankees and White Sox will play game two of four on Friday night.

The New York Mets lose to the Chicago White Sox on a walkoff

The Chicago White Sox defeated the New York Mets. The final score was 5-4 and the game took place at US Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois. Zack Wheeler started for the Mets and pitched ok for the Mets. The Mets bullpen was pretty good and offensively they didn’t do that much.

Wheeler pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs. He walked three and struck out one. Carlos Torres pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit, Josh Edgin pitched an inning giving up a walk and LaTroy Hawkins pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and an unearned run. Hawkins took the loss his first of the season.

Eric Young Jr. had a hit and drew a walk, David Wright had a hit and drew a walk and Marlon Byrd had an RBI. Josh Satin had a hit and an RBI, John Buck had a hit and Andrew Brown had a hit and an RBI. Young hit a double and Brown hit a homerun. The Mets were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. Young and Murphy had a stolen base and Wright had two stolen bases. Hawkins committed an error.

Chris Sale pitched eight innings giving up four hits and three runs. Sale walked two and struck out 13, Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up a hit and an unearned run with two strikeouts. Reed blew the save but picked up his third win of the season.

Alejandro De Aza had two hits and an RBI, Alexei Ramirez had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Alex Rios had an RBI. Adam Dunn had a hit and drew two walks, Gillaspie drew a walk and Jeff Keppinger had a hit. Tyler Flowers had a hit and an RBI, Dunn hit a double and Flowers hit a homerun. The White Sox were 1-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. De Aza, Ramirez and Beckham each had a stolen base. Beckham committed an error.

Byrd hit a sacrifice fly and Satin hit an RBI single in the first inning giving the Mets a 2-0 lead. Rios hit an RBI groundout in the bottom of the first to cut the lead to 2-1. Flowers hit a solo homerun in the third to make it a 2-2 game. Brown hit a solo homerun in the fifth to give the Mets the lead 3-2. De Aza hit an RBI groundout and Ramirez hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth making it a 4-3 game in favor of the White Sox. Murphy reached on an error and a run scored to tie the game at four in the ninth inning. Ramirez hit an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth to give the White Sox the 5-4 victory.

The Mets record dropped to 30-43 and the White Sox record improved to 32-42. The two teams will play game two of two on Wednesday night.

The Yankees get swept in Chicago to the White Sox

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Chicago White Sox by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday night. The game took place at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois. Phil Hughes started for the Yankees and pitched well and Derek Jeter was their offense. Chris Sale started for the White Sox and pitched great and their offense was led by Alex Rios. 
Hughes pitched seven innings giving up five hits and two runs. He walked two and struck out five and he suffered his 11th loss of the season. Dave Robertson pitched an inning giving up a hit. Sale won his 15th game of the season pitching 7 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and 13 strikeouts. Brett Myers retired the only batter that he faced and Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out two. Reed saved his 23rd game of the season.

Jeter had a hit and an RBI, Robinson Cano had two hits and Mark Teixeira had a hit. Andruw Jones drew a walk, Teixeira and Cano each hit a double and Jeter hit a homerun. The Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. Martin had a passed ball.

DeWayne Wise had a hit, Kevin Youkilis had an RBI and drew a walk and Paul Konerko had a hit and drew a walk. Rios had two hits and an RBI, Alexi Ramirez had a hit and Gordon Beckham had a hit. Beckham hit a double and Rios hit a homerun. The White Sox were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and they left six men on base.

In the third inning Youkilis hit a sacrifice fly giving the White Sox a 1-0 lead. In the sixth inning Jeter hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one. In the sixth inning Rios hit a solo homerun to give the White Sox a 2-1 lead and that would be the final score.

The Yankees were swept in the three game series and will have Thursday off. The Yankees record fell to 72-52 and their lead in the AL East is down to three games over the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays have been on an unbelievable hot streak and that is what has them breathing down the Yankees neck. The Yankees will begin a three game series in Cleveland on Friday night.
