The New York Yankees get back on track in win over the Cleveland Indians



The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Indians on Saturday afternoon.  The game took place at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York and the final score was 6-2 Yankees.  Luis Severino started for the Yankees and pitched pretty well even without his best stuff.  The bullpen was good and Brett Gardner and Brian McCann each hit a homerun and every starter had at least one hit. 

Severino pitched six innings giving up one run on three hits.  He walked four and struck out six and earned his first major league win.  Adam Warren pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts, Delllin Betances pitched an inning giving up two hits and a run with a strikeout and Andrew Miller pitched an inning giving up a hit. 

Danny Salazar pitched 4 2/3 innings giving up eight hits and five runs with four of them being earned.  He didn't walk a batter and he struck out six and he lost his seventh game of the season.  Austin Adams pitched 1 1/3 innings striking out one, Ryan Webb pitched an inning giving up two hits and striking out two and Jeff Manship pitched an inning giving up three hits and a run. 

Jacoby Ellsbury had two hits and an RBI, Gardner had a hit and two RBI and Carlos Beltran had a hit and an RBI.  McCann had two hits and an RBI, Greg Bird had a hit and Chase Headley had a hit.  Didi Gregorius had two hits, Stephen Drew had two hits and John Ryan Murphy had a hit and an RBI.  Gregorius hit two doubles, Gardner and McCann each hit a homerun and the Yankees were 2-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base. 

Jeff Kipnis drew a walk, Francisco Lindor had three hits and an RBI and Carlos Santana drew a walk.  Lonnie Chisenhall had two hits, an RBI and drew a walk, Abraham Almonte drew a walk and Roberto Perez had a hit.  Lindor hit a double, Lindor hit a homerun and the Indians were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Salazar and Chisenhall each committed an error and Almonte had an outfield assist. 

Lindor hit a solo homerun in the first to give the Indians a 1-0 lead.  In the bottom of the first Gardner hit a two run homerun to make it 2-1 Yankees and McCann hit a solo homerun to make it a 3-1 game.  In the second Ellsbury reached on a force attempt and an error to make it 4-1.  Beltran hit a sac fly to make it a 5-1 game in the second inning.  In the eighth Chisenhall hit an RBI single to make it 5-2 and in the bottom of the eighth Murphy hit a sac fly to make it 6-2 and that was the final score in the game.  The rubber game of the series will be played on Sunday afternoon which is also Andy Pettitte day.  The Yankees honored Jorge Posada before this game, retiring his number and putting a plaque in monument park.
