Its being reported on ESPN.com that the yankees have offered CC 6 yrs for slightly more then santanas money. The braves are out on Jake Peavy its being reported, does that mean the Yankees and Angels could become involved, could be. I see that the Mets are going to try and compete with the Yanks for CC, good move but are they kidding themselves? Do they really think they can outbid the Yankees for him? I see that the yankees are readying offers for AJ Burnett and Derek Lowe also, are they trying to get all 3 and then have Joba and Wang and forget Pettitte. If thats the case then they wont sign Tex for sure, but I have a feeling they will not end up with Lowe, he will be with the Mets or Red Sox and they will get CC,AJ and then they can still get Texiera. I know people think they cant do that, but come on they have 800 million in revenue this year and 88 million coming off the books, they can do anything they want. I was suprised at the Athletics getting Holliday but i can see them moving him by trade deadline if they are out of contention. As far as the Mets go I really think they should just sign Krod and Derek Lowe and trade Carlos Delgado. They have collapsed 2 years in a row and if they dont change that core they man never get past that. I think Krod is fine, the guy may have lost velocity but he still can get people out which we all know the Mets have had trouble doing in the 9th inning. The Mets have a new stadium also and plenty of money so they need to get this done.
Yanks need to pounce on Peavy, they should offer Cano, Melky and IPK, and then sign O-Hud for 2B, he is one of the best defensive 2B in the AL. We need to get back to basics, pitching and defense.
ReplyDeleteyour not necessarily wrong on Peavy, i just worry about him coming from the NL and over the last couple of yrs look at the stats he doesn't reach the 7th too often. I also would not give up on Cano so easily, I think he will be fine now after getting some tough love and expect a BIG year out of him this year. I think after CC they can gamble with AJ with Hughes being the backup.
ReplyDeleteAJ is a bigger injury risk, I would rather have Peavy or Sheets
ReplyDeleteI would love for the Yankees to trade for Peavy. I have wanted that guy on the team for years. I agree with you about Cano. I expect him to have a career year next season.
ReplyDeleteGo get Peavey whatever it takes. I don't want to look back in a couple of years and say "should have , could have".Please for the sake of #27 go get him.
ReplyDeleteMLB.com is reporting that they yanks are having ongoing discusions regarding Jake Peavy, the Braves said they are out, which I dont buy, but the cubs dont have what SP wants, and the Angels dont need Peavy, they already have Lackey, Weaver, E Santana, and Saunders, so it looks like it is Yanks or the Braves jump back in.
