The New York Mets are shutout by the Philadelphia Phillies

The New York Mets were defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies by the score of 4-0 on Friday night. The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York. Dillon Gee started for the Mets and pitched ok. The Mets offense only managed three hits. 
Gee pitched six innings giving up seven hits and four runs with a walk and four strikeouts. Gee picked up his fourth loss of the season. Jeurys Familia pitched two innings giving up a hit and a walk with a strikeout and Josh Edgin pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts.

Ruben Tejada had a hit, David Wright had a hit and Ike Davis drew a walk. Justin Turner had a hit, the Mets were 0-1 with runners in scoring position and they left four men on base. Gee had a pickoff.

Kyle Kendrick started for the Phillies and pitched the complete game shutout. He gave up three hits and a walk with five strikeouts to pick up his second win of the season.

Jimmy Rollins had a hit and drew a walk, Chase Utley had a hit and Michael Young had three hits and an RBI. Ryan Howard had a hit and three RBI, Lance Nix had a hit and Kratz had a hit and drew a walk. Nix hit a double and Howard hit a homerun. The Phillies were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. Rollins was picked off.

The Phillies scored four runs in the sixth inning to take the 4-0 lead and that would be the final score. Young hit an RBI single and Howard a three run homerun.

The Mets record dropped to 10-11 on the season and the Phillies record improved to 10-14 on the season. The two teams will play game two of the three game series on Saturday afternoon.
