The New York Mets blow out the Philadelphia Phillies



The New York Mets defeated the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday night.  The game took place at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the final score was 11-2.   Bartolo Colon started and pitched pretty well for the Mets.  The bullpen was good and Wilmer Flores led the Mets with six RBI. 

Colon pitched seven innings giving up six hits and three runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Colon won his fifth game of the season, Dana Eveland pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout, Jeurys Familia faced one batter and retired him and Carlos Torres pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Roberto Hernandez lost his third game of the season pitching 5 1/3 innings and giving up five hits and five runs with four of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out five.  Mario Hollands pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts, Cesar Jimenez pitched an inning and walked one and Jake Diekman pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and four runs with two walks and a strikeout.  Phillippe Aumont pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and a strikeout. 

Matt den Dekker had a hit, Daniel Murphy had two hits and David Wright had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Curtis Granderson had a hit and two RBI, Bobby Abreu had a hit and drew a walk and Eric Campbell drew a walk.  Lucas Duda had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Flores had two hits and six RBI and Travis d'Arnaud drew two walks.  Chris Young drew a walk, Abreu, Duda, Wright and Flores each hit a double and Flores hit a homerun.  The Mets were 5-12 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Wright was caught stealing and den Dekker had an outfield assist. 

Ben Revere had two hits, Cesar Hernandez had a hit and drew a walk and Chase Utley had a hit.  Ryan Howard had an RBI and drew a walk, Marlon Byrd drew a walk and Dominic Brown had a hit.  Reid Brignac had two hits, Utley hit a double and the Phillies were 1-8 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Utley committed an error and Byrd had an outfield assist. 

Duda hit an RBI double in the second to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Wright hit a two run double in the sixth, Flores hit a two run double also in the sixth and it was 5-0 Mets.  Howard had an RBI groundout in the sixth to cut the lead to 5-1.  Revere scored on a wild pitch in the eighth to make it 5-2 and then Granderson hit a two run single and Flores hit a grand slam to extend the Mets lead to 11-2 in the ninth.  11-2 was the final score and the Mets won four out of the five games.  The Mets will now head to Chicago to take on the Cubs in a three game series.
