The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves



The New York Mets were defeated by the Atlanta Braves.  The game took place at Citi Field in Flushing, New  York and the final score was 6-2.  Logan Verrett started for the Mets and didn't pitch great and Tyler Clippard didn't pitch great either.  David Wright and Daniel Murphy each had two hits to lead the offense. 

Verrett pitched five innings giving up five hits and four runs.  He walked one and struck out three and lost his second game of the season.  Sean Gilmartin pitched two innings giving up two hits and struck out three, Hansel Robles pitched an inning and struck out one and Clippard pitched an inning giving up two hits and two runs and drew a walk. 

Matt Wisler won his sixth game of the season pitching seven innings giving up five hits and two runs.  He walked one and struck out eight.  Peter Moylan gave up a hit to the only batter that he faced, Matt Marksberry pitched 1/3 of an inning walking one and Edwin Jackson pitched 2/3 of an inning.  Arodys Vizcaino pitched a perfect inning with two strikeouts. 

Curtis Granderson drew a walk, Wright had two hits and an RBI and Murphy had two hits.  Yoenis Cespedes drew a walk, Michael Cuddyer had an RBI and Wilmer Flores had a hit.  Michael Conforto had a hit, Murphy hit two doubles.  Wright hit a homerun and the Mets were 0-8 with runners in scoring position and left seven men on base.  Conforto had an outfield assist. 

Nick Markakis had a hit and drew a walk, Hector Olivera had a hit and three RBI and A.J. Pierzynski had a hit.  Nick Swisher had a hit, Jace Peterson had a hit and an RBI and Andrelton Simmons had a hit.  Michael Bourn had a hit and an RBI, Wisler had a hit and Adonis Garcia had a hit and two RBI.  Simmons, Swisher and Garcia hit a double and Peterson and Olivera each hit a homerun.  The Braves were 2-10 with runners in scoring position and left four men on base.  Olivera committed an error. 

In the first Wright hit a solo homerun to give the Mets a 1-0 lead.  In the fifth Peterson hit a solo homerun to tie the game at one.  Olivera hit a three run homerun to make it 4-1 Braves in the fifth.  In the eighth Cuddyer hit a sac fly to cut the lead to 4-2.  In the ninth Garcia hit a two run homerun to make it a 6-2 game.  The two teams will play the third and final game of the series on Wednesday night.
