The New York Mets lose second in a row at home



The New York Mets were defeated by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night.  Bartolo Colon started for the Mets and ptiched well and the bullpen was pretty good.  Neil Walker led the offense with a couple of hits. 

Colon pitched seven innings giving up seven hits and a run with a walk and eight strikeouts.  Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout, Erik Goeddel pitched to one batter and retired him but he did walk a batter.  Jon Niese pitched two two batters and retired them both, Jeurys Familia pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out three, Jerry Blevins lost his second game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a run and he lost his second game of the season. 

Robbie Ray pitched seven innings giving up three hits and he struck out four.  Enrique Burgos pitched a perfect inning, Jake Barreett pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Adam Loewen pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit.  Daniel Hudson pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit, Steve Hathaway pitched 2/3 of an inning.  Randall Delgado won his third game of the season pitching two innings and he struck out two. 

Ty Kelly had a hit, Kelly Johnson had a hit and two RBI and Walker had two hits.  Jay Bruce had a hit, T.J. Rivera had a hit and Alejandro De Aza drew a walk.  Johnson hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  d'Arnaud committed an error. 

Jean Segura had three hits and drew a walk, Michael Bourn had two hits and Paul godschmidt had two hits and two RBI.  Chris Owings had three hits, Oscar Hernandez had a hit and an RBI and Segura hit two doubles.  Owins and Goldschmidt each hit a double.  Hernandez hit a homerun and the Diamondbacks were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Segura had two stolen bases and Owings and Bourn each had a stolen base.  Segura was caught stealing and Goldschmidt.  Hernandez had a passed ball. 

In the third Goldschmidt hit an RBI single giving the Diamondbacks a 1-0 lead.  In the eighth Goldschmidt hit a sac fly to make it 2-0.  Johnson hit a two run homerun in the ninth to tie the game at two.  In the 12th Hernandez hit a solo homerun giving the Diamondbacks a 3-2 lead and that would be the final score.   

New York Yankees win second in a row in Boston



The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Thursday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 4-2.  Michael Pineda started for the Yankees and he pitched well and the bullpen did their job.  Jacoby Ellsbury had two RBI and Aaron Hicks had two hits to lead the offense. 

Pineda pitched six innings giving up eight hits and two runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Luis Cessa earned his second win of the season pitching two innings and striking out two and Dellin Betances saved his third game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts. 

Eduardo Rodriguez pitched seven innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and six strikeouts.  Brad Ziegler pitched an inning giving up four hits and three runs with a walk and two strikeouts and he lost his sixth game of the season.  Matt Barnes pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Ellsbury had a hit and two RBIand Chase Headley drew a walk.  Alex Rodriguez had an RBI, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Gary Sanchez had a hit.  Austin Romine had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Hicks had two hits and Ellsbury hit a double.  Romine hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

Dustin Pedroia had a hit, Xander Bogaerts had a hit and David Ortiz had a hit and drew a walk.  Hanley Ramirez had two hits and two RBI, Jackie Bradley Jr. drew a walk and Brock Holt had a hit.  Sandy Leon had three hits, Andrew Benintendi drew a walk and Ortiz, Pedroia and Ramirez each hit a double.  Leon hit two doubles and the Red Sox were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

In the first Ramirez hit an RBI single to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the third Romine hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the fifth Ramirez hit an RBI double giving the Red Sox a 2-1 lead.  Ellsbury hit a two run double in the eighth and the Yankees had a 3-2 lead.  Rodriguez hit an RBI groundout in the eighth to give them a 4-2 lead and that would be the final score.   

New York Yankees erupt in Boston for a big win



The New York Yankees defeated the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 9-4.  Nathan Eovaldi started for the Yankees but left after one inning with elbow pain.  The Yankees used a lot of pitchers and the bullpen did a good job.  Gary Sanchez led the offense with four hits including his first major league homerun. 

Eovaldi pitched a perfect inning, Chasen Shreve pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and Blake Parker pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk.  Nick Goody pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he walked two, Tommy Layne pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Tyler Clippard pitched an inning giving up three hits and a walk.  Clippard won his third game of the season.  Adam Warren pitched two perfect innings with a couple of strikeouts and Dellin Betances pitched an inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Drew Pomeranz pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up six hits and a run with a walk and five strikeouts.  Clay Bucholz pitched to two batters and retired them both, Matt Barnes pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs and Fernando Abad pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two htis and two runs with a strikeout.  He lost his sixth game of the season.  Junichi Tazawa pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with two walks, Robbie Ross Jr. pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout.   Brad Ziegler pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Brett Gardner had a hit, Jacoby Ellsbury had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Chase Headley had two hits and an RBI.  Mark Teixeira had a hit and drew two walks, Starlin Castro had a hit and two RBI adn Didi Gregorius had two hits and an RBI.  Sanchez had four hits and an RBI, Austin Romine had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Rob Refsnyder had a hit, Castro hit a double and Gregorius and Sanchez each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-15 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Ellsbury had an outfield assist. 

Dustin Pedroia had two hits and an RBI, Xander Bogaerts had an RBI and drew a walk and Mookie Betts had two hits and an RBI.  David Ortiz drew three walks, Jackie Bradley Jr. had two hits and Travis Shaw drew a walk.  Sandy Leon had two hits and drew a walk, Andrew Benintendi had a hit and an RBI and Pedroia hit a double and Betts hit two doubles.  The Red Sox were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. 

In the third Betts grounded into a force out to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Benintendi grounded into a force out and it was 2-0 Red Sox.  Gregorius hit a solo homerun in the fifth to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the sixth Pedroia hit an RBI single to push the Red Sox lead to 3-1.  Bogaerts grounded into a force out in the sixth to make the score 4-1.  In the seventh Romine hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-2.  Ellsbury hit an RBI single in the seventh making it 4-3 and Headley hit an RBI single to tie the game at four.  Castro hit a two run double still in the seventh and it was 6-4 Yankees.  In the eighth Sanchez hit a solo homerun to push the Yankees lead to 7-4.  A wild pitch made it 8-4 and another wild pitch made it 9-4 all in the eighth inning. 

The two teams have split the first two games and will play the final of three games on Thursday night.

New York Mets drop series opener to the Arizona Diamdonbacks



The New York Mets were defeated by the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-3.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched well and Hansel Robles struggled out of the pen.  Neil Walker led the offense with three hits. 

Matz pitched six innings giving up five hits and two runs.  He walked one and struck out nine.  Robles pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up three hits and three runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  He lost his fourth game of the season.  Josh Edgin pitched 2/3 of an inning and had a strikeout and Erik Goeddel pitched 1 2/3 innings striking out one. 

Zack Greinke pitched six innings giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and six strikeouts.  He won his 11th game of the season.  Randall Delgado pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Enrique Burgos pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Jake Barrett pitched an inning with a walk and he saved his fourth game of the season. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit, Walker had three hits and two RBI and Jay Bruce had a hit and drew a walk.  James Loney had an RBI, Michael Conforto drew a walk and Matt Reynolds had a hit.  Granderson hit a double and Walker hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left four  men on base.  Reynolds was caught stealng and Wilmer Flores committed an error. 

Jean Segura had a hit, Michael Bourn had a hit and two RBI, Paul Goldschmidt had two hits and two RBI.  Rickie Weeks Jr. drew two walks, Brandon Drury had two hits and an RBI and Chris Owings had a hit.  Tuffy Gosewisch had a hit.  Phil Gosselin drew a walk, Owins hit a double and Bourn hit a triple.  Drury and Goldschmidt each hit a homerun.  The Diamondbacks were 2-11 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Segura, Bourn, Weeks Jr., Owings and Gosselin each had a stolen base.  Bourn committed an error. 

In the first Loney hit an RBI groundout to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Int eh second Drury hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  Goldschmidt hit a solo homerun in the sixth to give the Dbacks a 2-1 lead.  Walker hit a two run homerun in the sixth to make it a 3-2 game.  In the seventh Bpourn hit a two run triple to give the Dbacks a 4-3 lead.  Goldschmidt hit an RBI single in the seventh to make it 5-3. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night. 

New York Yankees lose in Boston as tempers flare



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts and the final score was 5-3.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and he didn't pitch very well but the bullpen did.  Brett Gardner had three hits and Chase Headley had two hits. 

Severino pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and five runs.  He didn't walk a batter and he struck out three and lost his seventh game of the season.  Tommy Layne pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out one, Anthony Swarzak pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Chasen Shreve pitched to one batter and retired him. 

Rick Porcello won his 15th game of the season pitching eight innings and he gave up seven hits and two runs.  He walked one and struck out six.  Craig Kimbrel pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a run and four walks with a strikeout and Matt Barnes pitched 1/3 of an inning and struck out a batter. 

Gardner had three hits and drew a walk, Jacboy Ellsbury had an RBI and drew two walks and Brian McCann had a hit and an RBI.  Starlin Castro had a hit, Headley had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Aaron Hicks drew a walk.  Castro hit a double and Headley and Gardner hit two doubles each.  The Yankees were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. 

Mookie Betts had a hit, Dustin Pedroia had two hits and three RBI and David Ortiz had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Jackie Bradley Jr. had a hit, Sandy Leon had a hit and Andrew Benintendi had three hits and an RBI.  Betts, and Benintendi each hit a double and Pedroia hit two doubles.  Leon hit a triple and the Red Sox were 4-7 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Shaw committed an error and Leon had a passed ball.  Bradley Jr. had an outfield assist. 

In the second Headley hit an RBI double, in the third McCann hit an RBI single and it was 2-0 Yankees.  Pedroia hit a two run double in the bottom of the third to tie the game at two.  In the bottom of the fifth Benintendi hit an RBI double to give the Red Sox a 3-2 lead.  Pedroia hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 4-2.  In the fifth Ortiz hit an RBI single to push the lead to 5-2.  In the ninth Ellsbury had an RBI walk to cut the lead to 5-3 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Wednesday night.
