Hughes looks great in Extended Spring

The Yankees were off today and their wasn't much news. Phil Hughes did make a start down in Tampa in extended spring training though. He pithced 8 1/3 innings allowing 3 hits, 0 runs and had 12 strikeouts. That is very impressive although it was in extended spring. I feel really good about him as the 5th starter and think he may give them double digit wins. I think this is the year he really shows his potential and then stays in the rotation for good. He will be rejoining the team before pitching another extended spring game when the team is in Tampa this coming weekend. The Pitching Matchups for the rest of the series in Boston are: Tommorrow-A.J. Burnett vs Jon Lester Wednesday-Andy Pettitte vs John Lackey The Yankees will try to even up the series tomorrow. The games are at 7:00PM and on the yes network and wcbs radio 880AM.

Mets lose to Nats

The New York Mets lost to the Washington Nationals this afternoon by the score of 7-5. Mike Pelfrey started for the Mets and wasn't too good. He pitched 4 2/3 innings and gave up 7 hits, 6 runs, 5 of them were earned. He also had 1 walk and 3 strikeouts, he gave up 4 homeruns. Jenrry Mejia pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up 1 hit, 0 runs and 1 walk. Ryota Igarashi pitched 1 inning giving up 2 hits, 1 run and 2 walks. Bobby Parnell pitched 1 inning giving up 2 hits, 0 runs and 0 walks or strikeouts. Chris Carter led the offense again going 3-5, Ruben Tejada and Jeff Francouer each had a hit. Russ Adams had a hit and Henry Blanco had 2 hits and a rbi. The Mets will take on the Braves at Tradition Field tomorrow at 1:10PM, the game is on SNY and ESPN. The buzz today on talk radio here in NY was that Daniel Murphy has won the job at first base and Mike Jacobs feels he is the better player. Jacobs has better numbers in the spring and more experience but the Mets appear committed to having Murphy start.

Roger Clemens still denying

Roger Clemens was on the Mike and Mike show this morning on ESPN radio and continued to deny using PEDS. I wonder if this guy has lied so much that he believes his lies now?? I will get more into this later on but he still says Andy Pettitte misremembers their conversations and that there is no way Brian McNamee has his dna because he never gave him HGH or steroids, that is pretty funny Roger. The reason he broke his silence is because a book about him came out today.

Yankees vs Indians

The Yankees will try and get a split of this four game series. The Yankees have opened the New Stadium going 1-2 which isn't very good. The game yesterday was a complete embarrassment but Wang is just killing the Yankees not only by getting bombed but also by not going more then a couple of innings in any of his games. Carl Pavano aka American Idle will be on the mound today against the Yankees and they need to knock him around to show how much we appreciated his time in New York. The Yankees called up Steven Jackson and it looks like Anthony Claggett is the one that will be sent back to Scranton, I wonder if Joe Girardi is regretting his decision now to not carry a long reliever. Here is the lineup for the Yankees: Gardner(cf) Jeter(ss) Damon(lf) Teixera(1b) Swisher(rf) Cano(2b) Matsui(dh) Ransom(3b) Molina(c) The game is on the Yes network at 1:00pm and also on Wcbs radio 880 NY. Enjoy the game and your Sunday everyone. I will be back with more information later on if there is any regarding roster moves and also Chien-Ming Wang.

Spring Game 11: Braves at Yankees

The linups are posted below with a lot of other information courtesy of Peter Abraham. CC looked good yesterday, Wang gets his second start today and AJ his first tomorrow followed by Andy Pettittes first start. Hideki Matsui will play today then take the trip to Lakeland to play the tigers which will be his first back to back games, the reason Jorge and Hideki can't be in the same lineup right now is that they both are dhing, look for Posada to start catching in about a week or so. I don't know why Cody Ransom is at short today, i think I would play him at third every game but im not the manager. Melky gets a chance today in CF but I think Gardner pretty much has the job wrapped up. Phil Coke will also pitch today, the game will be on the YES network at 1:00pm and also wcbs 880 radio in NY. I don't understand why the TV and radio are carrying the same games myself but it is only spring training and for anyone complaining just check out this blog as well as others for all the information you need. Everyone enjoy the game, I will be out but will post later on about the game, it will also replay at 7 for anyone who is going to miss it this afternoon.
