The New York Mets lose to the Miami Marlins 6-4

The New York Mets were defeated by the Miami Marlins by the score of 6-4 on Sunday afternoon. The game took place in Jupiter, Florida. Dillon Gee started for the Mets and pitched well and John Buck led the offense with a hit and three RBI. 
Gee pitched three innings giving up three hits and no runs. He walked one and struck out one, Cory Mazzoni pitched two innings giving up four hits and two runs with three walks and two strikeouts, Scott Rice pitched an inning giving up three hits and three runs and took the loss. Robert Carson pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run.

Jordany Valdespin had a hit, Reese Havens and Omar Quintanilla each drew a walk. Wilfredo Tovar had a hit, Buck had a hit and three RBI and Juan Lagares had a hit. Kirk Nieuwenhuis drew a walk, Brandon Hicks had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks and Josh Satin had a hit and drew two walks. Lagares hit a double, Hicks and Buck each hit a homerun. The Mets were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Nieuwenhuis had a stolen base and Brown had an outfield assist.

Nathan Eovaldi started for the Marlins and pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up two hits and three runs with a walk and four strikeouts, Tom Koehler pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts and Ryan Webb pitched an inning giving up a hit and striking out one. Sam Dyson picked up the win pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout, Arquimedes Caminero pitched an inning walking three and striking out one and Zach Phillips pitched an inning giving up two hits and striking out one. Evan Reed picked up a save pitching an inning, walking three and striking out two.

Christian Yelich had a hit and an RBI, Donovan Solano had a hit and drew a walk and Rob Brantly drew a walk. Kyle Skipworth had an RBI, Casey Kotchman had three hits and Adeiny Hechavarria had two hits and two RBI. Gorkys Hernandez had a hit and an RBI, Hernandez, Hechavarria and Yelich each hit a double and Kouzmanoff hit a homerun. The Marlins were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left 10 men on base.

The Mets scored four runs in the third but then the Marlins scored two in the fifth, three in the sixth and one in the seventh. In the third Hicks hit a solo homerun and Buck hit a three run homerun to make it 4-0. Hechavarria hit a two run double in the fifth to make it a 4-2 game. In the sixth Hernandez hit an RBI double, Yelich hit an RBI double and Skipworth hit a sacrifice fly to make it 5-4 Marlins. Kouzmanoff hit a solo homerun in the seventh to make it 6-4 Marlins and that would be all the scoring in the game.

The Mets are now 2-4 in the spring and the Marlins are 4-3.

The Mets will host the Atlanta Braves on Monday afternoon and Miami will be off.
