The New York Yankees lose game one of huge series against the Toronto Blue Jays



The New York Yankees were defeated by the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night.  The game took place at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and the final score was 4-2 Blue Jays.  Adam Warren started for the Yankees and struggled early and didn't last deep into the game.  The Yankees bullpen was good and Jacoby Ellsbury led the offense with a couple of hits. 

Warren pitched 3 1/3 innings giving up five hits and three runs with a walk and five strikeouts.  He lost his seventh game of the season.  James Pazos pitched to two batters retiring them both, Caleb Cotham pitched 1 2/3 perfect innings with two strikeouts and Chasen Shreve pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up a hit and walking two.  Branden Pinder pitched giving up a hit and a run and two walks without recording an out and Andrew Bailey pitched two innings giving up a hit. 

David Price earned his 17th win of the season pitching seven innings and giving up two hits and no runs with a walk and seven strikeouts.  Aaron Sanchez didn't record an out and gave up a hit and a run with a walk, Brett Cecil pitched an inning giving up a hit and he struck out the side and Roberto Osuna pitched an inning giving up a hit and a run with a strikeout and he earned his 17th save of the season. 

Ellsbury had two hits and an RBI, Brett Gardner drew a walk and Alex Rodriguez had a hit.  Greg Bird had a hit and an RBI, Didi Gregorius drew a walk and Dustin Ackley had a hit.  Bird hit a homerun and the Yankees were 1-6 with runners in scoring position and left six men on base.  Headley committed an error. 

Ben Revere had two hits, Josh Donaldson had a hit and drew a walk and Jose Bautista had two hits and an RBI.  Edward Encarnacion had a hit, an RBI and drew a walk, Justin Smoak had a hit and an RBI and Russell Martin had an RBI.  Ryan Goins had a hit and drew a walk, Kevin Pillar drew a walk and Matt Hague drew a walk.  Smoak and Bautista each hit a double and the Blue Jays were 2-9 with runners in scoring position and left ten men on base.  Pennington committed an error. 

In the first the Blue Jays took a 3-0 lead.  Bautista hit an RBI single, Encarnacion hit an RBI groundout and Smoak hit an RBI double.  In the seventh Martin hit a sac fly to make it a 4-0 game.  In the eighth Ellsbury hit an RBI single to cut the lead to 4-1 and Bird hit a solo homerun in the ninth to cut it to 4-2 but that would be the final score.
