The New York Yankees lose to the St. Louis Cardinals in a wild finish

The New York Yankees were defeated by the St. Louis Cardinals by the score of 7-6 on Thursday afternoon. The game took place at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, Florida. Ivan Nova started for the Yankees and pitched well and Francisco Cervelli had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Ichiro Suzuki had a hit and a walk. The Yankees had 11 hits in the game but no player had as many as two hits. The Cardinals had 11 hits also but had two guys with two hits. 
Nova pitched three innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and two strikeouts. Brett Marshall pitched four innings giving up five hits and three runs with three strikeouts, Matt Tracy pitched a perfect inning and Kelvin Perez pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and three runs with two of them being earned. He had a strikeout and Josh Spence gave up a hit without recording an out.

Brett Gardner drew a walk, Ramon Flores had a hit and an RBI and Suzuki had a hit and drew a walk. Dan Johnson had a hit, Cervelli had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and JR Murphy had a hit and an RBI. Matt Diaz had a hit and drew a walk, Thomas Neal had a hit and Chris Stewart had a hit. Austin Romine had a hit and an RBI, Ronnier Mustelier had a hit and an RBI and Addison Maruszak had a hit. Stewart, Maruszak and Murphy each hit a double. The Yankees were 4-12 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. Cervelli and Mustelier each had a stolen base, Diaz was caught stealing and Gardner was picked off. Almonte and Johnson committed and error.

Joe Kelly pitched two innings giving up two hits and two runs with one being earned. He walked three and struck out one for the Cardinals. Seth Maness pitched three innings giving up two hits, Jason Motte pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and Marc Rzepczynski pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. Randy Choate gave up a hit and an unearned run without recording an out, Jorge Rondon pitched an inning giving up two hits and Edward Mujica pitched one inning giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout and picked up the win.

Adron Chambers had a hit and an RBI, Oscar Taveras had an RBI and Allen Craig had a hit and drew a walk. Ty Wigginton had a hit, Shane Robinson had a hit and C.J. McElroy had a hit. Daniel Descalso had a hit and two RBI, Kolten Wong had a hit and two RBI and Tony Cruz had two hits. Pete Kozma had two hits and an RBI, Kozma, Descalso and Wong each hit a homerun. The Cardinals were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.

McElroy had a stolen base, Descalso committed an error and Cruz had a passed ball. The Yankees are now 3-9 in the spring and the Cardinals are 6-5 in the spring. The Yankees will play at the Miami Marlins on Friday afternoon and the Cardinals will be at the Washington Nationals.
