New York Yankees get clobbered by the Boston Red Sox

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Friday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 15-5.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he wasn’t good.  Josh Donaldson had two hits to lead the offense with every other starter having a hit. 

German took his fourth loss of the season pitching two innings and giving up seven hits and seven runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Matt Krook pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up four hits and five runs with a walk, Albert Abreu pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs which were both unearned and Nick Ramirez pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Isiah Kiner-Falefa pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run. 

Tanner Houck started for the Red Sox and pitched four innings giving up four hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Joe Jacques pitched two innings giving up three hits and three runs with one of them being earned and he struck out two and earned his first win of the season.  Corey Kluber pitched two innings giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout and Brennan Bernardino pitched an inning giving up a walk. 

Jake Bauers had a hit, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and Gleyber Torres had a hit.  Anthony Rizzo had a hit and three RBI, Donaldson had two hits and an RBI and Willie Calhoun had a hit.  Billy McKinney had a hit and an RBI, Kyle Higashioka had a hit and Anthony Volpe had a hit and drew two walks.  Bauers and Rizzo each hit a double and Donaldson hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Bauers and Torres each committed an error. 

Alex Verdugo had two hits, Justin Turner had three hits and six RBI and Rafael Devers drew a walk.  Adam Duvall had a hit, Jarren Duran had a hit and Masataka Yoshida had four hits and three RBI.  Christian Arroyo had a hit, Triston Casas had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Connor Wong had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Pablo Reyes had two hits and two RBI, Turner, Verdugo, Duvall, Arroyo, Duran and Casas each hit a double and Yoshida hit two doubles.  Turner hit two homeruns and the Red Sox were 10-18 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Reyes committed an error. 

In the top of the first Rizzo hit an RBI groundout giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Yoshida hit a two-run double giving the Red Sox a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the second Turner hit a two-run homerun to extend the Red Sox lead to 4-1.  In the bottom of the third Yoshida hit an RBI single, Reyes hit an RBI single and Turner hit a grand-slam giving the Red Sox a 10-1 advantage.  In the bottom of the fourth Wong hit a two-run single pushing the lead to 12-1.  Reyes hit an RBI single making it 13-1.  In the top of the sixth Rizzo hit a two-run double cutting the lead to 13-3 and McKinney hit an RBI single making it 13-4.  In the bottom of the sixth Casas hit an RBI single making it 14-4 and in the eighth Donaldson hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 14-5.  In the bottom of the eighth Casas hit an RBI double making it 15-5 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.

New York Yankees even series with the Boston Red Sox behing strong pitching

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Saturday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-1.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen was good as well.  Gleyber Torres led the offense with two hits. 

German pitched six innings giving up six hits and a run with two walks and five strikeouts.  German won his fourth game of the season.  Wandy Peralta pitched an inning with two walks, Tommy Khanle pitched a perfect inning and Clay Holmes pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and earned his eighth save of the season. 

Tanner Houck started for the Red Sox and he pitched six innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Houck lost his sixth game of the season.  Brennan Bernardino pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Josh Winckowski pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits. 

Torres had two hits and an RBI, Willie Calhoun had a hit and an RBI and Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit.  Billy McKinney had a hit, Kyle Higashioka had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  McKinney hit a double and Torres and Calhoun each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Higashioka committed an error.

In the bottom of the fourth Torres hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Devers hit a solo homerun tying the game at one.  In the bottom of the sixth Calhoun hit a solo homerun giving the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the bottom of the seventh Higashioka hit an RBI single making it 3-1 and that would be the final score.  The two teams will play the rubber game of the series on Sunday night.

New York Yankees defeat the Tampa Bay Rays

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 3-2.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen was very good and Harrison Bader and IKF led the team with two hits each. 

German pitched five innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Wandy Peralta pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits, Ron Marinaccio pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one and he won his first game of the season.  Clay Holmes pitched an inning giving up a hit and Ian Hamilton picked up his first save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Drew Rasmussen started for the Rays and he pitched 5 2/3 innings giving up two hits and no runs with two walks and six strikeouts.  Ryan Thompson pitched to one batter and retired him, Jalen Beeks pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Kevin Kelly pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up four hits and two runs and he lost his first game of the season.  Javy Guerra pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one. 

Anthony Volpe drew a walk, Anthony Rizzo had a hit and Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk.  DJ LeMahieu had a hit and an RBI, Willie Calhoun had a hit and drew a walk and Bader had two hits and two RBI.  IKF had two hits, Kyle Higashioka drew a walk and LeMahieu and IKF each hit a double.  The Yankees were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  IKF was caught stealing and Bauers had an outfield assist. 

Yandy Diaz had a hit and drew a walk, Wander Franco had a hit and Randy Arozarena had a hit.  Manuel Margot had two hits and two RBI, Harold Ramirez had a hit and Tyler Walls drew a walk.  Luke Raley had two hits, Christian Bethancourt had a hit and Margot, Bethancourt and Raley each hit a double.  The Rays were 1-12 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Walls had a stolen base, Siri and Raley each had a stolen base and Franco was caught stealing.  Brandon Lowe and Franco each committed an error. 

In the bottom of the first Margot hit a two-run double giving the Rays a 2-0 lead.  In the eighth LeMahieu hit an RBI double cutting the lead to 2-1.  Bader hit a two-run single and the Yankees had the lead at 3-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play the rubber game of the series on Sunday afternoon.

New York Yankees walk it off in extras to defeat the Tampa Bay Rays

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-3.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen was great and the Yankees offense only managed six hits. 

German pitched five innings giving up three hits and three runs with five strikeouts.  Wandy Peralta pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two walks, Jonathan Loaisiga pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two walks and he struck out one and Chad Green pitched an inning giving up two walks and he struck out two.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning with two strikeouts. 

Tyler Glasnow pitched seven innings giving up four hits and three runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  J.P. Feyereisen pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, Pete Fairbanks pitched an inning giving up two walks and Andrew Kittredge pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and two runs with one being earned.  He walked two and struck out two and took his first loss of the season. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, Roughned Odor had a hit and Aaron Judge had an RBI and drew three walks.  Gio Urshela had a hit, Gleyber Torres drew a walk and Gary Sanchez had a hit.  Miguel Andujar had a hit and an RBI and Brett Gardner drew a walk.  Clint Frazier had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks.  Sanchez hit a double and Andujar and Frazier each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base and LeMahieu committed an error. 

Brandon Lowe had a hit, Ji-Man Choi drew a walk and Austin Meadows had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks.  Yandy Diaz drew two walks, Kevin Kiermaier had a hit and an RBI and Brett Phillips drew a walk.  Meadows and Kiermaier each hit a homerun and the Rays were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Meadows had a stolen base. 

In the first Meadows hit a two-run homerun to give the Rays a 2-0 lead.  In the third Judge drew an RBI walk and a wild pitch tied the score at two.  IN the fourth Andujar hit a solo homerun and the Yankees grabbed a 3-2 lead.  In the fifth Kiermaier hit a solo homerun to tie the score at three.  In the 11th Frazier hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees the 5-3 walk-off victory.

New York Yankees beat up on the Baltimore Orioles

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Orioles by a score of 8-2 on Saturday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland.   Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The bullpen also pitched well and Tyler Wade had three hits, Luke Voit, Aaron Judge and Gio Urshela each had two hits. 

German pitched six innings giving up four hits and a run with two walks and six strikeouts.  German picked up his third win of the season.  Lucas Luetge pitched a perfect inning, Justin Wilson pitched a perfect inning and Luis Cessa pitched an inning giving up two hits and an unearned run. 

Jorge Lopez started for the Orioles and he picked up his fourth loss of the season.  He pitched two innings giving up six hits and five runs with four being earned.  He walked two and struck out four.  Keegan Akin pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with a strikeout, Tyler Wells pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with four strikeouts and Shawn Armstrong pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out two. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and drew a walk, Voit had two hits and two RBI and Judge had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Urshela had two hits, Gary Sanchez had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Brett Gardner had a hit.  Miguel Andujar had a hit, Wade had three hits and Judge hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Wade was caught stealing and Urshela committed an error. 

Cedric Mullins had a hit and drew a walk, Austin Hays had a hit and Trey Mancini had a hit and an RBI.  Ramon Urias had a hit and an RBI, Rio Ruiz had a hit and Chance Sisco had a hit and drew a walk.  Sisco hit a double and the Orioles were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Sisco had a passed ball. 

In the first a passed ball gave the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  Sanchez hit a two-run single to push their lead to 3-0.  In the second Judge hit a two-run homerun and the Yankees lead was extended to 5-0.  In the sixth a balk scored a run and it was 6-0 Yankees.  Voit hit a two-run single to push the lead up to 8-0.  In the bottom of the sixth Mancini hit an RBI ground out and the lead was cut to 8-1.  In the bottom of the ninth Urias hit an RBI single and it was an 8-2 game.  8-2 would be the final score.  The Yankees will try and complete the three-game sweep on Sunday afternoon.

The New York Yankees win second straight over the Nationals on a walk-off

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Washington Nationals on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The bullpen did their thing and the offense only managed five hits but it was enough for the victory. 

German pi9tched 6 1/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs.  He walked one and struck out six.  Michael King pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits, Wandy Peralta pitched to one batter and got him out and Aroldis Chapman earned his second win of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and striking out one. 

Joe Ross started for the Nationals and he pitched five innings giving up three hits and two runs with five walks and seven strikeouts.  Sam Clay pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Austin Voth pitched two innings giving up a hit and three walks with two strikeouts and Brad Hand lost his first game of the season.  Hand pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and a run with two walks. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and drew a walk, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Aaron Hicks had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI, Gary Sanchez drew a walk and Mike Ford drew two walks.  Tyler Wade drew a walk, Brett Gardner had a hit and drew a walk and Aaron Judge drew a pinch-hit walk.  Gardner hit a double, Torres hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  LeMahieu had a stolen base. 

Trea Turner had three hits, Josh Bell had a hit and Starlin Castro had two hits and drew a walk.  Kyle Schwarber had a hit and two RBI, Yan Gomes had a hit and Castro and Bell each hit a double.  Schwarber hit a homerun and the Nationals were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the bottom of the third Hicks hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the sixth Torres hit a solo homerun to push the Yankees lead to 2-0.  In the seventh Schwarber hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at two.  In the bottom of the ninth Stanton hit an RBI walk-off single to give the Yankees the 3-2 win.  It was their second straight walk-off win and they finished their homestand at 7-2.  The Yankees will be off on Monday before beginning a three-game series in Tampa Bay on Tuesday night.

New York Yankees shutout the Baltimore Orioles

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles 7-0 on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland and the final score was 7-0.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  Giancarlo Stanton had three hits and Gio Urshela had three RBI to lead the offense. 

German pitched seven innings giving up three hits and no runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  German earned his second win of the season.  Michael King pitched two innings giving up a hit and he had two strikeouts. 

Dean Kremer lost his second game of the season pitching 4 1/3 innings and giving up ten hits and six runs with four strikeouts.  Shawn Armstrong pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out one, Tyler Wells pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and Tanner Scott pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

DJ LeMahieu had two hits, Stanton had three hits and Gleyber Torres had two hits and an RBI.  Urshela had two hits and three RBI, Mike Ford had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Aaron Hicks had an RBI.  Clint Frazier had two hits and an RBI, Torres and Frazier each hit a double and Ford, Urshela and Frazier each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Trey Mancini had two hits, DJ Stewart drew a walk and Pedro Severino had a hit.  Ryan Mountcastle had a hit.  The Orioles were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the second Ford hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Torres hit an RBI single pushing the lead to 2-0.  Urshela hit a three-run homerun and it was 5-0 Yankees.  Hicks hit a sac fly in the fifth to push the lead to 6-0 and in the eighth Frazier hit a solo homerun to make it 7-0 and that was the final score. 

The two teams will finish their series on Thursday afternoon.

New York Yankees shutout by the Tampa Bay Rays

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday afternoon.  The game took

place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 4-0.  Domingo German 

started for the Yankees and he didn't pitch very well.  The Yankees offense was non existant.  

German pitched four innings giving up eight hits and four runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  He took

his second loss of the season.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts, Jonathan 

Loaisiga pitched two innings giving up two hits and a walk with three strikeouts and Luis Cessa pitched

a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  

Chris Archer pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up three hits and he struck out four for the Rays.  He left the 

game with an injury.  Andrew Kittredge pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk with a 

strikeout.  He won his second game of the season, Jeffrey Springs pitched two innings giving up a hit

and he struck out three, Ryan Thompson pitched a perfect inning and Cody Reed pitched an inning 

giving up a walk and he struck out one.  Chris Mazza pitched a perfect inning.  

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a

walk.  Brett Gardner had a hit, Gary Sanchez had a hit and LeMahieu and Gardner each hit a double.

The Yankees were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Sanchez and Urshela

each committed an error.   

Yoshi Tsutsugo had a hit, Austin Meadows had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Randy Arozarena had

three hits and an RBI.  Yandy Diaz drew a walk, Joey Wendle had two hits and Willy Adames had 

a hit and drew a walk.  Brett Phillips had a hit, Francisco Mejia had a hit and two RBI.  Phillips hit a 

double and Meadows and Arozarena each hit a homerun.  The Rays were 1-7 with runners in scoring 

position and left 11 men on base.  

In the first Meadows hit a solo homerun giving the Rays a 1-0 lead.  In the second Mejia hit a two-run

single pushing the Rays lead to 3-0.  In the third Arozarena hit a solo homerun extending the Rays lead

to 4-0 and that would be the final score.  

The Yankees will try and avoid the three-game sweep on Sunday afternoon.

New York Yankees bats are silent as they drop rubber game to the Toronto Blue Jays

 

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-1.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch great.  Michael King came out of relief and was great.  The Yankees offense only managed five hits. 

German pitched three innings giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts.  He took his first loss of the season.  King pitched six innings giving up a hit and no runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  He retired the last 16 batters that he faced. 

T.J. Zeuch pitched four innings giving up three hits and no runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Trent Thornton pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk, Ryan Borucki pitched 2/3 of an inning and picked up his first win of the season and David Phelps pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts.  Jordan Romano pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Julian Merryweather pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and he picked up his second save of the season. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Jay Bruce had a hit and drew a walk.  Clint Frazier had a hit,Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI and Frazier and Torres each hit a double.  The Yankees were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Torres and Sanchez each committed an error. 

Bo Bichette had a hit, Vlad Guerrero Jr. had a hit and an RBI and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had a hit.  Randall Grichuk had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Joe Panik had a hit and Alejandro Kirk drew a walk.  Bichette hti a double and Guerrero Jr. and Grichuk each hit a homerun.  The Blue Jays were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

In the second Guerrero Jr. hit a solo homerun and Grichuk hit a two-run homerun to give the Jays a 3-0 lead.  In the fifth Gardner hit an RBI groundout to cut the lead to 3-1.  That would be the final score. 

The Yankees lost two out of three to the Blue Jays and will begin a three-game series at home against the Baltimore Orioles on Monday night.  Jordan Montgomery will get the start.

New York Yankees lose final spring game to the Detroit Tigers

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the Detroit Tigers on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at 

George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 5-2.  It was the final spring game

as the Yankees headed north after to begin the season on Thursday afternoon in the Bronx.  Domingo

German started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Giancarlo Stanton hit a double and Thairo Estrada

hit a homerun.  

German pitched four innings giving up four hits and two runs with four strikeouts.  He lost his first game

of the spring.  Chad Green pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and a

strikeout, Darren O'Day pitched to one batter and got him out and Jonathan Loaisiga pitched a perfect 

inning and he struck out one.  Michael King pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Luis Gil 

pitched a perfect inning, striking out the side and Reggie McClain pitched an inning with a walk and 

two strikeouts.  

Jose Urena pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with five walks and three strikeouts.  Urena

won his second game of the spring.  Derek Holland pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck

out three, Jose Cisnero pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Buck Farmer pitched an inning

giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout.  Miguel Dan RBI and Aaron Hicks had a hit and drew a walk.

Stanton had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Ezequielel Pozo pitched an inning giving up a hit.  

Gleyber Torres drew a walk, Estrada had a hit and  Ezequial Duran had a hit.  Jay Bruce drew a walk,

Clint Frazier drew a walk and Stanton hit a double and Estrada hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 

1-5 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  

Victor Reyes had two hits, Daz Cameron drew a walk and Miguel Cabrera had two hits and three RBI.  

Harold Castro had a hit, Dustin Garneau drew a walk and Akil Baddoo had a hit and two RBI.  

Castro and Reyes each hit a double and Baddo and Cabrera each hit a homerun.  The Tigers were 1-7

with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Short had a stolen base and Ramos 

committed an error.  

In the first Stanton hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Baddoo hit a 

two-run homerun to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.  In the fifth Cabrera hit a three-run homerun to push the

Tigers lead to 5-1.  In the bottom of the eighth Estrada hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 5-2 but

that would be the final score.  

The Yankees will fly home to New York to begin the regular season on Thursday afternoon against

the Toronto Blue Jays.

New York Yankees double up the Philadelphia Phillies

 

The New York Yankees defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday.  The game took place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and the final score was 4-2.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched very well.  Giancarlo Stanton led the offense with two hits and two RBI. 

German pitched four innings giving up three hits and no runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  Michael King earned his second win of the spring pitching three innings and giving up two hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts.  Luis Garcia pitched an inning with a strikeout and Nestor Cortes pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts and he earned his first save of the spring. 

Chase Anderson pitched three innings giving up two hits and no runs with two walks and four strikeouts.  Archie Bradley pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run, Hector Neris pitched an inning with two strikeouts and Jose Alvarado pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout.  Hector Rondon pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and three runs with two walks and he took his first loss of the spring, Zach Warren pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Cristopher Sanchez pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out two. 

Andrew Velazquez drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and Aaron Hicks drew two walks.  Stanton had two hits and two RBI, Gleyber Torres had a hit and Rob Brantly had a hit and an RBI.  Mike Ford drew a walk, Gio Urshela had a hit and Armando Alvarez had a hit.  Gary Sanchez had a hit and an RBI, Greg Allen had a hit and drew a walk and the Yankees were 4-13 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Torres and Wells each had a stolen base. 

Andrew McCutchen had a hit, Rhys Hoskins had a hit and an RBI and Didi Gregorius had a hit.  Jean Segura had a hit and drew two walks, Luis Garcia had a hit and Luke Williams had a hit and an RBI.  Roman Quinn had a hit, he hit a double and Gregorius hit a double.  Hoskins hit a homerun and the Phillies were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Hoskins and Garcia each had a stolen base.  Moniak committed an error. 

In the fourth Sanchez hit an RBI single giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the sixth Hoskins hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the bottom of the seventh Stanton hit a two-run single to give the Yankees a 3-1 lead.  Brantly hit an RBI single and the lead was pushed to 4-1.  In the ninth Williams hit an RBI single cutting the lead to 4-2 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees have won six in a row and will play Detroit in Lakeland Tuesday afternoon.

New York Yankees sweep the doubleheader over the Detroit Tigers with game 2 victory


The New York Yankees defeated the Detroit Tigers in Game 2 of a doubleheader on Thursday evening.  The game took place at Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan and the final score was 6-4.  CC Sabathia started and pitched well and Domingo German pitched great following him.  DJ LeMahieu had three hits to lead the offense. 

Sabathia pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  German won his 18th game of the season pitching four innings giving up two hits and he struck out five, Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Aroldis Chapman pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and saved his 37th game of the season. 

Spencer Turnbull pitched five innings giving up seven hits and four runs with a walk and eight strikeouts and he lost his 15th game of the season.  Nick Ramirez pitched two innings giving up a hit and two walks with three strikeouts, Buck Farmer pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Gregory Soto pitched giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and he didn’t record an out.  John Schreiber pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

LeMahieu had three hits and an RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI.  Gleyber Torres had a hit, Gary Sanchez drew a walk and Luke Voit had a hit and drew a walk.  Mike Ford had a hit, Gio Urshela had a hit and two RBI and Tyler Wade had two hits and drew a walk.  LeMahieu and Wade each hit a double, Judge and Urshela each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Sanchez was caught stealing and Ford committed an error. 

Harold Castro had two hits, Jeimer Candelario drew a walk and Jordy Mercer had a hit.  Brandon Dixon had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Grayson Greiner had a hit and an RBI and John Hicks had a hit and an RBI.  Dixon hit a double and Greiner hit a triple.  The Tigers were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Dixon committed an error. 

In the first Judge hit a two-run homerun and the Yankees had a 2-0 lead.  In the second LeMahieu hit an RBI double to push the lead to 3-0.  In the fourth Dixon hit a two-run double to cut the lead to 3-2.  In the fifth Gregorius hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-2.  In the ninth Urshela hit a two-run homerun to make it 6-2.  In the bottom of the ninth Greiner hit an RBI triple and Hicks hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 6-4 but that would be the final score. 

The Yankees swept the doubleheader and took two out of three in the series.  They will head to Toronto to begin a three-game series on Friday night.

The New York Yankees defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers and take series


The New York Yankees defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday night.  The game took place at .  Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California and the final score was 5-1.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  The Yankees bullpen also pitched well and DJ LeMahieu and Mike Ford each had two hits. 

German won his major league leading 17th game of the season.  He pitched six innings giving up five hits and a run with two walks and five strikeouts.  Adam Ottavino pitched 2/3 of an inning with two strikeouts, Tommy Khanle pitched to one batter and struck him out and Zack Britton pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out three. 

Clayton Kershaw pitched seven innings giving up four hits and three runs with 12 strikeouts.  He lost his third game of the season.  Pedro Baez pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and Adam Kolarek pitched an inning giving up two hits and an unearned run. 

LeMahieu had two hits and a run RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and an RBI and Ford had two hits and two RBI.  Gleyber Torres drew a walk, Brett Gardner had a hit and Gio Urshela had a hit and an RBI.  Mike Tauchman had a hit, Ford hit a double and LeMahieu, Judge and Ford each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Tauchman had a stolen base. 

Joc Pederson had a hit and an RBI, Max Muncy had a hit and drew a walk and Justin Turner had a hit.  Cody Bellinger drew a walk, Corey Seager drew a walk and Chris Taylor had a hit.  Austin Barnes had a hit, Muncy, Barnes and Taylor each hit a double.  Pederson hit a homerun and the Dodgers were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Pederson was caught stealing and Barnes and Kolarek each committed an error. 

In the first LeMahieu hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Pederson hit a solo homerun tying the game at one.  In the third Judge hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead.  In the sixth Ford hit a solo homerun to push the Yankees lead to 3-1.  In the eighth Ford hit an RBI double making it 4-1 and in the ninth Urshela hit an RBI single to extend the Yankees lead to 5-1 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees took two out of three to win the series and will head to Seattle for a three-game series that begins on Monday night.

New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles

The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 8-3.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Gio Urshela and Austin Romine each had three hits to lead the offense. 
German won his 16th game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up five hits and two runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Adonis Rosa pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts. 
John Means pitched 3 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and six runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Means lost his eighth game of the season.  Miguel Castro pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run and Chandler Shepherd pitched four innings giving up five hits and a run with three walks and two strikeouts. 
DJ LeMahieu had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Aaron Judge had a hit and two RBI and Urshela had three hits and an RBI.  Gary Sanchez had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit and drew a walk and Didi Gregorius had a hit.  Cameron Maybin had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Romine had three hits and Mike Tauchman had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Gregorius, Judge, Sanchez, Tauchman and Urshela each hit a double and LeMahieu hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 6-14 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base. 
Anthony Santander had a hit and an RBI, Renato Nunez had a hit and an RBI and Jace Peterson had a hit.  Hanser Alberto had a hit, Stevie Wilkerson had a hit and an RBI and Rio Ruiz had a hit and drew a walk.  Alberto, Ruiz and Peterson each hit a double and Santander, Wilkerson and Nunez each hit a homerun. The Orioles were 0-6 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.   Peterson had an outfield assist. 
In the first LeMahieu hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Maybin hit a two-run single to give the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the fourth Santander hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the bottom of the fourth Judge hit a two-run double to push the lead to 5-1.  Urshela hit an RBI single to make it a 6-1 game and Sanchez hit an RBI double to increase the lead to 7-1.  In the fifth Wilkerson hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 7-2.  In the bottom of the fifth Tauchman hit an RBI double to push the lead to 8-2.  In the ninth Nunez hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 8-3 and that would be the final score. 
The two teams will play the fourth and final game on Wednesday afternoon.  The Yankees will be looking for the four game sweep.

New York Yankees salvage final game of series in Boston


The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Sunday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 9-6.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched well.  Edwin Encarnacion, Gio Urshela and Cameron Maybin each had two hits to lead the offense. 

German pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and nine strikeouts.  German won his 13th game of the season.  Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts, Adam Ottavino pitched 2/3 of an inning givin gup two hits and Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks with a strikeout.  Aroldis Chapman pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs with one of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out two. 

Chris Sale pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and six runs with three walks and seven strikeouts and he took his tenth loss of the season.  Colten Brewer pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Darwinzon Hernandez pitched an inning giving up a hit and two unearned runs with two walks and two strikeouts and Marcus Walden pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk.  Heath Hembree pitched an inning. 

Aaron Hicks drew two walks, Encarnacion had two hits and Luke Voit drew two walks.  Didi Gregorius had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk, Urshela had two hits and an RBI and Maybin had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Austin Romine had a hit and two RBI, Urshela hit two doubles and Encarnacion and Maybin each hit a double.  Romine and Gregorius each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Maybin was picked off and Torres and Gregorius each committed an error.  Romine had a passed ball. 

Mookie Betts had an RBI and drew a walk, Rafael Devers had a hit and drew a walk and Xander Bogaerts had three hits.  J.D. Martinez had an RBI and drew a walk, Andrew Benintendi had three hits and four RBI and Mitch Moreland had a hit.  Sam Travis drew a walk, Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit and Christian Vasquez had a hit.  Bogaerts and Devers each hit a double and Benintendi hit a homerun.  The Red Sox were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Devers, Bradley Jr. and Holt each committed an error.  Brewer had a pickoff. 

In the third Romine hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Gregorius hit a two-run homerun to push the Yankees lead to 4-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Benintendi hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the sixth Urshela hit an RBI double to push the lead to 5-2 and Maybin hit an RBI single making it 6-2.  In the sixth Martinez hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 6-3.  In the seventh Gregorius hit a sac fly and a run scored on an error to make it 8-3.  In the bottom of the seventh Betts hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 8-4.  In the eighth a wild pitch made it 9-4 and Benintendi hit a two-run single in the ninth to cut the lead to 9-6 but that would be the final score. 
The Yankees were able to salvage one of the four games and will be off on Monday before beginning a brief two-game set at home with the Arizona Dia

New York Yankees shutout the Toronto Blue Jays


The New York Yankees defeated the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 4-0.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched great.  The Yankees bullpen shut it down for the final three innings and Edwin Encarnacion had the big blow to lead the offense. 

German pitched six innings giving up three hits and no runs.  He walked none and struck out seven and earned his 11th win of the season.  Tommy Khanle pitched an inning giving up two hits and no runs with no walks or strikeouts and Chad Green pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out three. 

Aaron Sanchez lost his 13th game of the season pitching five innings giving up seven hits and four runs.  He walked two and struck out two.  Sam Gaviglio pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out two and Justin Shafer pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

DJ LeMahieu had an RBI, Aaron Judge had a hit and drew a walk and Aaron Hicks had two hits.  Gary Sanchez had a hit, Encarnacion had two hits and three RBI and Gleyber Torres had two hits and drew a walk.  Brett Gardner had two hits, Sanchez, Hicks, Encarnacion, Gardner and Torres each hit a double.  Gardner hit a triple and the Yankees were 1-12 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Hicks was caught stealing and Gardner had an outfield assist. 

Eric Sogard had two hits, Freddy Galvis had a hit and Cavin Biggio had a hit.  Vlad Guerrero Jr. had a hit, Danny Jansen had a hit and the Blue Jays were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Jansen committed an error. 

In the fifth LeMahieu hit an RBI ground out to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  Encarnacion hit a three-run double and the lead was pushed to 4-0 and that would be the final score.

New York Yankees lose to the Cleveland Indians


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Cleveland Indians on Friday night.  The game took place at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio and the final score was 5-2.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he was just ok.  Didi Gregorius and Clint Frazier each had two hits to lead the Yankees offense. 

German pitched six innings giving up six hits and four runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  German lost his second game of the season.  David Hale pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Zach Plesac pitched seven innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Plesac won his first game of the season.  Nick Wittgren pitched a perfect inning and Brad Hand recorded his 19th save of the season pitching a perfect inning with three strikeouts. 

Aaron Hicks had a hit and an RBI, Gary Sanchez had a hit and Gregorius had two hits.  Kendrys Morales drew a walk, Frazier had two hits and an RBI and Frazier hit a double.  Hicks hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. 

Francisco Lindor had a hit, Oscar Mercado had two hits and Carlos Santana had a hit, two RBI and drew two walks.  Jason Kipnis had two hits and two RBI, Tyler Naquin had a hit and an RBI.  Lindor hit a triple and Naquin and Santana each hit a homerun.  The Indians were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Kipnis was caught stealing and Naquin had an outfield assist. 

In the second Frazier hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Hicks hit a solo homerun to push the Yankees lead to 2-0.  In the fourth Kipnis hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the fifth Naquin hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the sixth Santana hit a two-run homerun to give the Indians a 4-2 lead.  In the eighth Kipnis hit a sac fly to make it 5-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday afternoon.

New York Yankees fail to sweep the road trip with extra innings loss in Kansas City


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Kansas City Royals on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Kaufmann Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri and the final score was 8-7 in 10 innings.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he was roughed up.  Nestor Cortes Jr. ate up some innings out of the bullpen and Clint Frazier had three hits to lead the offense. 

German pitched five innings giving up nine hits and seven runs with six strikeouts.  Cortes Jr. pitched four innings giving up four hits and he walked two with four strikeouts and Jonathan Holder took his second loss of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning and giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Danny Duffy pitched six innings giving up five hits and four runs with one being earned.  He walked one and struck out four.  Wily Peralta pitched an inning giving up two hits, Jake Diekman pitched an inning with a walk and two strikeouts and Ian Kennedy pitched an inning giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Kevin McCarthy pitched an inning and he gave up a walk and won his first game of the season.

Nicky Lopez drew a walk, Whit Merrifield had a hit and an RBI and Adalberto Mondesi had a hit.  Alex Gordon had a hit, Huner Dozier had four hits and two RBI and Jorge Soler had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Ryan O’Hearn had two hits and an RBI, Martin Maldonado had two hits and three RBI and Billy Hamilton had a hit and drew a walk.  Mondesi hit a double and Soler, O’Hearn, Dozier and Maldonado each hit a homerun.  The Royals were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.  Hamilton had a stolen base and Mondesi committed an error. 

In the second Frazier hit an RBI single to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the second Maldonado hit a three-run homerun giving the Royals a 3-1 lead.  In the fourth O’Hearn hit a solo homerun to extend the lead to 4-1.  In the fifth Dozier hit a two-run homerun to increase the lead to 6-1.  Soler hit a solo homerun and it was 7-1 Royals.  In the sixth Torres hit a three-run homerun to cut the lead to 7-4.  In the ninth LeMahieu hit an RBI single and Hicks hit a two-run single to tie the game at seven.  In the bottom of the tenth Merrifield hit an RBI walk-off single to give the Royals the 8-7 victory. 

The Yankees had won their first six games of this seven-game road trip and they won the first two games of this three game series.  The Yankees will return home on Monday after a 6-1 road trip to take on the San Diego Padres.

New York Yankees sweep the doubleheader with a 3-1 victory


The New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles in Game 2 of the doubleheader.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-1.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he pitched great and the bullpen pitched two good innings.  Luke Voit led the offense with three hits and two RBI. 

German pitched seven innings giving up six hits and a run with a walk and eight strikeouts.  German won his eighth game of the season which is the most in the majors.  Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Aroldis Chapman earned his 11th save of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Andrew Cashner pitched six innings giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Cashner lost his second game of the season.  Shawn Armstrong pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with two strikeouts, Miguel Castro pitched to one batter and struck him out and Paul Fry pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, Voit had three hits and two RBI and Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI.  Kendrys Morales had a hit and drew two walks, Thairo Estrada had a hit and Estrada and Voit each hit a double.  Torres hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Gardner was caught stealing and picked off.  Tauchman committed an error. 

Jonathan Villar had two hits, Chris Davis had a hit and Stevie Wilkerson had a hit.  Rio Ruiz had two hits, Hanser Alberto had an RBI and Pedro Severino drew a walk.  Joey Rickard had a hit which was a double and the Orioles were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Villar was caught stealing and Rickard committed an error and Fry had a pickoff. 

In the third Voit hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Torres hit a solo homerun to push their lead to 2-0.  In the fifth Alberto hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 2-1 and in the seventh Voit hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-1 and that would be the final score. 

The Yankees swept the doubleheader and the brief two-game series.  They will be off on Thursday and will begin a three-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night at home.

New York Yankees defeat the Tampa Bay Rays


The New York Yankees defeated the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night.  The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida and the final score was 4-3.  Domingo German pitched well and the bullpen was great for the Yankees.  Gio Urshela had a huge two-run single and Gary Sanchez had a couple of hits to lead the offense. 

German pitched five innings giving up five hits and three runs.  He walked two and struck out five and earned his seventh win of the season.  Tommy Khanle pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts, Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit and two walks and he struck out one and Zack Britton pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Aroldis Chapman saved his ninth game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and striking out two. 

Tyler Glasnow pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with three being earned.  He walked two and struck out nine, Emilio Pagan pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and Adam Kolarek pitched to one batter and got him out.  Casey Sadler pitched three innings with two strikeouts. 

Luke Voit drew a walk, Sanchez had two hits and Clint Frazier had a hit.  Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI, Miguel Andujar had a hit and Urshela had a hit and two RBI.  Cameron Maybin had a hit and drew a walk, Maybin hit a double and the Yankees were 4-15 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Maybin had a stolen base and was caught stealing. 

Austin Meadows had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Ji-Man Choi had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Yandy Diaz had a hit.  Avisail Garcia had a hit, Willy Adames had a hit and drew two walks and Nick Ciuffo had a hit.  Guillermo Heredia had a hit, Meadows and Adames each hit a double and Meadows and Choi each hit a homerun.  The Rays were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Sadler and Diaz each committed an error.  Ciuffo had a passed ball. 

In the first a passed ball gave the Yankees a 1-0 lead and Torres hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the fifth Meadows hit a two-run homerun to tie the game at two.  Choi hit a solo homerun and the Rays had a 3-2 lead.  In the sixth Urshela hit a two-run single to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead and that would be the final score of the game.
