New York Yankees power to victory over the Atlanta Braves

The New York Yankees defeated the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 9-6.  Jordan Montgomery started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Mike Ford led the offense with a couple of hits and three RBI. 

Montgomery pitched six innings giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Montgomery won his second game of the season.  David Hale pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Adam Ottavino pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Chad Green pitched to two batters getting them both out and he struck out one.  Zack Britton saved his sixth game of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Touki Toussaint pitched four innings for the Braves and he gave up four hits and six runs with five being earned.  He walked one and struck out three.  Bryse Wilson pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and two runs with four walks and two strikeouts, Luke Jackson pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Josh Tomlin pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and drew two walks, Aaron Judge had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Mike Tauchman drew a walk.  Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk, Luke Voit had a hit and three RBI and Gleyber Torres drew two walks.  Ford had two hits and three RBI, he had two doubles and Voit and Judge each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-11 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  LeMahieu and Torres each committed an error and Sanchez had a passed ball. 

Dansby Swanson had an RBI, Travis d’Arnaud had a hit and Freddie Freeman had a hit and drew a walk.  Marcell Ozuna had two hits and three RBI, Johan Camargo had a hit and an RBI and Austin Riley had a hit.  Tyler Flowers had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Ozuna, Camargo and Flowers each hit a double.  Ozuna hit a homerun and the Braves were 2-15 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Toussaint and Riley each committed an error. 

In the first Voit hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the third Voit lined out and a run scored on an error to make it 4-0.  Ford hit a two-run double and the lead was pushed to 6-0.  In the bottom of the fifth Judge hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 7-0.  Ford grounded into a double play and it was an 8-0 game.  In the sixth Ozuna hit a three-run homerun to cut the lead to 8-3.  In the seventh Swanson reached on a fielder’s choice and an error to make it 8-4.  In the seventh Ford hit an RBI double to make it 9-4 and in the eighth Camargo hit an RBI double to cut the deficit to 9-5.  Flowers hit an RBI double and it was 9-6.  That was as close as it got as the game ended with a 9-6 Yankees victory.  The two teams will play game two of two on Wednesday night.

New York Yankees finish exhibition games with a tie against the Phillies


The New York Yankees played the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium and the final score was 2-2.  This was the final exhibition game before the regular season begins on Thursday night. 

Deivi Garcia started for the Yankees and he struggled a bit.  He pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out one.  David Hale pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up two hits and three walks with a strikeout, Nick Nelson pitched 1 2/3 perfect innings with three strikeouts and Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit.  Brooks Kriske pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Tony Zych pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Vince Velasquez pitched five innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and six strikeouts.  Blake Parker pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks with a strikeout, Robert Stock pitched an inning with a walk and Ramon Rosso pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout.  Mauricio Llovera pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout. 

Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI, Clint Frazier drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had a hit.  Aaron Hicks drew two walks, Mike Tauchman had a hit and Mike Ford had a hit and an RBI.  Miguel Andujar drew a walk, Luke Voit had a hit and Erik Kratz had a hit.  Brett Gardner drew a walk, Gio Urshela had a hit and Voit hit a double.  Judge and Ford each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Tauchman was caught stealing and Andujar was picked off.  Garcia committed an error. 

Roman Quinn had a hit and an RBI, Didi Gregorius had a hit and JT Realmuto had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Rhys Hoskins drew two walks, Phil Gosselin had a hit and Scott Kingery drew two walks.  Nick Williams had two hits, Alec Bohm had a hit and Gregorius, Realmuto and Gosselin each hit a double.  The Phillies were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Haseley had an outfield assist and Velasquez had a pickoff. 

In the first Realmuto hit an RBI double giving the Phillies a 1-0 lead.  In the second Quinn hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the fifth Judge hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the ninth Ford hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two and that would be how it ended as they decided not to play extra innings. 

The Yankees will have a couple of workout days and then start the regular season Thursday night in Washington.

New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-2.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Mike Ford led the offense with three hits and a couple of RBI. 

Paxton pitched six innings giving up three hits and one unearned run.  He walked none and struck out seven and picked up his 15th victory of the season.  Jonathan Loaisiga pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with five strikeouts and Chad Green pitched a perfect inning striking out the side. 

T.J. Zeuch pitched four innings giving up four hits and tow runs with six strikeouts and he lost his first game of the season.  Thomas Pannone pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Brock Stewart pitched an inning giving up five hits and four runs with a strikeout and Jordan Romano pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout.  Elvis Luciano pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Giancarlo Stanton had two hits and two RBI.  Cameron Maybin drew a walk, Ford had three hits and two RBI and Clint Frazier had a hit and an RBI.  Tyler Wade had two hits and drew a walk, Kyle Higashioka had a hit and two RBI and Judge, Stanton, Wade, Ford and Frazier each hit a double.  Stanton hit a homerun and the Yankees were 6-11 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Wade had a stolen base and Gardner was picked off.  Gregorius committed an error. 

Jonathan Davis had a hit and an RBI, Cavan Biggio had a hit and Vlad Guerrero Jr. had a hit.  Randal Grichuk had a hit, Teoscar Hernandez had a hit and an RBI and Richard Urena had a hit.  Guerrero Jr., Grichuk and Hernandez each hit a double and the Blue Jays were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Pannone had a pickoff. 

In the third Davis hit an RBI single to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Stanton hit an RBI double, Ford hit an RBI single and the Yankees grabbed a 2-1 lead.  In the sixth Stanton hit a solo homerun, Frazier hit an RBI double and Higashioka hit a two-run single to push their lead to 6-1.  In the seventh Hernandez hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 6-2.  In the bottom of the seventh Ford hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 7-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game on Sunday afternoon.

New York Yankees hold off the Seattle Mariners


The New York Yankees defeated the Seattle Mariners on Monday night.  The game took place at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington and the final score was 5-4.  J.A. Happ started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen did their job and DJ LeMahieu and Mike Ford each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Happ pitched five innings giving up two hits and three runs with three walks and seven strikeouts.  Happ earned his 11th win of the season.  Cory Gearrin pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Nestor Cortes Jr. pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and Tommy Khanle pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with two strikeouts and earned his 36th save of the season. 

Matt Wisler pitched an inning with two strikeouts.  Tommy Milone pitched five innings giving up eight hits and five runs with two walks and a strikeout and lost his eighth game of the season.  Erik Swanson pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Wade LeBlanc pitched two innings striking out two batters. 

LeMahieu had two hits, Aaron Judge had a hit and Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI, Mike Tauchman drew a walk and Gio Urshela had a hit.  Austin Romine had a hit and an RBI, Ford had two hits and three RBI and LeMahieu hit a double.  Gardner hit a triple and Torres hit a homerun.  Ford hit two homeruns and the Yankees were 2-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Judge had a stolen base. 

Austin Nola had a hit, Kyle Seager drew two walks and Tom Murphy had a hit and drew a walk.  Omar Narvaez drew a walk, Dylan Moore had a hit and three RBI and Mallex Smith had a hit and an RBI.  Moore and Smith each hit a homerun and the Mariners were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the second Torres hit a solo homerun and Romine hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  Ford hit a two-run homerun and it was 4-0 Yankees.  In the second Moore hit a three-run homerun cutting the lead to 4-3.  In the fourth Ford hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 5-3.  In the seventh Smith hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 5-4 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night. 


The New York Yankees defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers and take series


The New York Yankees defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday night.  The game took place at .  Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California and the final score was 5-1.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The Yankees bullpen also pitched well and DJ LeMahieu and Mike Ford each had two hits. 

German won his major league leading 17th game of the season.  He pitched six innings giving up five hits and a run with two walks and five strikeouts.  Adam Ottavino pitched 2/3 of an inning with two strikeouts, Tommy Khanle pitched to one batter and struck him out and Zack Britton pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out three. 

Clayton Kershaw pitched seven innings giving up four hits and three runs with 12 strikeouts.  He lost his third game of the season.  Pedro Baez pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and Adam Kolarek pitched an inning giving up two hits and an unearned run. 

LeMahieu had two hits and a run RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI and Ford had two hits and two RBI.  Gleyber Torres drew a walk, Brett Gardner had a hit and Gio Urshela had a hit and an RBI.  Mike Tauchman had a hit, Ford hit a double and LeMahieu, Judge and Ford each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Tauchman had a stolen base. 

Joc Pederson had a hit and an RBI, Max Muncy had a hit and drew a walk and Justin Turner had a hit.  Cody Bellinger drew a walk, Corey Seager drew a walk and Chris Taylor had a hit.  Austin Barnes had a hit, Muncy, Barnes and Taylor each hit a double.  Pederson hit a homerun and the Dodgers were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Pederson was caught stealing and Barnes and Kolarek each committed an error. 

In the first LeMahieu hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Pederson hit a solo homerun tying the game at one.  In the third Judge hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the sixth Ford hit a solo homerun to push the Yankees lead to 3-1.  In the eighth Ford hit an RBI double making it 4-1 and in the ninth Urshela hit an RBI single to extend the Yankees lead to 5-1 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees took two out of three to win the series and will head to Seattle for a three-game series that begins on Monday night.
