New York Yankees pitching gets lit up in a offensive showdown


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas and the final score was 12-10.  CC Sabathia started and he pitched horrible.  The Yankees bullpen didn’t do that much better.  The offense was great hitting four more homeruns. 

Sabathia pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up six hits and seven runs.  He walked three and struck out one.  Jonathan Holder pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one, Chasen Shreve pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout and David Robertson lost his second game of the season pitching 2/3 of an inning and giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  Dellin Betances pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with four strikeouts. 

Doug Fister pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up 11 hits and eight runs with six of them being earned.  He walked one and struck out two.  Tony Barnette pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and two runs with a strikeout, Alex Claudio pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he struck out three and earned his second win of the season and Jose Leclerc pitched to one batter and retired him.  Chris Martin pitched a perfect inning and Keone Kela pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts and earned his 10th save of the season. 

Brett Gardner had two hits, Aaron Judge had two hits and two RBI and Didi Gregorius had a hit and two RBI.  Giancarlo Stanton had a hit, Aaron Hicks had two hits and Neil Walker had two hits and an RBI.  Miguel Andujar had two hits, Austin Romine had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk and Gleyber Torres had a hit and three RBI.  Gardner hit two doubles, Andujar hit a double and Gregorius, Walker, Torres and Judge each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-11 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Betances committed an error. 

Delino DeShields had a hit, Shin-Soo Choo had two hits and drew two walks and Isiah Kiner-Falefa had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk.  Nomar Mazara had two hits and three RBI, Jurickson Profar had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk and Ryan Rua drew a walk.  Ronald Guzman had two hits and three RBI, Profar hit a double and Kiner-Falefa hit a triple.  Mazara and Guzman hit a homerun and the Rangers were 4-12 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Choo, DeShields and Kiner-Falefa each had a stolen base.  Profar and Odor each committed an error. 

In the first Gregorius hit a two-run homerun and Romine drew an RBI walk giving the Yankees a 3-0 lead.  In the third Walker hit a solo homerun to make it 4-0.  In the bottom of the fourth Mazara hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead in half.  Guzman hit a three-run homerun to give Texas a 5-4 lead.  In the fifth Romine hit an RBI single to tie the game at five and Torres hit a three-run homerun to give the Yankees back the lead at 8-5.  Judge hit a two-run homerun and it was 10-5 Yankees.  In the bottom of the fifth Kiner-Falefa hit an RBI triple to cut the lead to 10-6 and Mazera hit an RBI single to make it a 10-7 game.  In the sixth Kiner-Falefa drew an RBI walk and Profar hit a three-run double to give the Rangers a 11-10 lead.  In the eighth Kiner-Falefa hit an RBI single and it was 12-10 Rangers which would be the final score. 

The Yankees lost their first series in nine after winning their last eight.  They lost two out of three and after an off day on Thursday they will be home to host the Angels for three and then the Astros for three.   

New York Yankees lose in Texas to even the series


The New York Yankees were defeated by the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas and the final score was 6-4.  Domingo German started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch well.  The bullpen pitched well and kept them in the game.  Gleyber Torres led the offense with two hits. 

German lost his second game of the season pitching 3 2/3 innings giving up four hits and six runs.  He walked three and struck out six.  A.J. Cle pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three walks and he struck out three, Chasen Shreve pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two walks and he struck out two and Giovanny Gallegos pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out one. 

Cole Hamels won his third game of the season pitching seven innings and giving up four hits and two runs with two walks and seven strikeouts.  Jake Diekman pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout and Keone Kela pitched a perfect inning to earn his ninth save of the season. 

Aaron Hicks had a hit, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and Gary Sanchez drew two walks.  Austin Romine had a hit and two RBI, Didi Gregorius had a hit and Miguel Andujar had a hit and an RBI.  Torres had two hits and an RBI, Torres, Andujar and Romine each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Cole had a pickoff. 

Shin-Soo Choo drew two walks, Isiah Kiner-Falefa had two hits and drew two walks and Nomar Mazara had an RBI and drew two walks.  Jurickson Profar had a hit and three RBI, Roughned Odor had a hit and drew a walk and Ronald Guzman had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Profar and Guzman each hit a homerun.  The Rangers were 1-10 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base.  Odor was caught stealing. 

In the first Profar hit a three-run homerun giving the Rangers a 3-0 lead.  In the second a wild pitch made it 4-0.  Mazara hit an RBI ground out and it was 5-0 Rangers.  In the third Torres hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 5-1.  In the fourth Guzman hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 6-1.  In the seventh Andujar hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 6-2.  In the eighth Romine hit a two-run homerun and it was 6-4 but that would be the final score. 

The two teams have split the first two games of the series and will play the third and deciding game on Wednesday night.   

New York Yankees defeat the Texas Rangers


The New York Yankees defeated the Texas Rangers on Monday night.  The game took place at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas and the final score was 10-5.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he didn’t pitch great but he also didn’t pitch terribly.  Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, Neil Walker and Gleyber Torres each had two hits. 

Tanaka pitched five innings giving up three hits and four runs with four walks and three strikeouts.  Tanaka won his fifth game of the season.  Chad Green pitched two innings giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, David Robertson pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout and Jonathan Holder pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Bartolo Colon lost his second game of the season pitching 5 1/3 innings and he gave up eight hits and six runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Matt Bush pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts and Jesse Chavez pitched two innings giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and two strikeouts. 

Brett Gardner had a hit and drew two walks, Judge had two hits and an RBI and Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and an RBI.  Didi Gregorius had a hit and an RBI, Sanchez had two hits and Aaron Hicks had a hit, two RBI and drew a walk.  Walker had two hits and two RBI and Torres had two hits and three RBI.  Gardner, Walker, Judge, Gregorius and Sanchez each hit a double.  Torres hit two homeruns, Walker, Judge and Hicks each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 4-12 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Gardner had a stolen base and Sanchez committed an error. 

Shin-Soo Choo had a hit and drew a walk, Nomar Mazara drew two walks and Jurickson Profar had a hit and drew a walk.  Joey Gallo had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Roughned Odor had a hit and three RBI and Ronald Guzman had a hit and an RBI.  Profar hit a double and Gallo, Odor and Guzman each hit a homerun.  The Rangers were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Kiner-Falefa and Profar each had a stolen base and Guzman committed an error. 

In the second Walker hit an RBI double to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  Torres hit a two-run homerun and it was 3-0 Yankees.  In the second Gallo hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the fourth Walker hit a solo homerun to extend the Yankees lead to 4-1.  In the bottom of the fourth Odor hit a three-run homerun to tie the score at 4-4.  In the fifth Judge hit a solo homerun to give the Yankees back the lead at 5-4.  In the sixth Torres hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 6-4.  Stanton hit a sac fly and Gregorius hit an RBI double to increase the lead to 8-4.  In the bottom of the seventh Guzman hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 8-5.  In the ninth Hicks hit a two-run homerun making it 10-5 and that would be the final score.

New York Mets blow the game and lose to the Miami Marlins in the ninth


The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 2-1.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched great, Jeurys Familia blew the game.  Brandon Nimmo and Adrian Gonzalez each had two hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up four hits and no runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  Seth Lugo pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Familia pitched an inning giving up four hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and he blew his fourth save of the season.  Familia took his second loss of the season as well. 

Dan Straily pitched six innings giving up four hits and a run with three walks and five strikeouts.  Nick Wittgren pitched a perfect inning, Adam Conley won his first game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and he struck out one and Brad Ziegler saved his ninth game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit. 

Nimmo had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Michael Conforto drew a walk and Jay Bruce had a hit.  Gonzalez had two hits and drew a walk, Amed Rosario had a hit and Nimmo hit a homerun.  The Mets were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Rosario was caught stealing and Cabrera committed an error and Conforto had an outfield assist. 

Derek Dietrich had a hit, J.T. Realmuto had two hits and an RBI and Justin Bour had a hit and drew a walk.  Starlin Castro had a hit and an RBI, Brian Anderson had two hits and Miguel Rojas drew two walks.  Lewis Brinson had a hit, Martin Prado had a hit and Dietrich hit a double.  The Marlins were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base. 

In the fifth Nimmo hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the ninth Realmuto hit an RBI single and Castro hit an RBI single to give the Marlins a 2-1 lead and that was the final score.  

The Mets lost two out of three in the series and will now head to Milwaukee.   

New York Mets lose to the Marlins to even their series


The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-1.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and he pitched well.  The Mets offense only managed four hits. 

Wheeler pitched six innings giving up seven hits and three runs with only one being earned.  He walked none and struck out nine and lost his fourth game of the season.  Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout, AJ Ramos pitched an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout and Jacob Rhame pitched a perfect inning. 

Caleb Smith won his third game of the season pitching 6 2/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with two walks and eight strikeouts.  Drew Steckenrider pitched to one batter and retired him, Kyle Barraclough pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk and Brad Ziegler pitched a perfect inning. 

Brandon Nimmo drew a walk, Wilmer Flores drew a walk and Jose Bautista had a hit.  Jose Reyes had a hit and drew a walk, Tomas Nido had an RBI and Wheeler had a hit.  Gonzalez had a hit, Bautista and Gonzalez each hit a double.  The Mets were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Reyes committed two errors. 

J.T. Realmuto had three hits and two RBI, Justin Bour had a hit and drew a walk and Starlin Castro had a hit.  Brian Anderson had a hit and drew a walk, Derek Dietrich had two hits and two RBI and Miguel Rojas had a hit and an RBI.  Anderson hit a double, Dietrich hit a homerun and the Marlins were 3-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the second Rojas hit an RBI single to give the Marlins a 1-0 lead.  Realmuto hit a two-run single to push the lead to 3-0.  In the second Nido hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 3-1.  In the eighth Dietrich hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 5-1 and that was the final score. 

The series is even at one with the rubber game being on Wednesday night.
