CC has rough first inning and the Yankees can't recover as they fall to the Tampa Bay Rays

The New York Yankees were defeated by the Tampa Bay Rays by the score of 5-1 on Monday night. The game took place at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida. CC Sabathia started for the Yankees and had a very rough first inning giving up four runs and four hits. He settled down after that but it was too late. Matt Moore started for the Rays and he pitched great. Robinson Cano was the only guy that did anything offensively for the Yankees. 
Sabathia pitched seven innings giving up five runs on seven hits. He walked two and struck out eight. Adam Warren pitched a 1-2-3 inning.

Brett Gardner drew two walks, Cano had two hits and an RBI and Eduardo Nunez drew a walk. Cano hit a homerun, the Yankees were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. Sabathia committed an error and had a pickoff.

Matt Moore pitched eight innings giving up two hits and a run with three walks and nine strikeouts. Kyle Farnsworth pitched a 1-2-3 inning.

Ryan Roberts had three hits and two RBI, Evan Longoria had a hit and drew a walk and Sean Rodriguez had a hit and an RBI. Yunel Escobar had a hit and two RBI, Shelly Duncan drew a walk and Sam Fuld had a hit. Rodriguez hit a triple, Roberts hit two homeruns and Escobar hit a homerun. The Rays were 1-2 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. Fuld was picked off and Escobar committed an error.

In the first inning the Rays scored four runs to take a 4-0 lead. Roberts hit a solo homerun, Rodriguez hit an RBI triple and Escobar hit a two run homerun. In the third Roberts hit a solo homerun to make it 5-0 Rays. Cano hit a solo homerun for the Yankees only run in the fourth inning to make it 5-1, that was the final score.

The Yankees have now lost two games in a row and their record fell to 10-8. The Rays have won four games in a row and their record improved to 9-10. The two teams will play game two of their three game series on Tuesday night.
