The New York Mets shutout the Chicago White Sox

The New York Mets defeated the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night. The final score was 3-0 and the game took place in Chicago, Illinois. Shaun Marcum started for the Mets and earned his first victory of the season. Eric Young Jr. led the offense, as he stayed hot with three hits.

Marcum pitched eight innings and gave up no runs and four hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Bobby Parnell earned his 13th save of the season with a perfect inning.

Young Jr. had three hits and an RBI, Daniel Murphy had a hit and Josh Satin had a hit. Andrew Brown had a hit, Juan Lagares had a hit and an RBI and the Mets were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. Marlon Byrd was caught stealing.

John Danks pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and three runs with one of them being earned. He walked none and struck out seven and took his fifth loss of the season. Nate Jones pitched 1 2/3 perfect innings with a strikeout.

Alexi Ramirez had two hits, Adam Dunn drew two walks and Brent Morel had a hit. Gordon Beckham had a hit, which was a double. The White Sox were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base. Ramirez had a stolen base and was caught stealing. Ramirez also committed an error.

The three runs were all scored in the fifth inning. Lagares reached on an error and two runs scored and Young hit an RBI single.

The Mets record improved to 31-43 on the season and they earned a split of the two game series. The White Sox record dropped to 32-43. The Mets will play at Colorado on Thursday night. It is a makeup game from earlier in the season and then they return home to start a three game series with the Washington Nationals
