The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles twice on Saturday. They beat them once Saturday afternoon and then again on Saturday night. It was a really good day for the Yankees offense as they won 8-3 and 17-3. Bartolo Colon started the first game and he labored through it but he was able to pick up the win. The bullpen did a good job also in the first game with four innings of work. The offense was paced by Nick Swisher who had three hits. The bottom of the order did all the damage with Chris Dickerson, Eric Chavez and Francisco Cervelli all having good games. In the night cap it was over before it started as the Yankees set a franchise record with 12 runs in the first inning. Ivan Nova started after about a month of being in the minors due to Phil Hughes rejoining the team. Nova even though he was spotted to a big lead looked good. He pitched seven strong innings.
Colon pitched five innings giving up five hits and two runs. He picked up his eighth win of the season. He walked two and struck out six. Cory Wade pitched three innings giving up two hits and one run and he struck out two and Boone Logan pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out a batter. In the night game Nova pitched seven innings giving up six hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out six. Nova earned his ninth win of the season and his ERA stands at 4.01. Luis Ayala pitched an inning giving up three hits and one run and Rafael Soriano made his return with a perfect inning and two strikeouts.
In the first game Brett Gardner had a hit and two RBI, Robinson Cano had a walk and Swisher had three hits and two RBI. Chavez had two hits and an RBI, Jorge Posada had a hit and an RBI and Dickerson had two hits and an RBI. Cervelli had two hits an RBI and a walk. Cervelli and Swisher had doubles and Swisher had a homerun. The Yankees were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and they left six men on base. Dickerson had a stolen base. Nunez made a throwing error which was his 14th error of the season.
In the second game there were plenty of offensive heroes. Derek Jeter had two hits and two RBI, Curtis Granderson had four hits and Mark Teixeira had three hits, two RBI and a walk. Robinson Cano had five hits and five RBI, Swisher had three hits and three RBI to continue his great day and Andruw Jones had two hits, two RBI and a walk. Russell Martin had two hits, an RBI and a walk, Nunez had two hits and an RBI and Gardner had a hit, RBI and a walk. Jones, Teixeira, Cano, Martin and Granderson each had a double. Nunez had a triple and Swisher and Jones had homeruns. The Yankees were 12-25 with runners in scoring position and they left 11 men on base.
The Yankees scored 12 runs in the first game which is the highest single total in an inning of the season. It was also the most they have ever scored in an inning. Nova pitched well and it will be interesting to see what the Yankees do now. It looks like for now they will have them both make a start next week and push back Colon and Garcia a day to give them extra rest. The Yankees are currently two games behind the AL East leading Boston Red Sox. They are five games ahead of the Anaheim Angels for the wild card and seven games ahead in the loss column.

Postgame Reaction from last nights Yankee Game
Joba Chamberlain met one of his childhood heroes before the game last night. John Smoltz was working for MLB network and he did offer Joba some advice. Smoltz remember started and relieved in his career and did both well. He told Joba to treat relieving as though it is a "one inning game." Joba said "It is just getting back in the routine, getting comfortable with what I do down there, when it is all clicking, it feels right." He was talking about being in the bullpen. He sure looked like his old self last night hitting 96 on the gun and showing that emotion that he needs to show.
Chad Jennings of the Journal News had these postgame notes:
Here is what A.J. Burnett said about Posada, he said that Posadas ability to block his curveball early in the game gave him the confidence to keep throwing it late. "My first couple of hooks aren't exactly 60 footers, they are more like 56 and a half."
Nick Swisher said "I'm really just taking this, for the first time in my career, like a job. Show up, I do the work, make sure I am doing everything the right way and it's really working out. Maybe I am just a little more focused."
Girardi said he didn't want to use Park because he felt a little sick yesterday.
Girardi said it was possible that Robertson would of pitched the whole 8th inning had he not allowed that leadoff single.
Girardi said this about Nick Johnson "That is why we went and got this guy." He was commenting on him getting on base 50 percent of the time even though he hasn't got a hit yet.
The Yankees were pleased with the way Burnett pitched, Burnett said that he just made 2 mistakes to Victor Martinez.
Here is what Girardi said about Cano in the 5 hole. "His approach has been outstanding."

CC not great but Switch Pitcher is the Story
CC Sabathia had his final tuneup before it counts and wasn't too great. He actually had a poor spring but I don't think anyone has shown any concern and I actually feel the same way. He knows what he has to do and I am sure he will be find on Sunday night in Boston. He pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up 8 hits and 5 runs this afternoon with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts. Pat Venditte came on in relief of him, he is the switch pitcher and stole the show. He pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up 2 hits and 1 run but he was a attraction to say the least. Sabathia didn't even know he could throw with both hands, he said I came out saw a lefty coming in then saw a right hander and though oh he must of gotten hurt but then realized it was the same pitcher. He has put up good minor league numbers but is still considered a show more then anything. To his credit he was humbled by the experience and said it is up to him to be more then a show. The audio is up on the lohud yankees blog.
Robinson Cano stayed hot going 2-4 with a solo homerun. Nick Swisher was 1-4 with his first homerun, Jorge Posada was 2-3 with 2 rbi and a walk. Curtis Granderson was 1-4 with 1 rbi, Juan Miranda was 1-4 with a rbi and Kevin Russo was 1-4. Robinson Cano remains hot, so far the 5th spot is really cooperating with him. Nick Swisher is having a good spring and so is Jorge Posada, the lineup looks ready to go. The Yankees will play the Blue Jays at 7:00PM at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Mets Lose to Cardinals
The New York Mets lost to the St. Louis Cardinals today by the score of 6-5. John Maine got the start and pitched pretty well today. He allowed 2 runs and 2 hits in 4 innings. Pat Misch and Francisco Rodriguez didn't pitch so well either. Francisco Rodriguez allowed 2 runs and Pat Misch allowed a run. Misch allowed 2 hits and 2 walks, Rodriguez allowed 3 hits and 2 runs with a strikeout. Sean Green pitched a scoreless inning with a walk and Elmer Dessens pitched a inning giving up a hit. Kiko Calero gave up a hit and a run without giving up a hit.
Gary Matthews Jr. gave up a hit and Ike Davis had a hit and rbi. Luis Castillo and Russ Adams had a hit. Fernando Martinez and Alex Cora each had a hit. Henry Blanco gave up a hit and Chris Coste had a hit and rbi. Frank Catalanotto had a hit and 2 rbi. The Mets play split squads tomorrow, one at Kissimmee against the Astros and one game at Tradition Field against the University Of Michigan.
According to Adam Rubin of the NY Daily News the Mets have released Josh Fogg.

Yanks Fall to Astros
The New York Yankees lost to the Houston Astros today by the score of 6-4. Alfredo Aceves got the start and for the first time this spring he struggled. He pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up 5 hits and 5 runs with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. His numbers do look a little worse then he pitched though. Most of the damage was done at the end of his outing but this clearly was his worst start of the spring. Mark Melancon pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up 2 hits and a run with a strikeout. Boone Logan pitched another scoreless inning, he did give up a hit and he had a strikeout.
Brett Gardner had a couple of hits, one of them was a bunt single. The bunt hit was his 3rd of the spring, he had 2 all of last season. He has been hitting well lately and has his spring average up to 281, if he can hit like that then he will be a starting outfielder on this team. Mark Teixeira had a hit and walk and Alex Rodriguez continues to heat up as he had 2 hits and 2 rbi. Greg Golson and David Winfree each had a hit and Robinson Cano had a hit and rbi. Francisco Cervelli, Jon Weber, Kevin Russo, Ramiro Pena, Mike Rivera and Reid Gorecki all had a hit.
The Yankees will host the Detroit Tigers tomorrow afternoon at 1:00PM on the YES network. Here are some postgame notes from today:
Joe Girardi on the 5th starter competition being such a big topic "I think people are interested that is why, because once that is set, you iron out your bullpen from there. There's a lot kind of up in the air because you don't know who's in your bullpen because of the 5th starter spot. I'm not really suprised by the attention."
The other competition is for the last roster spot and it is between Marcus Thames and Jaime Hoffman and neither is playing well. Hoffman is batting 130 and Thames is hitting 107 this spring. Girardi said they aren't in that big of a hurry to make that decision. The 5th starter should be decided by Friday. The Lohud Blog has audio of Joe Girardi speaking with the media.
A.J. Burnett will start tomorrow with Phil Hughes pitching in relief. Joba will start on Monday with Andy Pettitte pitching in a minor league game.

New York Mets defeat Boston Red Sox
The New York Mets defeated the Boston Red Sox today by the score of 4-2. Mike Pelfrey got the start and pitched well. He went 4 innings giving up 1 run on 4 hits. Jenrry Mejia was outstanding again pitching a 1-2-3 inning. His spring era is now 1.08. Kiko Calero and Elmer Dessens each pitched a perfect inning. Dessens got the win, Tobi Stoner pitched 2 innings giving up 3 hits and 1 run. You have to love the name, he is a guy to root for just because of his name.
The offense was kept quiet for the first few innings by John Lackey. Fernando Martinez continued his hot spring with a 3 run homerun. Angel Pagan had 2 hits and a walk, Gary Matthews Jr. had a hit and Ruben Tejada had a hit. That was all for the Mets offense. Fernando Martinez has 3 homeruns and 10 rbi on the spring and is batting 538. Daniel Murphy had a sac fly.
The Mets will travel to Jupiter again tomorrow night to face the Florida Marlins. The game is at 7:05PM. Anderson Hernandez was claimed off of waivers by the Cleveland Indians according to Brian Costa of the Star Ledger.
MLB is set to announce tomorrow that the June 28-30 series that was to be played in Miami with the Mets and Marlins is now being moved to San Juan, Puerto Rico. The Marlins will remain the home team.

Yanks finish reg. season with a bang
The New York Yankees closed out the regular season in style defeating the Tampa Bay Rays by the score of 10-2. The Yankees scored all 10 runs in the 6th inning led by A-rods 3 run homerun and grand slam. A-rod set a AL record by having 7 rbi's in the inning and he also finished his season with 30 homeruns and 100 rbis setting a major league record for most consecutive seasons with those marks. It was his 12th straight season with 30+ homers and 100+ rbi's. The Yankees finished the season with their most wins since the 1998 team who finished with 114 wins.
A.J. Burnett pitched 5 innings giving up 2 runs on 7 hits. He struggled early and then settled down. The bullpen was brilliant giving up 0 hits the last 4 innings. Joba Chamberlain pitched a perfect inning on 7 pitches, Dave Robertson pitched a perfect inning and so did Mariano Rivera. Phil Coke pitched 2/3 of an inning and Phil Hughes 1/3 of an inning. The Yankees will now wait to see who they will play either the Twins or Tigers who will play game 163 on Tuesday night in Minnesota. Nick Blackburn will face Rick Porcello and I am sure the Yankees will choose to play starting Wed night. The Yankees got a suprise visit from the BOSS who visited with them for an hour in the clubhouse before the game. He told them he was happy and excited for the postseason and just keep doing what they have been doing. The Yankees will meet tomorrow and make up their minds about the roster but not tell the players until they have too. Mark Teixeira finished tied with the league lead in homers and finished with the most rbi's.

Yanks routed now tied for first place
The New York Yankees lost to the Chicago White sox by a score of 14-4 this afternoon. A.J. Burnett coming into the game was 5-0 in games after a Yankees loss but just didn't have it today as he got lit up for 6 runs in just over 4 innings of work. Brian Bruney gave up a run and Phil Coke gave up 6 runs in 1/3 of an inning with 3 walks just pitching terribly. The only bright spots were youngsters Dave Robertson and Mark Melancon. They each pitched 2/3 scoreless innings. There isn't much to say about the offense A-rod had another good day going 3-4, Derek Jeter went 2-5 and Big Tex also had a couple of hits. Jerry Hairston Jr. had a hit a walk and a rbi in his yankees debut. The Yankees will try and salvage a game tomorrow before having a off day and then going to Toronto for 2 games. CC Sabathia is on the mound and this is what he was paid for to stop the bleeding and come up huge for this team but he is going up against Mark Buehrle so it won't be easy and then the Yankees will face Roy Halladay on Tuesday in Toronto. The Red Sox won tonight so now they are tied for first in the loss column 1/2 a game behind the Yankees with the HUGE 4 game series luring on Thursday.

Mets even up Subway Series
The New York Yankees played a pathetic game today against the Mets. I guess you have to give credit to Fernando Nieves for pitching a good game but the Yankees sure know how to make no names look great. He pitched the game of his life and personally I didn't see any great stuff from him, the Yankees just embarrassed themselves. I still don't know what people see in Kevin Long but I would fire him. If GeorgeSteinbrenner was still around he would fire Long and Dave Eiland. The pitching is a mess right now as Andy Pettitte once again threw too many pitches and lasted just 5 innings giving up 5 runs and 12 hits. Alfredo Aceves came in and gave up a solo homerun to Gary Sheffield and that was it in a inning. Jose Veras actually pitched 2 scoreless innings but I hope he is the one that goes when Bruney is activated. There really are no good words to describe the way the Yankees are playing right now, they should have lost 5 in a row as they got a nice fat gift from the Mets yesterday and couldn't take that and run with it. They now have a rubber match tomorrow with A.J. Burnett vs Johan Santana. The Yankees need A.J. to come up with the best start of the year for himself and hope they can hit Santana a little but I wouldn't count on it.
I am not going crazy longterm because the Yankees are 3 up on the Jays in the loss column for the wildcard and I have no doubt they will make the playoffs but they are showing right now they can't beat good teams. They lost 2 out of 3 to the Phillies at home, should have lost these two to the Mets and are 0-8 against the Red Sox, I hope this gets straightened out and a big win tomorrow would help but they don't get another crack at the Bosox for 2 months.

Yanks lose again to Bosox
I don't have much to say about tonights game as the Yankees just stunk it up. They can't beat the Red Sox who have all the confidence right now over the Yankees and the Yankees don't. A.J. Burnett pitched a couple of good games against the Rangers, but he just hasn't been that great, the Yankees have been looking for a vintage performance that he always had against them and it hasn't come to this point. The Yankees now are looking at Wang, who struggles in Fenway when he is good, I don't have a good feeling tomorrow and the Yankees really don't want to let this go to 0-7 and lose first place. The Yankees better find a way to hit Wakefield and when they do get on base just run wild on him, they have to score runs and hope Wang will be more like himself and pitch a decent game. The Yankees were shutout so there isn't much offensively, i think they had 2 hits, one was a infield single by Cano. Brett Tomko pitched pretty well in relief, Jose Veras yeah can you believe it pitched 2 scoreless innings and David Robertson pitched a scoreless inning.

Rays at Yankees
The Yankees will try to even their abbreviated three game set with the Rays this afternoon with Joba Chamberlain on the hill against Matt Garza. Matt Garza pitched well against the Yankees earlier in the year, but the Yankees came back and won the game 7-2. The goal of the Yankees should be to get the starters of the Rays out of the game early and go to work on the questionable and beat up bullpen of the Rays. Here are the pregame notes and lineup as always from Peter Abraham.
The Yankees have lost 2 of three and are 8-6 in their last 14. They enter today tied for first in the loss column. It would be nice if they can beat the Rays the next couple of games heading into the Fenway showdown. The Yanks are 2-9 vs the Rays and Red Sox and that has to change.
Yankee Stadium and Tropican Field are the only 2 ballparks in baseball that have given up at least one homerun in every game played there this year.
The Yankees set the record with 18 straight errorless games, since then they have at least one error in 4 straight games, it definitely hurt them yesterday.
Melky Cabrera has 23 rbi's and 11 of them have been to tie the game or give the Yanks the lead in the seventh inning or later.
Big Tex has 12 homeruns and 35 rbi's in his last 26 games, man is he hot not coincidentally he has really shined with A-rod back. Those two have formed a great bond and they should.
Derek Jeter has 11 stolen bases, he stole that many all of last year.
Yankees lineup:
Jeter(SS)
Damon(LF)
Tex(1B)
A-rod(3B)
Cano(2B)
Posada(C)
Matsui(DH)
Swisher(RF)
Cabrera(CF)

Another sweep as streak hits 9
Joba Chamberlain started and didn't make it through the first inning but not due to ineffectiveness rather taking a shot off the knee. X-rays are negative though and it was diagnosed as a bruised knee, he should make his next start. Alfredo Aceves came in to get the last out of the first and pitch the next 3 innings giving up 0 runs on 3 hits with a walk and strikeout. Jon Albaladejo pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up 4 runs and 5 hits with 2 strikeouts. Jose Veras pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up 2 hits and nothing else and MO pitched the ninth for the save. It was a 1-2-3 inning for MO with a strikeout.
The offense was led by Robinson Cano who had 3 hits and 3 rbi's batting in the #2 hole. Derek Jeter had a hit and a walk, Big Tex had 2 hits a walk and rbi. Hideki Matsui hit a solo homerun and Nick Swisher had a hit and 2 walks. Melky Cabrera had a hit and 2 rbi's. The Yankees broke out to a big lead and Aceves looked great when he was out there but as soon as he came out it got interesting. Phil Coke wasn't available tonight but should be tomorrow and the Yankees haven't used Bruney in 2 nights which I find interesting. The Yankees will begin a 3 game series to close out their homestand with Philadelphia tomorrow. A.J. Burnett will be on the hill against Brett Myers. A.J. needs to get back in the winning column here, he pitched really well last time out but didn't get any run support.

Yanks recap
The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays today by a score of 3-1. The Yankees including the Team USA and Canada games are now 20-12-1, they have now won 6 straight and 15 of their last 17. This doesn't mean much as it is spring training and it doesn't count, the thing that does mean something though is that their pitching has been there pretty much day in and day out. The Yankees have the pitching all around this year and when you get good pitching you always have a chance to win and that is why they have been winning all these games even though its spring training. Andy Pettitte got the start today going 6 1/3 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits with 0 walks and 7 strikeouts. The other thing I have been noticing about the Yankee pitching is they haven't walked too many and they do strike out a lot of guys. Damaso Marte pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and thats all. Jose Veras pitched an inning giving up a hit and thats all and Edwar Ramirez finished it off pitching an inning with 0 hits, 0 runs and 1 strikeout. Andy Pettitte was thrilled with what he did today and said his shoulder has been doing great, no trouble at all. If you count the two minor league games Pettitte has pitched 22 innings this spring and allowed 3 runs with 18 hits and 20 strikeouts.
The offense was led by Mark Teixera who had 2 rbi going 2-3 with a walk, he also made a diving stop in the field, this is going to be a huge difference this year with him, the Big G was just a statue and he is going to make that whole infield so much better. Drek Jeter was 1-2 with a walk, Melky Cabrera was 1-2. Johnny Damon had 2 walks and Jose Molina was 1-4.
Mariano Rivera will pitch in a minor league game tomorrow then one of the Cubs games, he does not need to pitch back to back days before the season Joe Girardi said today. The Yankees will finish up their grapefruit league schedule with a game tomorrow at Cincinatti and then home wednesday against the Phillies, they will head to NY Wednesday evening and have a workout at the new stadium on Thursday. They play the first 2 games at the New Stadium on Friday night at 7:00pm and Saturday at 1:00pm.

Yankees minor league game and notes
The AAA Yankees tied Pittsburgh's AAA 5-5. Kei Igawa pitched 4 innings giving up 7 hits, 3 runs with 2 of them earned. He had 2 walks and strikeouts. He left the game early with tightness in his groin and will be checked out tomorrow. Mark Melancon pitched 2 innings giving up 1 hit, 0 runs and 2 strikeouts. Kevin Whelan also pitched 2 innings, giving up 1 hit and 1 run on a wind blown homerun.
Kevin Russo was 2-4, Juan Miranda was 1-4. Edwar Gonzalez was 1-2 with a hr and 4 rbis. Colin Curtis returning from having a few days off was 1-2. Humberto Sanchez pitched a 1-2-3 inning for AA Trenton, his first action of the spring.

Yankees minor league stats and notes
Ian Kennedy pitched well and was happy with his curveball which he is working on locating at the bottom of the strikezone and has been working on it all week. He allowed 6 hits with 5 of them singles, and three were to the first three batters he faced. He finished going 5 1/3 innings, 1 run with 1 walk and 2k. Kanekoa Texeira pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up 3 hits and 1 run which wasn't earned with 1 walk and strikeout. Steven Jackson pitched 2 innings giving up 2 hits, 1 run which wasn't earned and had 3 strikeouts.
The offense had Kevin Russo going 2-3 with a walk and rbi, Austin Jackson was 1-2 with a walk. David Williams was 2-2 with a rbi, I believe he is out of Rutgers University in NJ. Eric Duncan was 3-4 with a hr and 3rbi. Francisco Cervelli threw out a guy at second, he could be a backup catcher in the future, the Yankees really seem to be stocked at catcher with him Austin Romine and Jesus Montero leading the pack. Alan Horne who was one of the Yankees top pitching prospects last year before he got hurt threw what was basically a simulated game today throwing 40 pitches. He said his command was better today and that he is working on consistency with his fastball command. He said tonight that he would be pitching in a real game on Sunday, if everything goes well he could be back at AAA at some point this year and knocking on the door to the big leagues. Most of these notes are via Chad Jennings who covers the AAA Yankees and does a great job there and with his blog which you can locate on my link list to the right on the blog.

Recap of Yankees Action
The New York Yankees won another one, defeating the Minnesota Twins in Fort Myers by a score of 4-2. Phil Hughes got the start and went 4 1/3 innings giving up 1 run on 3 hits and 1 walk. He said after the game that he felt good about his fastball command and felt good about his changeup. " My curve wasn't great but was usable. I did throw some good cutters. Overall I feel good, I feel strong, I'm ready to go." Jason Johnson pitched 1 2/3 inning giving up 3 hit, 1 run, 1 walk. Anthony Claggett pitched 1 inning only giving up a walk, Dave Robertson pitched 1 1/3 inning giving up 0 runs, 0 hits, 1 walk and 3 k's. Kei Igawa finished it off pitching 2/3 of an inning giving up 2 hits and a walk but keeping his scoreless streak alive which is now 12 2/3 innings. I wonder if anyone needs a left handed pitcher, any takers, anyone??
The offense had Brett Gardner going 1-3, Todd Linden going 1-2 with a hr. Robbie Cano was 1-3 and played 5 innings at second base. He handled two groundballs at second and turned a double play. He said he felt good, no pain and everything was perfect which is good news. Big Tex was 1-3 with his first hr of the spring and Austin Jackson also had a hr. Shelly Duncan had another hit to continue his hot spring he is hitting 407, Hideki Matsui was 0-3. The Yankees have now won 8 straight, maybe they should slow down a little and make sure they do this against Baltimore and KC when the season starts. The Yankees will host the Detroit Tigers tomorrow with Joba getting the start at 1:15pm.

Recap of todays Yankees action
The New York Yankees were defeated by the Detroit Tigers today by a score of 7-4. CC Sabathia started and gave up 5 runs on 6 hits in 1 2/3 innings. He also had 1 walk, I wouldn't get too excited either way with CC, he feels fine and is just getting his work in, he hasn't developed his cutter yet and he is a veteran that knows what it takes to be ready when it counts. Alfredo Aceves vying to be the long reliever pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up 3 hits and 2 runs with 1 walk and 1 strikeout. Brian Bruney pitched a perfect inning with 2 k's and Veras did the same. Mark Melancon continued to impress with 1 inning of scoreless pitching giving up 1 hit. In the spring so far he has pitched 5 innings giving up 3 hits, 1 run but unearned, 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. I don't know if he is doing enough to make the team out of spring training but I am confident he will be with the Yankees at some point this season.
On the offensive side Melky Cabrera was 0-3 with a walk, Johnny Damon was 2-2 with a walk. Big Tex was 2-3 with a walk and rbi and Cody Ransom was 1-3 but did have an error. The Yankees get their first off day of the spring tomorrow and will be back at it on Friday.
Edwar Ramirez threw BP today and will pitch on Saturday, MO also threw BP will do so again on Saturday should be in a game on Monday and will go from there, he will be ready come opening day.

New York Yankees vs Detroit Tigers
The Yankees finally got another win tonight in Tampa beating Detroit 7-3. CC Sabathia made his debut and gave up 1 unearned run in 2 innings of work. He gave up 2 hits with 2 strikeouts. Alfredo Aceves vying for the long relief spot pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up 0 runs on 1 hit with 1 walk and 1 strikeout. Jose Veras pitched 1 inning with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts and Dave Robertson pitched a perfect inning striking out the side. On the offensive side Brett Gardner had a hit, he also made a nice catch in CF. Johnny Damon had a hit and rbi, Nick Swisher had a walk and a rbi. Jorge Posada had a hit, Cody Ransom had a hit and two stellar defensive plays at third base. Austin Jackson and Jesus Montero the 2 top rated prospects in the system each had a hit.
Brian Cashman stated that as of right now surgery is not scheduled for Arod but that he is staying in Colorado for the forseable future. I am thinking they are keeping him there for a few more days to let him work out and the Dr. can watch him to see how he responds. I am guessing we should know by the middle of next week for sure if he will play or have the surgery. It looks like the Yankees are trying to get as much information as possible about this and not rush into a decision, I think arod will try and play through it but we will see, Cash has not had any contact with other teams about a trade.
