New York Mets Recap

The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves by a score of 12-1 today. John Maine got the start and got rocked, I wonder if the Mets are starting to worry about him. He threw 4 innings giving up 5 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks. Nelson Figueroa also had a rough day going 1 inning giving up 5 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks. Ron Villone pitched 1 inning giving up 2 runs on 3 hits. Bobby Kielty had the best day for the offense going 3-4 with a rbi, Nick Evans was 1-4. Ryan Church was 2-3. Daniel Murphy was 0-3.

New York Mets Recap

The New York Mets defeated the Baltimore Orioles today 9-8. Brandon Knight got the start in place of the injured Mike Pelfrey and went 2 innings giving up 4 hits and 3 runs with 1 strikeout. Brian Stokes went 1 perfect inning. Casey Fossum went 1 2/3 innings giving up 3 runs on 3 hits with 3k's. On the offensive side Luis Castillo went 1-2 with a walk and 2rbi. Nick Evans had a pinch hit grand slam. Daniel Murphy went 2-3 and Ryan Church had 2 walks. The Mets will play the Washington Nationals away tomorrow with John Maine to start. Luis Castillo has looked good so far for the Mets and they got more good news with Johan Santana appearing to be ready to get into a game this week and on his way towards opening day. The Mets main question now is how severe is Mike Pelfreys injury and who will win the fifth starter job as no one is running away with it, they are all struggling right now.

New York Mets Recap

The New York Mets were defeated by the Washington Nationals today by a score of 7-5. Gee pitched 2 hitless innings with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts. Sean Green went 1 inning giving up 1 run on 2 hits and 1 walk, 1 strikeout. On the offensive side Daniel Murphy went 2-3 with 2 walks. Nick Evans went 1-5, Bobby Kielty went 2-3. Johan Santana threw before the game and said he felt fine, no problems and he should get into a game soon and be in line to go opening day. In other news though Mike Pelfrey apparently strained his leg and you are hearing the injury is anywhere from a bug bite to a fracture, if he is hurt bad and will miss significant time this is a big blow to the Mets who I feel don't have great starting pitching as it is other then Johan, they don't know how John Maine is going to bounce back and Ollie Perez is up and down and who knows what the fifth starter will give them. The Mets will play a split squad tomorrow, one of the games against the Nationals away and the other at home against the Michigan Wolverines.
