New York Yankees win second straight in San Diego

 

The New York Yankees defeated the San Diego Padres on Saturday night.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 4-1.  Marcus Stroman started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen pitched well and the offense was led by Anthony Volpe, Aaron Judge and Alex Verdugo each had two hits. 

Stroman won his fourth game of the season pitching six innings and giving up three hits and no runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  Luke Weaver pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with two walks and a strikeout and Clay Holmes pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and he earned his 15th save of the season. 

Dylan Cease started for the Padres and he pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and four runs with no walks and nine strikeouts.  Cease lost his fourth game of the season.  Yuki Matsui pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings with two strikeouts and Enyel De Los Santos pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts. 

Volpe had two hits, Judge had two hits and two RBI and Verdugo had two hits.  Anthony Rizzo had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI and Oswaldo Cabrera had a hit.  Judge hit a double and a homerun and the Yankees were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Luis Arraez had a hit, Fernando Tatis Jr. had a hit and an RBI and Jurikson Profar drew a walk.  Jake Cronenworth had a hit, Manny Machado had a hit and Luis Campusano drew two walks.  Cronenworth hit a triple and Tatis Jr. hit a homerun and the Padres were 0-4 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

In the first Judge hit a two-run homerun giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.  In the fourth Rizzo hit an RBI single extending the lead to 3-0 and Torres hit a sac fly making it 4-0.  In the bottom of the eight Tatis Jr. hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 4-1 and that was the final score.  The Yankees will look for the three game sweep on Sunday afternoon.   

Yankees slug their way to a shutout victory over the San Diego Padres

 

The New York Yankees defeated the San Diego Padres on Friday night.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 8-0.  Carlos Rodon started for the Yankees and he pitched well, the bullpen also pitched well and the offense was led by Juan Soto who had two hits and two RBI. 

Rodon pitched six innings giving up three hits and no runs with three walks and two strikeouts.  Rodon picked up his sixth win of the season.  Dennis Santana pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout and Yoendrys Gomez pitched a perfect inning striking out the side. 

Yu Darvish started for the Padres, and he didn’t pitch well going 5 2/3 innings giving up nine hits and seven runs.  He walked one and struck out five and took his second loss of the season.  Stephen Kolek pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout and Jhonny Brito pitched two innings giving up a hit and a run with a walk and a strikeout. 

Anthony Volpe had a hit and drew a walk, Soto had two hits and two RBI and Aaron Judge had a hit and two RBI.  Alex Verdugo had a hit, Giancarlo Stanton had a hit and two RBI and Gleyber Torres had a hit and an RBI.  Austin Wells had two hits, Jon Berti had a hit and Soto hit a double, Volpe hit a triple and Soto, Judge and Stanton each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-5 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Berti had a stolen base. 

Fernando Tatis Jr. drew a walk, Manny Machado had a hit and drew a walk and Jake Cronenworth had a hit and drew a walk.  Jackson Merrill had a hit, and the Padres were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the first Judge hit a sac fly to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the third Soto hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 3-0.  Judge hit a solo homerun and Stanton hit a two-run homerun to extend the lead to 6-0.  In the fourth Torres hit a solo homerun making it a 7-0 game and in the ninth a wild pitch made it 8-0, which would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.

New York Yankees outslug the San Diego Padres

 The New York Yankees defeated the San Diego Padres on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at 

Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 10-7.  Gerrit Cole started for the Yankees

And he pitched ok.  The bullpen did a good job and Kyle Higashioka led the offense with three hits.  

Cole won his sixth game of the season pitching six innings and giving up four hits and six runs with five

Being earned.  He walked three and struck out nine.  Jimmy Cordero pitched an inning giving up a hit and

He struck out two, Ron Marinaccio pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and Clay Holmes pitched an 

Inning giving up a run and two walks.  

Yu Darvish started for the Padres and he pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up seven hits and seven runs.  He

Struck out two with no walks and too his fourth loss of the season.  Drew Carlton pitched 2 1/3 innings

Giving up two hits and a run with three strikeouts, Domingo Tapia pitched a perfect inning and 

Brent Honeywell pitched two innings giving up three hits and two runs with three strikeouts.  

Gleyber Torres had a hit, Aaron Judge had two hits and two RBI and Anthony Rizzo had a hit and an RBI.

Harrison Bader had a hit and two RBI, Willie Calhoun had two hits and an RBI and Isiah Kiner-Falefa

Had a hit and an RBI.  Higashioka had three hits and two RB I and Anthony Volpe had a hit and an RBI.  

Higashioka hit two doubles and Calhoun hit a double.  Judge and Bader each hita homerun.  

The Yankees were 7-10 with runners in scoring position and left two men on base.  Bader had a stolen 

Base and Kiner-Falefa had a stolen base.  Bader committed an error and HIgashioka committed an error.  

Higashioka had a pickoff.  

Fernando Tatis Jr. Drew a walk, Jake Cronenworth had a hit and an RBI and Matt Carpenter

Drew a walk.  Roughned Odor had a hit and two RBI, Ha-Seong Kim hada hit and drew two walks and 

Trent Grisham had a hit and drew a walk.  Jose Azocar had a hit and two RBI, Brett Sullivan had an RBI.  

Grisham hit a double and Cronenworth and Odor each hit a homerun.  The Padres were 1-7 with 

Runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Kim and Azocar each had a stolen base.  

Tatis Jr. Was picked off and Sullivan committed an error.  

In the first Cronenworth hit a solo homerun giving the padres a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Judge 

Hit a solo homerun tying the game at one.  In the second Azocar hit a two-run single with tow errors 

Mixed in giving the Padres a 3-1 lead.  In the bottom of the third Volpe hit an RBI single, Judge hit an RBI 

Single, Rizzo hit an RBI single and Bader hit an RBI groundout.  Calhoun hit an RBI double amazing it 

6-3 and Kiner-Falefa hit an RBI single.  Higashioka hit an RBI double and it was 8-3 Yankees.  

In the seventh Odor hit a two run homerun cutting the lead to 8-5.  Azocar etched on a fielders

Choice making it 8-6.  In the eighth Bader hit a solo homerun making it 9-6.  Higashioka hit an RBI single

And it was 10-6.  In the ninth Sullivan hit a sac fly cutting the lead to 10-7.  

The Yankees took two out of three and will head to Seattle for a three-game series

Beginning on Monday night.  

New York Yankees walk it off in extra innings

 The New York Yankees defeated the San Diego Padres on Saturday.  The game took place at Yankee

Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 3-2 in ten innings.  Luis Severino started for

The Yankees and he pitched well.  The bullpen pitched very well and DJ LeMahieu had two hits and two

RBI to lead the offense.  

Severino pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up a hit and two runs with only one being earned.  He walked 

Three and struck out five.  Michael King pitched an inning giving u a hit and a walk with two strikeouts,

Wandy Peralta pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and a walk and Clay Holmes pitched an inning with 

A strikeout earning his third win of the season.  

Michael Wacha started for the Padres and he pitched seven innings giving up five hits and two runs and 

He had four strikeouts and Nick Martinez pitched 2 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a run which was

Unearned and he walked one and struck out one losing his second game of the season.  

Gleyber Torres had a hit, Aaron Judge had a hit and Anthony Rizzo had a hit.  LeMahieu had two hits,

Two RBI and drew a walk, Harrison Bader had a hit and Isiah Kiner-Falefa had a hit and an RBI.  

Oswaldo Cabrera had a hit, LeMahieu hit a double and a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-4 with 

Runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Bader was caught stealing.

Torres committed an error and Peralta had a pickoff.  

Fernando Tatis Jr. Had a hit and an RBI, Juan Soto drew two walks and Jake Cronenworth had a hit.  

Nelson Cruz drew a walk, Trent Grisham drew a walk and Ha-Seong Kim had a hit, an RBI and drew

A walk.  Tatis Jr. Hit a homerun and the Padres were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven 

Men on base.  Grisham was caught stealing and picked off.  Soto had an outfield assist.  

In the bottom of the first LeMahieu hit an RBI double giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth

Tatis Jr. Hit a homerun tying the game at one.  In the seventh Kim hit an RBI single giving the Padres a 2- 

Lead.  In the bottom of the seventh Lemhaiue hit a solo homerun tying the game at two.  

In the bottom of the tenth Kiner-Falefa hit an RBI walk-off single giving the Yankees a 3-2 victory.  

The two teams will play the rubber game of the three-game series on Sunday afternoon.  

New York Yankees drop third in a row in loss to the San Diego Padres.

 The New York Yankees were defeated by the San Diego Padres on Friday night.  The game took place 

At Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-1.  Randy Vasquez started for the 

Yankees making his major league debut and he pitched well.  The bullpen wasn’t great and Anthony Rizzo

Led the offense with a couple of hits.  

Vasquez lost his first game of the season pitching 4 2/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with three

Walks and six strikeouts.  Ron Marinaccio pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a hit and two runs with a walk

And a strikeout and Ryan Weber pitched three innings giving up four hits and a run with three strikeouts.  

Joe Musgrove started for the Padres and he won his second game of the season.  He pitched 6 1/3 innings

Giving up six hits and a run with six strikeouts.  Steven Wilson pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit

And he struck out two and Josh Hader pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts.

Homerun.  Tatis Jr. Hit a homerun and the Padres were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left 10 on 

Base.  Dixon, Bogaerts and Odor each had a stolen base.  

In the fifth Soto hit a two-run homerun.  In the sixth Tatis Jr. Hit a two-ru =n homerun pushing the lead 

To 4-0.  In the bottom of the sixth Rizzo hit an RBI groundout cutting the lead to 4-1.  In the ninth Odor 

Hit an RBI single extending the lad to 5-1 and that was the final score.  

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday.

New York Yankees win rubber game against the San Diego Padres


The New York Yankees defeated the San Diego Padres on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 7-0.  James Paxton started for the Yankees and pitched well and the bullpen was good.  Luke Voit, Gleyber Torres and Cameron Maybin each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Paxton pitched four innings giving up two walks and he struck out seven.  Chad Green pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Jonathan Holder won his fourth game of the season pitching two innings and giving up a hit and he struck out one.  Nestor Cortes Jr. pitched an inning giving up two hits and he walked one.   

Chris Paddack pitched five innings giving up six hits and four runs with a walk and six strikeouts and he lost his third game of the season.  Adam Warren pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up four hits and three runs with two being earned.  He struck out one and Luis Perdomo pitched 1 2/3 innings with a walk and two strikeouts. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit, an RBI and drew two walks, Voit had two hits and an RBI and Torres had two hits and two RBI.  Brett Gardner had a hit and an RBI, Gio Urshela had a hit and an RBI and Maybin had two hits.  Austin Romine had a hit, Voit hit a triple and LeMahieu, Urshela, Torres and Voit each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Maybin had two stolen bases and Torres committed an error. 

Wil Myers had a hit, Manny Machado drew two walks and Eric Hosmer had a hit.  Hunter Renfroe had a hit, Austin Allen had a hit and Manuel Margot drew a walk.  Allen hit a double and the Padres were 1-9 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Myers had a stolen base and Hedges committed an error. 

In the first LeMahieu and Voit went back-to-back with homeruns to lead off the game and give them a quick 2-0 lead.  In the second Urshela hit a solo homerun to push the lead to 3-0.  In the fifth Gardner hit a sac fly to make it a 4-0 game and in the sixth a stolen base by Maybin and a throwing error allowed a run to score and make it a 5-0 game.  In the seventh Torres hit a two-run homerun and the lead was 7-0 and that was the final score. 

The Yankees won two out of three in the series and took their eighth straight series for the first time since 1998.  They will now face the Red Sox in a four-game series at home beginning on Thursday night. 

New York Yankees fall just short in loss to the San Diego Padres


The New York Yankees were defeated by the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-4.  Masahiro Tanaka started for the Yankees and he had a rough first inning but then settled down.  The Yankees bullpen pitched well and Luke Voit and Aaron Hicks each had two hits. 

Tanaka lost his fourth game of the season pitching six innings and giving up nine hits and five runs with four of them being earned.  He walked two and struck out seven.  Joe Harvey pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up a hit and he walked two and struck out two and Luis Cessa pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up a walk and he struck out two. 

Eric Lauer pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and a run with four strikeouts and he won his fourth game of the season.  Matt Wisler pitched 2/3 of an inning with a strikeout, Brad Wieck pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a run and a walk with a strikeout and Phil Maton pitched giving up a run and a walk without recording an out.  Robbie Erlin pitched giving up a hit and a run without recording an out, Craig Stammen pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up two hits and he struck out one and Kirby Yates saved his 21st game of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit. 

DJ LeMahieu had a hit and two RBI, Voit had two hits and Hicks had two hits and an RBI.  Gary Sanchez had a hit and an RBI, Kendrys Morales drew a walk and Thairo Estrada drew a walk.  Gio Urshela had a hit, Brett Gardner had a hit and Sanchez hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  LeMahieu committed an error. 

Greg Garcia had two hits and an RBI and drew a walk, Franmil Reyes had a hit and Manny Machado had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Eric Hosmer had two hits and three RBI, Hunter Renfroe drew two walks and Wil Myers had a hit.  Ty France had two hits, Austin Hedges had a hit and drew a walk.  France hit a double and Hosmer hit a homerun.  The Padres were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base. 

In the first Machado hit an RBI single and Hosmer hit a three-run homerun to give the Padres a 4-0 lead.  In the fourth Sanchez hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the sixth Garcia hit an RBI single to push the lead to 5-1.  In the seventh LeMahieu hit a two-run single cutting the lead to 5-3 and Hicks hit into a force out making it 5-4 but that would be as close as they got.  5-4 would be the final score.  The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Wednesday afternoon.

The New York Yankees defeat the San Diego Padres


The New York Yankees defeated the San Diego Padres on Monday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 5-2.  Chad Green was the opener and he pitched one great inning and the bullpen was excellent in this game.  Clint Frazier had two hits to lead the offense. 

Green pitched a perfect inning with three strikeouts, David Hale picked up his first win of the season pitching four innings and giving up three hits and two runs with a walk and four strikeouts.  Adam Ottavino pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one, Tommy Khanle pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts and Zack Britton pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout.  Aroldis Chapman picked up his 15th save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit. 

Matt Strahm pitched six innings giving up four hits and three runs with three walks and ten strikeouts.  Strahm  lost his fourth game of the season.  Trey Wingenter pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out two, Craig Stammen pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up three hits and two runs with one being earned and Phil Maton pitched to two batters and got them both out. 

DJ LeMahieu had ah it, Luke Voit drew two walks and Gary Sanchez had a hit and an RBI.  Gleyber Torres had a hit, Frazier had two hits and an RBI and Cameron Maybin had a hit.  Gio Urshela drew a walk, Brett Gardner had a hit and two RBI and Frazier and Torres each hit a double.  Sanchez, Frazier and Gardner each hit a homerun.  The Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base. 

Franmil Reyes had a hit, Manny Machado had a hit and Eric Hosmer had a hit.  Hunter Renfroe had a hit, Wil Myers drew a walk and Josh Naylor had a hit and an RBI.  Austin Hedges had a hit and an RBI, Naylor, Hedges and Machado each hit a double and the Padres were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Reyes and Wingenter each committed an error. 

In the second Naylor hit an RBI double and Hedges hit an RBI double to give the Padres a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the second Frazier hit a solo homerun and Gardner hit a two-run homerun to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead.  In the eighth Sanchez hit a solo homerun and Maybin hit an RBI single to push the lead to 5-2 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.

New York Mets lose a close one to the San Diego Padres


The New York Mets were defeated by the San Diego Padres on Wednesday afternoon.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 3-2.  Wilmer Font who the Mets just picked up made the start and he pitched well, the bullpen wasn’t bad.  Jeff McNeil and Tomas Nido each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Font pitched four innings and he gave up three hits and two runs with a strikeout.  Robert Gsellman pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out three, Tyler Bashlor lost his first game and he pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk and two strikeouts and Drew Gagnon pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout. 

Matt Strahm pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up six hits and two runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Gerardo Reyes pitched 1 2/3 innings with three strikeouts and Kirby Yates pitched an inning giving up a hit and a walk with three strikeouts and he picked up his 15th save of the season. 

McNeil had tow hits, Amed Rosario had a hit and an RBI and Michael Conforto drew a walk.  J.D. Davis had a hit, Brandon Nimmo had a hit and drew a walk and Nido had two hits and an RBI.  Nimmo and McNeil each hit a double and Nido hit a homerun.  The Mets were 2-5 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Conforto had a stolen base and Cano committed an error.  Nido had a pickoff. 

Franmil Reyes had a hit and an RBI, Manny Machado had a hit and Eric Hosmer had a hit and an RBI.  Hunter Renfroe had a hit and an RBI, Manuel Margot drew a walk and Strahm had a hit.  Strahm hit a double and Renfroe and Hosmer each hit a homerun.  The Padres were 1-4 with runners in scoring position and left three men on base.  Margot had a stolen base and was picked off. 

In the first Rosario hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Nido hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 2-0.  In the bottom of the second Hosmer hit a solo homerun cutting the lead to 2-1.  In the bottom of the third Reyes hit an RBI single to tie the game at two.  In the seventh Renfroe hit a solo homerun giving the Padres a 3-2 lead and that would be the final score. 

The Mets lost two out of three in this series and will be off on Thursday.  They will begin a three-game series with the Marlins at home on Friday night.

New York Mets defeated the San Diego Padres in high scoring affair


The New York Mets defeated the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 7-6.  Noah Syndergaard started for the Mets and he didn’t pitch well.  Robinson Cano had four hits and Pete Alonso had four RBI to lead the offense. 

Syndergaard pitched six innings and gave up nine hits and five runs with four being earned.  He walked one and struck out five.  Seth Lugo won his second game of the season pitching two innings and giving up a hit and a walk with two strikeouts and Edwin Diaz earned his ninth save of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits and a run with two walks and two strikeouts. 

Cal Quantrill pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up seven hits and two runs with two walks and five strikeouts.  Brad Wieck pitched 1 2/3 innings with four strikeouts, Phil Maton pitched giving up a hit and two runs with a walk and he didn’t record an out and Robbie Erlin pitched to one batter and struck him out.  Craig Stammen pitched 2/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a walk and a strikeout and Adam Warren took his first loss of the season pitching two innings giving up two hits and two runs with a walk and a strikeout.

Ian Kinsler had two hits, Franmil Reyes had three hits and two RBI and Manny Machado had a hit and drew a walk.  Eric Hosmer had a hit, Hunter Renfroe had two hits and an RBI.  Ty France had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Wil Myers drew a walk and Francisco Mejia had a hit.  Greg Garcia drew a walk, Renfroe and Hosmer each hit a double.  Reyes and France each hit a homerun and the Padres were 3-10 with runners in scoring position and left 8 men on base.  Myers, Renfroe and Margot each had a stolen base.  Kinsler committed an error and Quantrill had a pickoff. 

In the first Rosario hit an RBI single, Alonso hit an RBI single and the Mets grabbed a 2-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Hosmer hit into a force-out and the lead was cut to 2-1.  In the third Reyes hit a solo homerun tying the game at two.  In the fourth France hit a two-run homerun to give the Padres a 4-2 lead.  In the sixth Renfroe hit an RBI single and the lead was pushed to 5-2.  In the seventh Alonso hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-3.  Conforto hit a sac fly making it 5-4 and Nimmo hit an RBI double to tie the game at five.  In the ninth Alonso hit a two-run homerun to give the Mets a 7-5 lead and in the bottom of the ninth Reyes hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 7-6 and that would be the final score.

New York Mets get shutout in San Diego


The New York Mets were defeated by the San Diego Padres on Monday night.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 4-0.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well, the Mets offense couldn’t get anything going. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up four hits and two runs.  He walked one and struck out seven and took his fourth loss of the season.  Justin Wilson pitched an inning giving up three hits and two runs with a strikeout. 

Chris Paddack pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up four hits and no runs with a walk and 11 strikeouts.  He earned his third win of the season.  Craig Stammen pitched 1 1/3 innings with a strikeout. 

Jeff McNeil had two hits, Robinson Cano drew a walk and Todd Frazier had a hit.  DeGrom had a hit and the Mets were 0-2 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Greg Garcia had a hit, Manuel Margot had a hit and Manny Machado had a hit.  Eric Hosmer had two hits and two RBI, Hunter Renfroe had two hits and an RBI and Ty France had an RBI.  Wil Myers drew a walk, Renfroe and Hosmer each hit a double and Renfroe hit a homerun.  The Padres were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base. 

In the fifth Renfroe hit a solo homerun giving the Padres a 1-0 lead.  In the seventh France hit a sac fly to make it 2-0.  In the eighth Hosmer hit a two-run double to push the lead to 4-0 and that would be the final score. 

The two teams will play game two on Tuesday night.

New York Mets blow out the San Diego Padres


The New York Mets defeated the San Diego Padres on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 14-2.  Zach Wheeler started for the Mets and he pitched well and the bullpen was great.  Adrian Gonzalez led the offense with three hits and five RBI. 

Wheeler won his second game of the season and pitched five innings giving up six hits and two runs.  He walked two and struck out nine.  Paul Sewald pitched two innings giving up two hits and he struck out three, Robert Gsellman pitched an inning giving up two hits and Matt Harvey pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Bryan Mitchell pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with four walks and five strikeouts.  He lost his third game of the season.  Jordan Lyles pitched 1 2/3 innings giving up five hits and four runs with a walk, Phil Maton pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a walk and Kazuhisa Makita pitched an inning giving up six hits and five runs with a walk and a strikeout.  Kirby Yates pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk, Michael Conforto had two hits and an RBI and Yoenis Cespedes had two hits.  Brandon Nimmo had two hits and an RBI, Jay Bruce had two hits, an RBI and drew two walks and Todd Frazier had two hits, two RBI and drew a walk.  Gonzalez had three hits and five RBI, Jose Reyes had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk and Tomas Nido had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk.  Wilmer Flores drew a walk, Cespedes and Gonzalez each hit a double and Gonzalez, Frazier and Reyes each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 7-13 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base.  Reyes and Bruce each had a stolen base and Cespedes had two stolen bases.  Nido committed two errors. 

Manuel Margot had two hits, Eric Hosmer had three hits and Christian Villanueva drew a walk.  Franchy Cordero had a hit, Jose Pirela had a hit and drew a walk and Freddy Galvis had a hit and two RBI.  A.J. Ellis had two hits, Travis Jankowski had a hit and Margot and Hosmer each hit a double.  The Padres were 1-11 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base.  Margot had a stolen base. 

In the first Bruce hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Nido hit an RBI single to push the lead to 2-0.  In the third Gonzalez hit a two-run double and it was 4-0 Mets.  In the third Galvis hit a two-run single to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the seventh Gonzalez hit a three-run homerun to push the lead to 7-2.  Cabrera hit a two-run single and it was 9-2.  In the eighth Frazier hit a two-run homerun to extend the Yankees lead to 11-2.  Reyes hit a solo homerun and Conforto hit an RBI single to make it 13-2.  Nimmo hit an RBI single to push the lead to 14-2 and that was the final score. 

The Mets will have off on Monday and start a three game series with the Braves on home on Tuesday night.

New York Mets defeat the San Diego Padres


The New York Mets defeated the San Diego Padres on Friday night.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 5-1.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and pitched great.  Asdrubal Cabrera, Juan Lagares and Jose Lobaton all led the offense with two hits. 

deGrom pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up five hits and no runs with three walks and eight strikeouts.  deGrom won his third game of the season.  Jerry Blevins pitched to one batter and got him out, AJ Ramos pitched to one batter and got him out and Matt Harvey pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a walk. 

Clayton Richard pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up six hits and three runs with three walks and four strikeouts.  Richard lost his third game of the season, Craig Stammen pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout, Kazuhisa Makita pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run and he struck out one and Jordan Lyles pitched an inning with a walk and a strikeout. 

Cabrera had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk, Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and drew two walks and Todd Frazier had a hit and an RBI.  Michael Conforto drew a walk, Lagares had two hits and Lobaton had two hits and an RBI.  Amed Rosario had a hit, Cabrera and Lobaton each hit a double.  Cabrera hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Wil Myers had a hit, Eric Hosmer drew a walk and Christian Villanueva had a hit.  Franchy Cordero had two hits and an RBI, Jose Pirela drew two walks and Freddy Galvis had two hits.  Austin Hedges drew a walk, Cordero hit a homerun and the Padres were 0-3 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Cordero was caught stealing. 

In the first Frazier hit an RBI single to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the seventh Cabrera hit a three-run homerun to push their lead to 4-0.  In the eighth Lobaton hit an RBI double to extend their lead to 5-0.  In the ninth Cordero hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-1. 

The two teams will play game two of three on Saturday night.

New York Mets are defeated by the San Diego Padres


The New York Mets were defeated by the San Diego Padres on Thursday night.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 7-5.  Chris Flexen made the start and his major league debut for the Mets.  He didn’t pitch very well.  The Mets had three batters with two hits and Jay Bruce had three RBI to lead the offense. 

Flexen pitched three innings giving up five hits and four runs with three of them being earned.  He walked four and struck out two and lost his first game of the season.  Tyler Pill pitched two innings giving up two hits and three runs with two walks and a strikeout, Josh Edgin pitched a perfect inning and Fernando Salas pitched an inning with a strikeout.  Erik Goeddel pitched a perfect inning with a couple of strikeouts. 

Luis Perdomo pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up nine hits and four runs with two walks and three strikeouts.  Perdomo won his fifth game of the season.  Jose Torres pitched giving up a hit and a run,  Phil Maton pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings with three strikeouts and Brad Hand saved his fifth game of the season pitching a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Michael Conforto had two hits, Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits and drew a walk and Yoenis Cespedes had a hit and an RBI.  Bruce had a hit and three RBI, Wilmer Flores had a hit and Curtis Granderson had a hit and drew a walk.  Matt Reynolds had two hits, Conforto hit a double, Cabrera, Grandreson and Cespedes also each hit a double.  Bruce hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Conforto committed an error. 

Manuel Margot had three hits and three RBI, Carlos Asuaje drew two walks and Wil Myers had a hit.  Cory Spangenberg drew two walks, Jabari Blash had a hit and drew a walk and Dusty Coleman had two hits and three RBI.  Luis Torrens drew a walk, Margot hti a double and a homerun and Coleman hit a homerun.  The Padres were 2-8 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Myers was caught stealing. 

In the first Bruce grounded into an RBI force out to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Margot hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the second Margot hit a three run double to give the Padres a 4-1 lead.  In the fifth Coleman hit a three-run homerun to push the lead to 7-1.  In the seventh Cespedes hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 7-2.  A balk brought home another run and Bruce hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead to 7-5.  The final score would be 7-5 and the Mets would begin a three game series with the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.

New York Mets are doubled up by the San Diego Padres


The New York Mets were defeated by the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Petco Park in San Diego, California and the final score was 6-3.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and he pitched poorly.  The Mets offense only managed five hits. 

Matz pitched three innings giving up nine hits and six runs with no walks and four strikeouts.  Matz lost his fourth game of the season.  Erik Goeddel pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Tyler Pill pitched two innings giving up a walk and he struck out one and Hansel Robles pitched two innings giving up a hit and he struck out four. 

Jhoulys Chacin pitched 5 1/3 innings giving up four hits and two runs with three walks and five strikeouts.  Chacin won his tenth game of the season.  Buddy Baumann pitched 1/3 of an inning and walked one, Craig Stammen pitched 1 1/3 inning with a strikeout and Kirby Yates pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts.  Brad Hand pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout and earned his fourth save of the season.

Jose Pirela had a hit, Manuel Margot had two hits and two RBI and Wil Myers had a hit and an RBI.  Hunter Renfroe had a hit, Jabari Blash had a hit and Carlos Asuaje had a hit.  Cory Spangenberg had a hit, Luis Torrens had a hit and three RBI and Chacin had a hit.  Matt Szczur drew a walk, Renfroe and Myers each hit a double and Margot and Torrens each hit a triple.  Margot hit a homerun and the Padres were 4-9 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

In the first Margot hit a two-run homerun to give the Padres a 2-0 lead.  In the second Reyes hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 2-1.  In the third Myers hit an RBI double to extend the lead to 3-1 and Torrens hit a three-run triple to push the lead to 6-1.  In the sixth Reyes drew an RBI walk to make it a 6-2 game.  Flores hit a solo homerun in the eighth to cut the lead to 6-3 and that would be the final score.

Bruce hit an RBI single to push the lead to 3-0.  In the fifth Bruce hit an RBI single and the lead was 4-0.  In the seventh Renfroe hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 4-1.  In the eighth d’Arnaud hit an RBI single to push the lead to 5-1.  In the bottom of the eighth Asuaje hit an RBI double to cut the lead to 5-2.  In the ninth Renfroe hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 5-3 and that would be the final score.

New York Mets blow lead and lose to the San Diego Padres


The New York Mets were defeated by the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 6-5.  Robert Gsellman started for the Mets and he pitched well.  Michael Conforto, Wilmer Flores and Neil Walker each had two hits to lead the offense.   

Gsellman pitched six innings giving up six hits and three runs with a walk and three strikeouts.  Fernando Salas pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and two runs with two walks and a strikeout, Neil Ramirez pitched to one batter and gave up a hit and Josh Edgin pitched to one batter and retired him.  Josh Smoker took his second loss of the season pitching an inning and giving up two hits and a run and Addison Reed pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Jarred Cosart pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up four hits and four runs with four walks and a strikeout, Jose Torres pitched 1 1/3 innings giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Kevin Quackenbush pitched two innings giving up three walks and a strikeout.  Ryan Buchter pitched an inning giving up a walk and a strikeout and he won his third game of the season, Brandon Maurer pitched an inning with a strikeout and Brad Hand pitched an inning giving up two hits and a walk with two strikeouts.  Hand also got his first save of the season. 

Conforto had two hits, an RBI and drew two walks, Jose Reyes drew two walks and Walker had two hits.  Lucas Duda drew three walks, Flores had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk and Curtis Granderson had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Juan Lagares had a hit, Flores and Lagares each hit a double and the Mets were 4-15 with runners in scoring position and left 12 men on base. 

Matt Szczur had a hit and drew two walks, Yangervis Solarte had two hits, three RBI and drew a walk and Wil Myers had two hits and two RBI.  Hunter Renfroe had a hit and an RBI, Allen Cordoba had two hits and Luis Torrens had two hits.  Chase d’Arnaud had a hit, Myers, Torrens and Solarte each hit a double and Renfroe hit a homerun.  The Padres were 3-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  d’Arnaud had a stolen base and Myers was caught stealing.  Renfroe committed an error. 

In the third Solarte hit an RBI single to give the Padres a 1-0 lead.  In the third Flores hit a three-run double to give the Mets a 3-1 lead.  Granderson hit an RBI single and it was 4-1 Mets.  In the fourth Conforto hit an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-1.  Solarte hit a two-run double in the fifth to cut the lead to 5-3.  In the seventh Myers hit a two-run single to tie the game at five.  In the eighth Renfroe hit a solo homerun to give the Padres a 6-5 lead and that would be the final score. 

They will play the rubber game on Thursday night.

The New York Mets were defeated by the San Diego Padres on Tuesday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 9-3.  Matt Harvey started for the Mets and pitched ok and the bullpen was mostly good.  Michael Conforto and Lucas Duda each had three hits to lead the offense. 

Harvey pitched five innings giving up three hits and two runs with four walks and six strikeouts.  Harvey won his third game of the season.  Josh Smoker pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with two strikeouts, Paul Sewald pitched an inning giving up two hits and he struck out one and Jerry Blevins pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two.  Fernando Salas pitched 1 1/3 perfect innings with two strikeouts. 

Jhoulys Chacin started for the Padres and pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up eight hits and seven runs.  He didn’t strike out or walk a batter and took his fourth loss of the season.  Craig Stammen pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up three hits and a run with two strikeouts, Miguel Diaz pitched two perfect innings with a strikeout and Kirby Yates pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run with a strikeout.  Brad Hand pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Conforto had three hits and four RBI, Jose Reyes had a hit and Jay Bruce had a hit.  Juan Lagares had a hit, Neil Walker had two hits and Curtis Granderson had an RBI.  Wilmer Flores had two hits and an RBI, Duda had three hits and three RBI and Rene Rivera had a hit.  Duda hit a double, Conforto hit two homeruns and the Mets were 6-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base. 

Manuel Margot had a hit, Yangervis Solarte had two hits and drew a walk and Ryan Schimpf had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk.  Hunter Renfroe had two hits, Cory Spangenberg had an RBI and Austin Hedges had an RBI and drew a walk.  Erick Aybar had a hit, Stammen drew a walk and Renfroe hit two doubles.  Schimpf hit a homerun and the Padres were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Renfroe had an outfield assist. 

In the first Conforto hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  Granderson hit a sac fly to extend the lead to 2-0.  Flores hit an RBI single and Duda hit a two-run double to make it 5-0 Mets.  Conforto hit a two-run single and it was 7-0 Mets after one inning.  In the second Spangenberg hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 7-1.  Hedges had an RBI ground out to make it 7-2.  Conforto hit a solo homerun in the fourth and it was 8-2 Mets.  In the sixth Schimpf hit a solo homerun to cut the lead to 8-3.  In the seventh Duda hit an RBI single to make it 9-3 and that was the final score of the game.

The Mets win a series over the San Diego Padres



The New York Mets defeated the San Diego Padres on Sunday afternoon.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 5-1.  Steven Matz started for the Mets and pitched great and the bullpen closed it out.  T.J. Rivera led the offense with a couple of hits and RBI. 

Matz pitched 7 1/3 innings giving up a hit and no runs with two walks and eight strikeouts.  He won his ninth game of the season.  Addison Reed pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one and Gabriel Ynoa pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout. 

Clayton Richard lost his second game of the season pitching five innings and giving up three hits and two runs with three walks and three strikeouts.  Leonel Campos pitched two innings with two walks and two strikeouts, Jose Dominguez pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and three runs with two walks and Carlos Villanueva pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Jose Reyes had a hit, Ty Kelly drew three walks and Neil Walker had a hit and an RBI.  Jay Bruce drew two walks, Flores had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk and Rivera had two hits and two RBI.  Matz drew a walk, Rivera hit a double and Flores and Walker each hit a homerun.  The Mets were 1-7 with runners in scoring position and left five men on base.  Reyes had a stolen base and Flores was caught stealing. 

Travis Jankowski drew a walk, Wil Myers had a hit and Yangervis Solarte had a hit and an RBI.  Alexei Ramirez had a hit, Derek Norris drew a walk and Ryan Schimpf had a hit.  The Padres were 1-3 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Jankowski was caught stealing and Dickerson and Norris each committed an error.  Richard had a pickoff. 

In the second Flores hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth Walker hit a solo homerun to push the Mets lead to 2-0.  In the eighth a walk and wild pitch let another run score and make it 3-0.  Rivera hit a two run double and it was 5-0 Mets.  In the ninth Solarte hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-1 and that would be the final score.

The New York Mets defeated the San Diego Padres on Saturday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 3-2.  Jacob deGrom started for the Mets and he pitched well and the bullpen was ok although Jeurys Familia blew the save.  Wilmer Flores had three hits to lead the offense. 

deGrom pitched seven innings giving up three hits and a run with a walk and nine strikeouts.  Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning with a strikeout, Familia blew his third save of the season pitching an inning and giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and Jerry Blevins pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit.  Erik Goeddel pitched 2/3 of an inning striking out one and Gabriel Ynoa won his first game of the season pitching a perfect inning with a strikeout.

Jose Reyes drew a walk, Neil Walker had two hits and an RBI and James Loney had a hit.  Flores had three hits and an RBI, Alejandro De Aza drew a walk and Travis d'Arnaud had a hit and drew a walk.  Kelly Johnson had an RBI and the Mets were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left eight men on base. 

Travis Jankowski drew a walk, Wil Myers had a hit and an RBI and Yangervis Solarte had a hit and an RBI.  Alex Dickerson had two hits, Ryan Schimpf had a hit and Solarte and Myers each hit a homerun.  The Padres left one man on base, Dickerson was caught stealing, Bethancourth, Myers and Noonan each committed an error. 

In the first Walker hit an RBI single giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the seventh Solarte hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  In the bottom of the seventh Johnson hit a sac fly to give the Mets a 2-1 lead.  In the ninth Myers hit a solo homerun to tie the game at two.  In the bottom of the 11th the Mets walked off  when Flores reached on a fielder's choice.  The Mets won the game 3-2.
