CC not great but Switch Pitcher is the Story

CC Sabathia had his final tuneup before it counts and wasn't too great. He actually had a poor spring but I don't think anyone has shown any concern and I actually feel the same way. He knows what he has to do and I am sure he will be find on Sunday night in Boston. He pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up 8 hits and 5 runs this afternoon with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Pat Venditte came on in relief of him, he is the switch pitcher and stole the show. He pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up 2 hits and 1 run but he was a attraction to say the least. Sabathia didn't even know he could throw with both hands, he said I came out saw a lefty coming in then saw a right hander and though oh he must of gotten hurt but then realized it was the same pitcher. He has put up good minor league numbers but is still considered a show more then anything. To his credit he was humbled by the experience and said it is up to him to be more then a show. The audio is up on the lohud yankees blog. Robinson Cano stayed hot going 2-4 with a solo homerun. Nick Swisher was 1-4 with his first homerun, Jorge Posada was 2-3 with 2 rbi and a walk. Curtis Granderson was 1-4 with 1 rbi, Juan Miranda was 1-4 with a rbi and Kevin Russo was 1-4. Robinson Cano remains hot, so far the 5th spot is really cooperating with him. Nick Swisher is having a good spring and so is Jorge Posada, the lineup looks ready to go. The Yankees will play the Blue Jays at 7:00PM at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Wrap Up of the day down in Tampa

The Yankees world is pretty quiet these days. Last year it was all about A-rod and his admission of steroids, this year they are world champions and there is just nothing crazy going on right now. This is New York and this is the Yankees so things can change quickly but for right now it is camp quiet and everything is good in the world. Here are some final notes from Yankees camp today. Some of the outfielders filtered in to the clubhouse today to drop their bags off in preperation for next week when they will all report to camp. Randy Winn was there along with Nick Swisher, Brett Gardner and Curtis Granderson. Joe Girardi said that Winn has a lot of experience and is used to being an everyday player. He will be competing for playing time in the corners Girardi said. The Yankees haven't decided if they will keep both Hughes and Chamberlain on the same schedule to line them up for the 5th starter or break them up, we will see how that all shakes out. There are no major injuries and no visa problems right now which is a good thing. Joe Girardi said anywhere between 100-120 games played for Jorge Posada would be good. He is talking about him catching that amount of games. 1,528 fans were in attendance to watch the Yankees first workout at George M. Steinbrenner Field. This was announced by the Yankees.
