The New York Mets are shutout by the Atlanta Braves

The New York Mets lost to the Atlanta Braves by the score of 6-0 on Saturday night. The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York. Dillon Gee started and didn’t pitch very well and the bullpen wasn’t great either. Ruben Tejada lead the Mets offense with half of their hits. 
Gee lost his sixth game of the season pitching five innings and giving up eight hits and five runs. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out four. Robert Carson pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and Sean Burke pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and striking out three.

Tejada had three hits, Justin Turner had a hit and Lucas Duda had a hit. Recker drew a walk, Mike Baxter had a hit and Gee drew a walk. The Mets were 0-5 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.

Mike Minor won his sixth game of the season pitching 7 1/3 innings giving up thee hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts. David Carpenter pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up three hits and two strikeouts.

Andrelton Simmons had two hits, Jason Heyward had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Justin Upton had two hits and an RBI. Freddie Freeman had two hits and two RBI, Chris Johnson had two hits and Minor had two hits and two RBI. Simmons and Justin Upton each hit a double and Minor hit a homerun. The Braves were 4-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.

In the fifth Minor hit a two run homerun, Heyward hit an RBI single, J. Upton hit an RBI double and Freeman hit an RBI single. In the seventh Freeman hit an RBI single to make it 6-0 and that was the final score.

The Mets record fell to 17-29 and the Braves record improved to 30-18. The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Sunday night.
