The New York Mets shoutout the Atlanta Braves



The New York Mets defeated the Atlanta Braves on Monday night.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New York and the final score was 4-0.  Jon Niese started for the Mets and pitched well and Daniel Murphy had two hits and Yoenis Cespedes had three hits to lead the offense. 

Niese pitched six innings giving up three hits and no runs with two walks and two strikeouts.  He picked up his ninth win of the season.  Addison Reed pitched a perfect inning, Tyler Clippard pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out two and Jeurys Familia pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out one. 

Shelby Miller lost his 16th game of the season pitching six innings and giving up seven hits and two runs with four walks and three strikeouts.  Andrew McKirahan pitched without recording an out and he gave up three hits and two runs, Brandon Cunniff pitched an inning giving up a walk and he struck out one and Daniel Winkler pitched 2/3 of an inning walking one and striking out two.  Danny Burawa pitched to one batter and struck him out. 

Curtis Granderson had a hit and drew two walks, Murphy had two hits and two RBI and Cespedes had three hits.   Lucas Duda drew two walks, Kelly Johnson had a hit and Michael Conforto had a hit and an RBI.  Wilmer Flores had a hit, Ruben Tejada drew a walk and Niese drew a walk.  Michael Cuddyer had a hit, Cespedes hit two doubles and Murphy hit a double.  Conforto hit a homerun and the Mets were 2-12 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.  Flores was caught stealing and committed an error. 

Michael Bourn had a hit, Adonis Garcia had a hit and drew a walk and A.J. Pierzynski had two hits.  Miller drew a walk, Pedro Ciriaco had a hit and the Braves were 0-7 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Cameron Maybin committed an error. 

In the first d'Arnaud grounded into a double play and a run scored giving the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the second Conforto hit a solo homerun to make it 2-0 Mets.  Murphy hit a two run double in the seventh and it was 4-0 which would be the final score.  The two teams will play game two of three on Tuesday night.
